Reported Aboo Hurairah:

Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said regarding the sea, It’s water is purifying and its dead (animals) are lawful (to eat). [Al- Arba’a and Ibn Aboo Shaiba reported it (this version is of the latter). Ibn Khuzaima and Tirmidhee graded it Sahih. It was also reported by Malik, Shafi’i and Ahmad.]

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-فِي اَلْبَحْرِ: { هُوَ اَلطُّهُورُ مَاؤُهُ, اَلْحِلُّ مَيْتَتُهُ } أَخْرَجَهُ اَلْأَرْبَعَةُ, وَابْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ, وَصَحَّحَهُ اِبْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ وَاَلتِّرْمِذِيُّ 1‏ .‏

‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ رواه أبو داود (83)‏, والنسائي (1 /50 و 176 و 707)‏, والترمذي (69)‏, وابن ماجه (386)‏ وابن أبي شيبة (131)‏, وابن خزيمة (111)‏ من طريق صفوان بن سليم, عن سعيد بن سلمة من آل بني الأزرق, عن المغيرة بن أبي بردة ‏-وهو من بني عبد الدار‏- أنه سمع أبي هريرة يقول: جاء رجل إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم, فقال: يا رسول الله! إنا نركب البحر, ونحمل معنا القليل من الماء, فإن توضأنا به عطشنا, أفنتوضأ به؟ فقال صلى الله عليه وسلم: فذكره.‏ وقال الترمذي: حسن صحيح.‏ قلت: وهذا إسناد صحيح, وقد أعله بعضهم بما لا يقدح, كما أن للحديث شواهد, وتفصيل ذلك في الأصل.‏

Reported Reported Aboo Sa’id al-Khudri:

Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Water is pure and nothing can make it impure. [Ath-Thalatha and Ahmad who graded it Sahih]

وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ إِنَّ اَلْمَاءَ طَهُورٌ لَا يُنَجِّسُهُ شَيْءٌ } أَخْرَجَهُ اَلثَّلَاثَةُ 1‏ وَصَحَّحَهُ أَحْمَدُ 2‏ .‏

‏1 ‏- صحيح: رواه أبو داود (66)‏, والنسائي (174)‏, والترمذي (66)‏ عن أبي سعيد الخدري, قال: قيل: يا رسول الله (!)‏ أنتوضأ (رواية: أتتوضأ)‏ من بئر بضاعة, وهي بئر يلقى فيها الحيض, ولحوم الكلاب, والنتن؟! فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: .‏.‏ الحديث.‏ قلت: وهو حديث صحيح, وإن أعل بجهالة أحد رواته, لكن له طرق وشواهد أخرى يصح بها الحديث, كما تجد ذلك مفصلا بالأصل.‏ فائدة: قوله في الحديث: وهي بئر يلقى فيها الحيض, ولحوم الكلاب, والنتن.‏ قال الخطابي عن ذلك في معالم السنن (1/37)‏: يتوهم كثير من الناس إذا سمع هذا الحديث أن هذا كان منهم عادة, وأنهم كانوا يأتون هذا الفعل قصدا وعمدا, وهذا لا يجوز أن يظن بذمي, بل بوثني, فضلا عن مسلم! ولم يزل من عادة الناس قديما وحديثا؛ مسلمهم وكافرهم: تنزيه المياه, وصونها عن النجاسات, فكيف يظن بأهل ذلك الزمان, وهم أعلى طبقات أهل الدين, وأفضل جماعة المسلمين, والماء في بلادهم أعز, والحاجة إليه أمس, أن يكون هذا صنيعهم بالماء, امتهانهم له؟!.‏ وقد لعن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من تغوط في موارد الماء ومشارعه, فكيف من اتخذ عيون الماء ومنابعه رصدا للأنجاس, ومطرحا للأقذار؟ هذا ما لا يليق بحالهم.‏ وإنما كان هذا من أجل أن هذه البئر في صدور من الأرض, وأن السيول كانت تكسح هذه الأقذار من الطرق والأفنية, وتحملها فتلقيها فيها, وكان الماء لكثرته لا تؤثر فيه وقوع هذه الأشياء ولا يغيره.‏

Reported Aboo Umama Al-Bahili:

Reported Aboo Umama Al-Bahili: Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Water cannot be rendered impure by anything except something which changes its smell, taste and colour. [Ibn Majar reported it and Aboo Hatim described it as Da’if (weak)].

وَعَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ اَلْبَاهِلِيِّ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ إِنَّ اَلْمَاءَ لَا يُنَجِّسُهُ شَيْءٌ, إِلَّا مَا غَلَبَ عَلَى رِيحِهِ وَطَعْمِهِ, وَلَوْنِهِ } أَخْرَجَهُ اِبْنُ مَاجَهْ 1‏ وَضَعَّفَهُ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ 2‏ .‏

‏1 ‏- ضعيف.‏ رواه ابن ماجه (521)‏ من طريق رشدين بن سعد, حدثنا معاوية بن صالح, عن راشد بن سعد, عن أبي إمامة به.‏ وهو ضعيف؛ لضعف رشدين, وقد اضطرب أيضا في إسناده.‏

‏2 ‏- نقله ولده في العلل (1 /44)‏ فقال: قال أبي يوصله رشدين بن سعد, يقول: عند أبي إمامة, عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم, ورشدين ليس بقوي, والصحيح مرسل.‏

And Al-Baihaqi reported:

Water is pure unless any impure thing is added which changes its smell, taste and colour.

