Michael Sails A Distant Star is a collection of poems written by Charles De Gaulle du Gui dating back to the mid 1970s. This is the second collection of poems he has published. The first, My Lover's Eyes, is now out of print.
Charles De Gaulle du Gui
Charles De Gaulle du Gui began writing poetry in the early 1970s. Much of his early work focused on social protest and affairs of the heart. During the 1980s, du Gui frequently gave public readings of his poetry, and did the same during the first decade of the 21st century.

A WEARY PILGRIM
(6-15-89)
I was just a weary pilgrim,
A long way from my home.
My steps were toward Jerusalem;
Days many I did roam.
Along a tortured, twisted path,
I chanced to lose my way.
No sun, no rain, but thirst and pain,
I roamed for many a day.
A steeple dark without a bell
Sat high upon a hill.
This ruin with its silent knell
My trembling heart made still.
An ancient church, from years gone by,
An ancient churchyard, too.
An ancient relic of an ancient land,
But I was born anew.
For I, a weary pilgrim,
Who did in error roam,
Found in that high and ancient place
Jerusalem, my Home.
