I would like to
dedicate this book to Noor A’an.
Without her love, support and patience, none of this would be possible.
Acknowledgement
All praise is due to God, the creator of all that exists. Thanks to Him for the ability he gave me in writing this book.
When I first plan to write this book, I knew it would be a challenge to cover all important aspect of it and yet keep it from becoming too technical. It however took many people to get this book into your hands and I would like to extend my thanks to all.
I want to thank Dr. Ali Salman for his valuable input to this new book and to Ahmad Shehu for helping me to better explain the more obscure concepts. A special thanks to Abdul-Aziz Tanko, Riyaz Ahamed and Noor Farhan Najah Bt. Ramlee for their motivation and continued support while I crank out this Book.
I would like to extend a very special thank you to my Friend Muhammed Irfan Ishak for introducing me into Joomla!
I would like to also pay tribute to the Developers for their continued efforts in putting together the remarkable Content Management System that is Joomla! 1.5.
And finally to all my family and friends who always believed I could do it.
Preface
This book provides a broad and thorough introduction to Web design using Joomla! 1.5. It is intended primarily for any person with basic knowledge of computer and internet who wishes to develop a personal website or other kinds of websites. It presents a systematic account of the World Wide Web, which will serve as a foundation for anyone setting out on a career as a professional Web Designer.
I have written this book for you to learn Joomla! 1.5 as fast as possible, and thank you for deciding to read this book.
It is significant that this book is read cover-to-cover, and all you have to do is simply read a page, do what it says and go ahead. You will be a fluent Joomla! user after completing all the tasks in this book.
When I first came across Joomla! I found it difficult to install and difficult to learn how it works generally. It was even trickier to learn how to customize the site as per my requirement. In that period, there were many tutorials which explained different tasks, but not a single one explained how to install, administer or even modify Joomla! website to my needs. Thenceforth, I learned Joomla! in a more complex way by trying out different tutorials, trying different buttons in the administration, and seeing what happens. I gradually became facile in making and administrating Joomla! websites. It took me months going through all these processes.
I have now written this book in such a way that you will learn all that within minutes. If you have read this book three times cover-to-cover, you will be able to make any type of Joomla! website in Just 60 Minutes or less.