وَلِلْبَيْهَقِيِّ: { اَلْمَاءُ طَاهِرٌ إِلَّا إِنْ تَغَيَّرَ رِيحُهُ, أَوْ طَعْمُهُ, أَوْ لَوْنُهُ; بِنَجَاسَةٍ تَحْدُثُ فِيهِ } 1‏ .‏

‏1 ‏- ضعيف.‏ رواه البيهقي في الكبرى (159‏-260)‏ من حديث أبي إمامة أيضا, وفي إسناده بقية بن الوليد, وهو مدلس وقد عنعن.‏ وله طريق آخر ولكنه ضعيف أيضا.‏

Reported ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar (Allaah be pleased with):

Allaah’s Mesenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: If there is enough water to fill two pots (Qulla), it carries no impurity, Another version has: It does not become unclean. {Al-Arba’a reported it. Ibn Khuzaima, Ibn Hibbaan and Al-Haakim graded it Sahih (sound)].

وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ صَلَّى عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: { إِذَا كَانَ اَلْمَاءَ قُلَّتَيْنِ لَمْ يَحْمِلْ اَلْخَبَثَ } وَفِي لَفْظٍ: { لَمْ يَنْجُسْ } أَخْرَجَهُ اَلْأَرْبَعَةُ, وَصَحَّحَهُ اِبْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ.‏ وَابْنُ حِبَّانَ 1‏ .‏

‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ رواه أبو داود (63 و 64 و 65)‏, والنسائي (1 /46 و175)‏, والترمذي (67)‏, وابن ماجه (517)‏, وهو حديث صحيح, وقد أعل بما لا يقدح.‏ وصححه ابن خزيمة (92)‏, والحاكم (132)‏, وابن حبان (1249)‏ .‏

Reported Aboo Hurairah (Allaah be pleased with):

Reported Aboo Hurairah (Allaah be pleased with): Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: None of you should take a bath in stagnant water when he is sexually impure. [Muslim reported it]

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ لَا يَغْتَسِلُ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي اَلْمَاءِ اَلدَّائِمِ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ } أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ 1‏ .‏

Another version of Al-Bukhaari has:

None of you should urinate in stagnant water that is not flowing, and then take bath in it. A version of Muslim has the words from it (i.e. the water). A version of Aboo Da’ud has: One should not take bath in it from sexual impurity.

وَلِلْبُخَارِيِّ: { لَا يَبُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي اَلْمَاءِ اَلدَّائِمِ اَلَّذِي لَا يَجْرِي, ثُمَّ يَغْتَسِلُ فِيهِ } 1‏ .‏ وَلِمُسْلِمٍ: مِنْهُ 2‏ .‏ وَلِأَبِي دَاوُدَ: { وَلَا يَغْتَسِلُ فِيهِ مِنْ اَلْجَنَابَةِ } 3‏ .‏

A man who accompanied the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) narrated:

Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade a women to bathe with the water left over by a man and that a man should not bathe with the water left over by a woman (but instead) they should both take scoopfuls of the water together. [Reported by Aboo Da’ud and An-Nasaa’i and its chain of narrators is Sahih (authentic)].

وَعَنْ رَجُلٍ صَحِبَ اَلنَّبِيَّ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-قَالَ: { نَهَى رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-"أَنْ تَغْتَسِلَ اَلْمَرْأَةُ بِفَضْلِ اَلرَّجُلِ, أَوْ اَلرَّجُلُ بِفَضْلِ اَلْمَرْأَةِ, وَلْيَغْتَرِفَا جَمِيعًا } أَخْرَجَهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ.‏ وَالنَّسَائِيُّ, وَإِسْنَادُهُ صَحِيحٌ 1‏ .‏

‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ رواه أبو داود (81)‏, والنسائي (1/ 130)‏ من طريق داود بن عبد الله الأودي, عن حميد الحميري, عن رجل صحب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم, به.‏ قلت: وهذا سند صحيح, كما قال الحافظ.‏

Reported Ibn ‘Abbaas (Allaah be pleased with):

Reported Ibn ‘Abbaas (Allaah be pleased with): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to bath with the water left over by Maimuna (Allaah be pleased with) [Muslim reported it].

وَعَنْ اِبْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا; { أَنَّ اَلنَّبِيَّ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-كَانَ يَغْتَسِلُ بِفَضْلِ مَيْمُونَةَ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهَا } أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ 1‏ .‏

And Ashab As-Sunan (compilers of the prophet’s sayings) reported that one of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) took bath from a vessel, then came the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and when he wanted to take bath from that (vessel), she said, I was sexually impure. He said, Water does not become sexually impure. [At-Tirmidhee and Ibn huzaima graded it Sahih (sound)].

