      PROLOGUE

      Alaafin Oyo, as head of Yoruba nation and the African peoples of the world, this is specially dedicated to you. The innocent question of a primary school pupil (Title) became a subject of research. It started in early 1960s.

      Many things were revealed in the course of the research

      1. English and Yoruba (also known as King’s Yoruba, standard Yoruba, Pure Yoruba or Oyo Language) are two sides of a coin.

      2. The two languages are expressed in similar pattern.

      3. In this part of the world, from Congo through south Sudan, down to Senegal, we speak one language and its dialects

      4. The language of each nation of the world could be likened to the ripples generated in concentric circles when a lump of gold is dropped into still waters.

      5. In this country, we do not have tribes nor ethnic groups, we have Yoruba people, Yoruba language and its dialects

      6. These dialects came about as a result of migrations and lack of reference materials.

      7. The research also revealed that the major languages of the world could be linked to one source.

      8. A good grasp and knowledge of Oyo language would give one insight into several international languages as French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Greek and Latin.

      As example if we are to trace a line from the center of aforementioned concentric circles (among many) and assume A B C D E F G H I J K and M. Group B migrates from group A. Group C migrates from B Group D migrates from group C and so on.

      Where there is no insurmountable barrier in its path, such as ocean, the line continues ad infinitum and dialects would continue to be created.

      As this continues, the main language continues to change. In the process of time, the alteration gets to minority M. The dialect becomes completely different from language A.

      However, the analysis of dialect M will reveal elements of A. Some distance after M may not reveal elements of similarity.

      Examples:

      i. Igbomina West, Igala, Igbomina East (Popularlly called Igbo) Ikwere etc

      ii. Ikale, Ilaje, Ijaw, Ogoni, Kalabari etc

      iii. Nupe, Bassa, Basa Kwomu, Bassa nge etc

      The Bible, Ifa and Quran testify that Yoruba language was there in the beginning. They also testify that Africa is the source of creation. These prove that the garden of Eden was in Africa. Yoruba was the means of communication in the garden of Eden.

      Oyo language or pure Yoruba or kings Yoruba or standard Yoruba or simply Yoruba has the following alphabets.

      Yoruba language has a single normal S. We do not have SH sound.

      When explorers came to this part of African continent they could not speak our language properly. In the process they created many shackled sounds as shi, she shu, sho, sha, yen and the like.

      Their notorious markets also helped to spread these sounds. Their successors also wrote books using them.

      For example: Travels and Explorations in Yorubaland (1854-1858) By W. H. Clarke.

      In Nigeria today, although there are some far flung migrations, the rest peoples are Yorubas. All the minorities are Yoruba people. We are all the same people. From Borno to Bakassi, Kano to Zuru Kaduna to Port Harcourt, Gobir to Benin, Koto Kolofin to Lokeoja, Kafanchan to Onisha, Jos to Ijebu, Mokokowa, Ibiyidaa, Akano, Mina etc.

      The border line runs from sudan to Senegal along the southern borders of sahara desert.

      In addition, Yorubas also constitute a large portion of the following countries:

      Argentina

      Mexico

      America

      Jamaica

      Cuba

      Dominican

      Paraguay

      Equador

      Guiana

      Colombia

      Haiti

      Brazil

      Chile

      Uruguay

      Trinidad and Tobego

      Bolivia

      Venezuela

      Leeward and Windward Islands

      etc.

      Oladipupo is a tool for development and progress. Each part is about five times its size – depending on how good an individual is at signs and punctuation. The materials used so far (from A to Z) add up to a minor percentage of Yoruba language but whoever masters these should be able to cope in our villages.