وَلِأَصْحَابِ اَلسُّنَنِ: { اِغْتَسَلَ بَعْضُ أَزْوَاجِ اَلنَّبِيِّ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-فِي جَفْنَةٍ, فَجَاءَ لِيَغْتَسِلَ مِنْهَا, فَقَالَتْ لَهُ: إِنِّي كُنْتُ جُنُبًا, فَقَالَ: إِنَّ اَلْمَاءَ لَا يُجْنِبُ } وَصَحَّحَهُ اَلتِّرْمِذِيُّ, وَابْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ 1‏ .‏

‏1 ‏- صحيح .‏ رواه أبو داود (68)‏, والترمذي (65)‏, وابن ماجه (370)‏ من طريق سماك بن حرب, عن عكرمة, عن ابن عباس, قال: .‏.‏.‏ الحديث.‏ قال الترمذي: هذا حديث حسن صحيح.‏ قلت: وهو كذلك وإن كان من رواية سماك, عن عكرمة, وهي معلولة.‏ تنبيه: وهم الحافظ في عزوة لأصحاب السنن إذ لم يخرجه النسائي, وأيضا تصحيح ابن خزيمة لغير هذا اللفظ.‏

Reported Aboo Hurairah (Allaah be pleased with):

Reported by Aboo Hurairah (Allaah be pleased with): Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: The cleansing of the utensil belonging to one of you, after it has been licked by a dog, is to wash it seven times, and using soil for cleaning at the first time. [Muslim reported it].

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ طَهُورُ إِنَاءِ أَحَدِكُمْ إِذْ وَلَغَ فِيهِ اَلْكَلْبُ أَنْ يَغْسِلَهُ سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ, أُولَاهُنَّ بِالتُّرَابِ } أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ 1‏ .‏

وَلِلتِّرْمِذِيِّ: { أُخْرَاهُنَّ, أَوْ أُولَاهُنَّ بِالتُّرَابِ } 1‏ .‏

‏1 ‏- سنن الترمذي (91)‏, وعنده زيادة أخرى, وهي: وإذا ولغت فيه الهرة, غسل مرة.‏ قلت: وهي زيادة صحيحة كما بينت ذلك في ناسخ الحديث ومنسوخه لابن شاهين رقم (140)‏ .‏

Reported Aboo Qatada (Allaah be pleased with):

Reported Aboo Qatada (Allaah be pleased with): Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said about the cat that, It is not unclean, but is one of those who intermingle with you. [Reported by Al-Arba’a. At-Tirmidhee and Ibn Khuzaima graded it Sahih (sound)].

وَعَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- أَنَّ رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-قَالَ ‏-فِي اَلْهِرَّةِ‏-: { إِنَّهَا لَيْسَتْ بِنَجَسٍ, إِنَّمَا هِيَ مِنْ اَلطَّوَّافِينَ عَلَيْكُمْ } أَخْرَجَهُ اَلْأَرْبَعَةُ, وَصَحَّحَهُ اَلتِّرْمِذِيُّ.‏ وَابْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ 1‏ .‏

‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ رواه أبو داود (75)‏, والنسائي (1 /55 و 178)‏, والترمذي (92)‏, وابن ماجه (367)‏ وابن خزيمة (104)‏ من طريق كبشة بنت كعب بن مالك ‏-وكانت تحت ابن أبي قتادة‏- أن أبا قتادة دخل عليها, فسكبت له وضوءا.‏ قالت: فجاءت هرة تشرب, فأصغى لها الإناء حتى شربت, قالت كبشة: فرآني أنظر إليه! فقال: أتعجبين يا بنت أخي؟ فقلت: نعم .‏ قال: إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: فذكره.‏ وقال الترمذي: حديث حسن صحيح.‏

Reported Anas bin Malik:

Reported Anas bin Malik (Allaah be pleased with): A Bedouin came and urinated in one corner of the mosque and the people shouted at him, but Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stopped them, and when he finished urinating, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) ordered for a bucket of water which was spilt over it [Agreed upon].

وَعَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: { جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ فَبَالَ فِي طَائِفَةِ اَلْمَسْجِدِ, فَزَجَرَهُ اَلنَّاسُ, فَنَهَاهُمْ اَلنَّبِيُّ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-فَلَمَّا قَضَى بَوْلَهُ أَمَرَ اَلنَّبِيُّ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-بِذَنُوبٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ; فَأُهْرِيقَ عَلَيْهِ.‏ } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ 1‏ .‏

‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ رواه البخاري (219)‏, ومسلم (284)‏, وله طرق عن أنس, وجاء أيضا من رواية بعض الصحابة غير أنس.‏

Reported Ibn ‘Umar:

Reported Ibn ‘Umar (Allaah be pleased with): Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Two types of dead animals and two types of bloods have been made lawful for us, the two types of dead animals are locusts and fish (seafood), while the two types of bloods are the liver and the spleen. [Reported by Ahmad and Ibn Majah, and this Hadeeth has some weakness.]

وَعَنْ اِبْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ أُحِلَّتْ لَنَا مَيْتَتَانِ وَدَمَانِ, فَأَمَّا الْمَيْتَتَانِ: فَالْجَرَادُ وَالْحُوتُ, وَأَمَّا الدَّمَانُ: فَالطِّحَالُ وَالْكَبِدُ } أَخْرَجَهُ أَحْمَدُ, وَابْنُ مَاجَهْ, وَفِيهِ ضَعْفٌ 1‏ .‏

‏1 ‏- رواه أحمد (2/97)‏, وابن ماجه (3314)‏, وسنده ضعيف كما أشار إلى ذلك الحافظ.‏ ولكنه يصح عن ابن عمر موقوفا, والموقوف له حكم الرفع كما قاله البيهقي رحمه الله.‏

Reported Aboo Hurairah:

Reported Aboo Hurairah (Allaah be pleased with): Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: When a fly falls in the drink of one of you, he should fully dip it and then throw it away because there is disease in one of its wings and cure in the other. [Reported by Al-Bukhaari]

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ إِذَا وَقَعَ اَلذُّبَابُ فِي شَرَابِ أَحَدِكُمْ فَلْيَغْمِسْهُ, ثُمَّ لِيَنْزِعْهُ, فَإِنَّ فِي أَحَدِ جَنَاحَيْهِ دَاءً, وَفِي اَلْآخَرِ شِفَاءً } أَخْرَجَهُ اَلْبُخَارِيُّ 1‏ .‏

"It (the fly) protects itself with the diseased wing (by dipping it first in a drink).

وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ, وَزَادَ: { وَإِنَّهُ يَتَّقِي بِجَنَاحِهِ اَلَّذِي فِيهِ اَلدَّاءُ } 1‏ .‏

Reported Aboo Waqid Al-Laithi:

Reported Aboo Waqid Al-Laithi (Allaah be pleased with): Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Whatever (portion) is cut off from an animal when it is alive is dead (meat). [Reported by Aboo Da’ud and At-Tirmidhee who graded it Hasan (fair) and this version is of Tirmidhee].

وَعَنْ أَبِي وَاقِدٍ اَللَّيْثِيِّ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: قَالَ اَلنَّبِيُّ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ مَا قُطِعَ مِنْ اَلْبَهِيمَةِ ‏-وَهِيَ حَيَّةٌ‏- فَهُوَ مَيِّتٌ } أَخْرَجَهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ, وَاَلتِّرْمِذِيُّ وَحَسَّنَهُ, وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ 1‏ .‏

Reported Hudhaifa bin Al-Yaman:

Reported Hudhaifa bin Al-Yaman (Allaah be pleased with): Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Do not drink in silver or gold utensils, and do not eat in plates of such metals, for such things are for them (the disbelievers) in this worldly life and for you in the Hereafter. [Agreed upon]

عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ الْيَمَانِ رَضِيَ الْلَّهُ عَنْهُمَا, قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ لَا تَشْرَبُوا فِي آنِيَةِ الذَّهَبِ والْفِضَّةِ, وَلَا تَأْكُلُوا فِي صِحَافِهَا, فَإِنَّهَا لَهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا, وَلَكُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ 1‏ .‏

‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ رواه البخاري (5426)‏, ومسلم (2067)‏ عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى, قال: إنهم كانوا عند حذيفة, فاستسقى, فسقاه مجوسي, فلما وضع القدح في يده, رماه به, وقال: لولا أني نهيته غير مرة ولا مرتين! ‏-كأنه يقول: لم أفعل هذا‏- لكني سمعت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم, يقول: لا تلبس الحرير ولا الديباج, ولا تشربوا .‏.‏ الحديث.‏ واللفظ للبخاري, وعنده ولنا في الآخرة.‏ وهذه الجملة ليست عند مسلم.‏

وَعَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْمُحَبِّقِ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ الْلَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ دِبَاغُ جُلُودِ الْمَيْتَةِ طُهُورُهاَ } صَحَّحَهُ ابْنُ حِبَّانَ 1‏ .‏

‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ وإن وهم فيه الحافظ, إذ عزو هذا اللفظ لابن حبان من رواية ابن المحبق ليس بصواب, وإنما هو لفظ حديث عائشة.‏ وبيان ذلك بالأصل.‏

وَعَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ رَضِيَ الْلَّهُ عَنْهَا, قَالَتْ: { مَرَّ رَسُولُ الْلَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-بِشَاةٍ يَجُرُّونَهَا, فَقَالَ: لَوْ أَخَذْتُمْ إِهَابَهَا؟ فَقَالُوا: إِنَّهَا مَيْتَةٌ, فَقَالَ: يُطَهِّرُهَا الْمَاءُ وَالْقَرَظُ } أَخْرَجَهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ, وَالنَّسَائِيُّ 1‏ .‏

Reported (Allaah be pleased with): I said O Allaah’s Messenger! We are living in a land inhabited by the people of the Scriptures; can we take our meals in their utensils? He said, If you can get utensils other than theirs, do not eat in theirs, but if you cannot get other than theirs, wash them and eat in them [Agreed upon].

وَعَنْ أَبِي ثَعْلَبَةَ الْخُشَنِيِّ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: { قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ الْلَّهِ, إِنَّا بِأَرْضِ قَوْمٍ أَهْلِ كِتَابٍ, أَفَنَأْكُلُ فِي آنِيَتِهِمْ؟]فـَ] قَالَ: لَا تَأْكُلُوا فِيهَا, إِلَّا أَنْ لَا تَجِدُوا غَيْرَهَا, فَاغْسِلُوهَا, وَكُلُوا فِيهَا } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ 1‏ .‏

Reported ‘Imran bin Hussain (Allaah be pleased with):

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and his Companions performed Wudu (ablution) from a skin water container belonging to a polytheist woman [Agreed upon]. (It is an extract of a long Hadeeth).

وَعَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ رَضِيَ الْلَّهُ عَنْهُمَا؛ { أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-وَأَصْحَابَهُ تَوَضَّئُوا مِنْ مَزَادَةِ اِمْرَأَةٍ مُشْرِكَةٍ.‏ } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ, فِي حَدِيثٍ طَوِيلٍ 1‏ .‏

Reported Anas bin Malik (Allaah be pleased with):

Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was asked about making vinegar out of wine. He said, No (it is prohibited). [Reported by Muslim, and At-Tirmidhee and the latter graded it Hasan-Sahih (fair and sound)].

عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: { سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-عَنْ اَلْخَمْرِ تُتَّخَذُ خَلًّا? قَالَ: لَا.‏ } أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِم 1‏ .‏

وَعَنْهُ قَالَ: { لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ خَيْبَرَ, أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-أَبَا طَلْحَةَ, فَنَادَى: إِنَّ اَللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ يَنْهَيَانِكُمْ عَنْ لُحُومِ اَلْحُمُرِ]اَلْأَهْلِيَّةِ], فَإِنَّهَا رِجْسٌ } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْه 1‏ .‏

وَعَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَارِجَةَ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: { خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-بِمِنًى, وَهُوَ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ, وَلُعَابُهَا يَسِيلُ عَلَى كَتِفَيَّ.‏ } أَخْرَجَهُ أَحْمَدُ, وَاَلتِّرْمِذِيُّ وَصَحَّحَه 1‏ .‏

وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهَا, قَالَتْ: { كَانَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-يَغْسِلُ اَلْمَنِيَّ, ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ إِلَى اَلصَّلَاةِ فِي ذَلِكَ اَلثَّوْبِ, وَأَنَا أَنْظُرُ إِلَى أَثَرِ اَلْغُسْلِ فِيهِ } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْه 1‏ .‏

‏1 ‏- مسلم (290)‏ من طريق عبد الله بن شهاب الخولاني, قال: كنت نازلا على عائشة.‏ فاحتملت في ثوبي, فغمستهما في الماء, فرأتني جارية لعائشة, فأخبرتها, فبعثت إلي عائشة فقالت: ما حملك على ما صنعت بثوبيك؟ قال: قلت: رأيت ما يرى النائم في منامه.‏ قالت: هل رأيت فيهما شيئا؟ قلت: لا.‏ قالت: فلو رأيت شيئا غسلته.‏ لقد رأيتني, وإني لأحكه من ثوب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يابسا بظفري.‏

Reported Aboo As-Samh (Allaah be pleased with):

Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: The urine of a baby girl should be washed off and the urine of baby boy should be sprinkled (with water). [Reported by Aboo Da’ud and An-Nasaa’i and Al-Haakim graded it Sahih (sound)].

وَعَنْ أَبِي اَلسَّمْحِ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: قَالَ اَلنَّبِيُّ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ يُغْسَلُ مِنْ بَوْلِ اَلْجَارِيَةِ, وَيُرَشُّ مِنْ بَوْلِ اَلْغُلَامِ } أَخْرَجَهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ, وَالنَّسَائِيُّ, وَصَحَّحَهُ اَلْحَاكِم 1‏ .‏

‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ رواه أبو داود (376)‏, والنسائي (158)‏, والحاكم (166)‏ بسند حسن, عن أبي السمح, قال: كنت أخدم النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم, فكان إذا أراد أن يغتسل, قال: ولني قفاك فأوليه قفاي, فأستره به, فأتي بحسن أو حسين رضي الله عنهما, فبال على صدره, فجئت أغسله, فقال صلى الله عليه وسلم فذكر الحديث.‏ ومع حسن إسناده إلا أني صححته لورود شواهد أخرى كثيرة له, ذكرتها بالأصل.‏

Reported ‘Asma bint Aboo Bakr (Allaah be pleased with):

The Prophet (Saw) said regarding menstruation blood that smears a garment, She should scrape it, rub it with water, then wash it and then she may pray in it. [Agreed upon]

وَعَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا; أَنَّ اَلنَّبِيَّ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-قَالَ ‏-فِي دَمِ اَلْحَيْضِ يُصِيبُ اَلثَّوْبَ‏-: { تَحُتُّهُ, ثُمَّ تَقْرُصُهُ بِالْمَاءِ, ثُمَّ تَنْضَحُهُ, ثُمَّ تُصَلِّي فِيهِ } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْه 1‏ .‏

Reported Aboo Hurairah (Allaah be pleased with):

Khaula said, O Messenger of Allaah, suppose the (trace of) the blood does not go? He said, (Washing it with) water will suffice you and its trace won’t harm you. [Reported by At Tirmidhee, and its Sanad (chain of narrators) is weak].

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: قَالَتْ خَوْلَةُ: { يَا رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ, فَإِنْ لَمْ يَذْهَبْ اَلدَّمُ? قَالَ: يَكْفِيكِ اَلْمَاءُ, وَلَا يَضُرُّكِ أَثَرُهُ } أَخْرَجَهُ اَلتِّرْمِذِيُّ, وَسَنَدُهُ ضَعِيف 1‏ .‏

‏1 ‏- حسن.‏ رواه أبو داود (365)‏ وغيره.‏ تنبيه عزو الحافظ الحديث للترمذي إنما هو من باب الوهم وإن تبعه على ذلك غيره.‏ وأما تضعيفه لسند الحديث فلعلة غير قادحة.‏

باب الوضوء

Reported Aboo Hurairah (Allaah be pleased with):

Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said Had I not feared burdening my Ummah, I would have commanded them to use Siwak with every ablution. [Reported by Malik, Ahmad and An-Nasai. Ibn Khuzaima graded it Sahih (sound) and Al-Bukhaari mentioned as a Mu’allaq (suspended – without its chain of narrators).

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- عَنْ رَسُولِ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-قَالَ: { لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ كُلِّ وُضُوءٍ } أَخْرَجَهُ مَالِكٌ, وأَحْمَدُ, وَالنَّسَائِيُّ, وَصَحَّحَهُ اِبْنُ خُزَيْمَة 1‏ .‏

‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ علقه البخاري (458/فتح)‏ بصيغة الجزم, وعنده لفظ عند بدل مع.‏ ورواه أحمد (2 /460 و 517)‏, والنسائي في الكبرى (298)‏, وابن خزيمة (140)‏.‏ وللحديث ألفاظ وطرق أخرى في الصحيحين وغيرهما, وقد ذكرتها بالأصل.‏

Reported Humran, the manumitted slave of Uthman:

Uthman (Allaah be pleased with) called for water to perform ablution. He washed palms of his hands three times, then rinsed his mouth and sniffed water in his nose and then blew it out. He then washed his face three times. Thereafter he washed his right hand up to his elbow three times, then the left one likewise, then he passed wet hands on his head. Then he washed his right foot up to the ankle three times, then the left one likewise. He then said, I saw Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) performing ablution like this ablution of mine. [Agreed upon]

وَعَنْ حُمْرَانَ; { أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- دَعَا بِوَضُوءٍ, فَغَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ, ثُمَّ مَضْمَضَ, وَاسْتَنْشَقَ, وَاسْتَنْثَرَ, ثُمَّ غَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ, ثُمَّ غَسَلَ يَدَهُ اَلْيُمْنَى إِلَى اَلْمِرْفَقِِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ, ثُمَّ اَلْيُسْرَى مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ, ثُمَّ مَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ, ثُمَّ غَسَلَ رِجْلَهُ اَلْيُمْنَى إِلَى اَلْكَعْبَيْنِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ, ثُمَّ اَلْيُسْرَى مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ, ثُمَّ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ صَلَّى عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَوَضَّأَ نَحْوَ وُضُوئِي هَذَا.‏ } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْه 1‏ .‏

Reported ‘Ali (Allaah be pleased with) regarding the description of the ablution of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him):

He (the Prophet) wiped his head (with water) only once. [Reported by Aboo Da’ud, An-Nasaa’i, AtTirmidhee with a Sahih Sanad (authentic chain of narrators). At-Tirmidhee said, It’s the most Hadeeth on this subject].

Then he (Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)) wiped his head, inserted his index finger in his ears and wiped the exterior of his ears with thumbs. [Reported by Aboo Da’ud and An-Nasaa’i and Ibn Khuzaima graded it Sahih (sound)].

Reported ‘Abdullah bin Zaid (Allaah be pleased with) regarding Wudu:

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) put his hand (in the utensil) rinsed (his mouth) and sniffed up and blew (his nose) from one scoop (of water). He did that three times. [Agreed upon].

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) saw a man on whose foot appeared a portion like the size of a nail which was not touched by water. He then said, Go back and perform your Wudu properly. [Reported by Aboo Da’ud and An-Nasaa’i].

وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: { رَأَى اَلنَّبِيُّ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-رَجُلًا, وَفِي قَدَمِهِ مِثْلُ اَلظُّفْرِ لَمْ يُصِبْهُ اَلْمَاءُ.‏ فَقَالَ: اِرْجِعْ فَأَحْسِنْ وُضُوءَكَ } أَخْرَجَهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ, وَالنَّسَائِيّ 1‏ .‏

Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: If one after performing ablution completely recites the following supplication: (Ash-hadu an la ilaha ill-Allahu wahdahu la sharika lahu, wa ash hadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa Rasuluhu) ‘I testify that there is no one worthy of worship but Allaah, He is Alone and has no partner and Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is his slave and Messenger’, all the eight gates of Paradise will be opened for him and he may enter through any gate he wishes.

وَعَنْ عُمَرَ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ مَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ يَتَوَضَّأُ, فَيُسْبِغُ اَلْوُضُوءَ, ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اَللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ, وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ, إِلَّا فُتِحَتْ لَهُ أَبْوَابُ اَلْجَنَّةِ" } أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِم 1‏ .‏

‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ رواه مسلم (234)‏ عن عقبة بن عامر قال: كانت علينا رعاية الإبل, فجاءت نوبتي, فروحتها بعشي, فأدركت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قائما يحدث الناس, فأدركت من قوله: ما من مسلم يتوضأ فيحسن وضوءه, ثم يقوم فيصلى ركعتين, مقبل عليهما بقلبه ووجهه, إلا وجبت له الجنة قال: فقلت: ما أجود هذه, فإذا قاتل بين يدي يقول: التي قبلها أجود, فنظرت فإذا عمر.‏ قال: إني قد رأيتك جئت آنفا, قال: فذكره.‏ وزاد: الثمانية, يدخل من أيها شاء.‏

Reported Mughira bin Shu’ba (Allaah be pleased with):

Once I was in the company of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), he then performed ablution and I dashed to take off his socks. He said, Leave them for I had put them on after performing ablution. So he wiped over them [Agreed Upon].

عَنْ اَلْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: { كُنْتُ مَعَ اَلنَّبِيِّ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-فَتَوَضَّأَ, فَأَهْوَيْتُ لِأَنْزِعَ خُفَّيْهِ, فَقَالَ: دَعْهُمَا, فَإِنِّي أَدْخَلْتُهُمَا طَاهِرَتَيْنِ فَمَسَحَ عَلَيْهِمَا } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْه 1‏ .‏

Reported ‘Ali (Allaah be pleased with):

If the religion were based on opinion, it would be more important to wipe over the under parts of the leather socks than the upper, but I have seen Allaah’s Messenger (Allaah be pleased with) wiping over the upper parts of his leather socks. [Reported by Aboo Da’ud with good Isnad (chain of narrators)].

وَعَنْ عَلِيٍّ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: { لَوْ كَانَ اَلدِّينُ بِالرَّأْيِ لَكَانَ أَسْفَلُ اَلْخُفِّ أَوْلَى بِالْمَسْحِ مِنْ أَعْلَاهُ, وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-يَمْسَحُ عَلَى ظَاهِرِ خُفَّيْهِ } أَخْرَجَهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ بِإِسْنَادٍ حَسَن 1‏ .‏

Reported Safwan bin ‘Assal (Allaah be pleased with):

When we were on a journey, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to command us to wear our leather socks for three days and three nights, whether we had to answer the call of nature or slept. However, in case of ejaculation or sexual impurity, he commanded us to remove the leather socks. [Reported by An-Nasaa’i and At-Tirmidhee, version is of the latter. With them Ibn Khuzaima graded it Sahih (sound)].

وَعَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَسَّالٍ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: { كَانَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-يَأْمُرُنَا إِذَا كُنَّا سَفْرًا أَنْ لَا نَنْزِعَ خِفَافَنَا ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيَهُنَّ, إِلَّا مِنْ جَنَابَةٍ وَلَكِنْ مِنْ غَائِطٍ, وَبَوْلٍ, وَنَوْمٍ } أَخْرَجَهُ النَّسَائِيُّ, وَاَلتِّرْمِذِيُّ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ, وَابْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ وَصَحَّحَاه 1‏ .‏

Reported ‘Ali (Allaah be pleased with):

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) fixed the period of Mash (wiping) over the leather socks (Khifaf – plural of Khuff) for three days and nights for a traveller and one day and a night for the resident person in a town [Reported by Muslim].

وَعَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: { جَعَلَ اَلنَّبِيُّ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيَهُنَّ لِلْمُسَافِرِ, وَيَوْمًا وَلَيْلَةً لِلْمُقِيمِ.‏ يَعْنِي: فِي اَلْمَسْحِ عَلَى اَلْخُفَّيْنِ } أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِم 1‏ .‏

‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ رواه مسلم (276)‏ من طريق شريح بن هانيء, قال: أتيت عائشة أسألها عن المسح على الخفين؟ فقالت: عليك بابن أبي طالب فسله, فإنه كان يسافر مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم.‏ فسألناه فقال: فذكره دون قوله: يعني في المسح على الخفين, فإن هذه الجملة من صياغة الحافظ.‏

Reported Thawban (Allaah be pleased with):

Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sent out a military expedition and commanded them to wipe over the turbans and leather socks. [ Reported by Ahmad and Aboo Da’ud. Al-Haakim graded it Sahih (sound)].

وَعَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: { بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-سَرِيَّةً, فَأَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يَمْسَحُوا عَلَى اَلْعَصَائِبِ ‏- يَعْنِي: اَلْعَمَائِمَ ‏-وَالتَّسَاخِينِ‏- يَعْنِي: اَلْخِفَافَ } رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ, وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ, وَصَحَّحَهُ اَلْحَاكِم 1‏ .‏

"If one of you performs ablution and puts on his two leather socks, let him perform Mash (wipe) over them and pray in them and he may not take them off he so wishes except after ejaculation or sexual impurity. [Reported by Ad-Daraqutni and Al-Haakim and graded Sahih (sound) by him].

وَعَنْ عُمَرَ ‏-مَوْقُوفًا‏- و]عَنْ] أَنَسٍ ‏-مَرْفُوعًا‏-: { إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ أَحَدُكُمْ وَلَبِسَ خُفَّيْهِ فَلْيَمْسَحْ عَلَيْهِمَا, وَلْيُصَلِّ فِيهِمَا, وَلَا يَخْلَعْهُمَا إِنْ شَاءَ إِلَّا مِنْ جَنَابَةٍ" } أَخْرَجَهُ اَلدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ, وَالْحَاكِمُ وَصَحَّحَه 1‏ .‏

Reported Aboo Bakra (Allaah be pleased with):

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) gave permission for the traveller to perform Mash (wiping) over his leather socks for three days and nights and for a non-traveller for a day and night, if he had put them on in a state of purity. [Reported by Ad-Daraqutni and graded Sahih (sound) by Ibnn Khuzaima].

وَعَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- عَنْ اَلنَّبِيِّ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ أَنَّهُ رَخَّصَ لِلْمُسَافِرِ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيَهُنَّ, وَلِلْمُقِيمِ يَوْمًا وَلَيْلَةً, إِذَا تَطَهَّرَ فَلَبِسَ خُفَّيْهِ: أَنْ يَمْسَحَ عَلَيْهِمَا } أَخْرَجَهُ اَلدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ, وَصَحَّحَهُ اِبْنُ خُزَيْمَة 1‏ .‏

He replied, For one day, I again asked, And for two days? He replied For two day s too. I again asked And for three days He replied, Yes, as long as you wish. وَعَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ عِمَارَةَ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- أَنَّهُ قَالَ: { يَا رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ أَمْسَحُ عَلَى اَلْخُفَّيْنِ? قَالَ: نَعَمْ قَالَ: يَوْمًا? قَالَ: نَعَمْ, قَالَ: وَيَوْمَيْنِ? قَالَ: نَعَمْ, قَالَ: وَثَلَاثَةً? قَالَ: نَعَمْ, وَمَا شِئْتَ أَخْرَجَهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ, وَقَالَ: لَيْسَ بِالْقَوِيِّ } 1‏ .‏

Reported Anas (Allaah be pleased with):

The Companions of Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in his lifetime used to wait for the ‘Isha (night) prayer, so much so that their heads were lowered down (by dozing). They would then pray without performing ablution. [Reported by Aboo Da’ud and Ad-Daraqutni graded it Sahih (sound). Its origin is in Muslim].

عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: { كَانَ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-‏-عَلَى عَهْدِهِ‏- يَنْتَظِرُونَ اَلْعِشَاءَ حَتَّى تَخْفِقَ رُؤُوسُهُمْ, ثُمَّ يُصَلُّونَ وَلَا يَتَوَضَّئُونَ } أَخْرَجَهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ, وَصَحَّحَهُ اَلدَّارَقُطْنِيّ 1‏ .‏

Reported ‘Aisha (Allaah be pleased with):

Fatima bint Aboo Hubaish came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said, O Messenger of Allaah, I am a woman whose blood keeps flowing (even after the menstruation). I am never purified; should I, therefore, stop praying? He (the Prophet) said: No, for that is only a vein, and is not menstruation. So when the menstruation comes, abstain from prayers, and when it ends wash the blood from yourself and then pray. [Agreed upon].

وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: { جَاءَتْ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي حُبَيْشٍ إِلَى اَلنَّبِيِّ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ! إِنِّي اِمْرَأَةٌ أُسْتَحَاضُ فَلَا أَطْهُرُ, أَفَأَدَعُ اَلصَّلَاةَ? قَالَ: "لَا.‏ إِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ عِرْقٌ, وَلَيْسَ بِحَيْضٍ, فَإِذَا أَقْبَلَتْ حَيْضَتُكِ فَدَعِي اَلصَّلَاةَ, وَإِذَا أَدْبَرَتْ فَاغْسِلِي عَنْكِ اَلدَّمَ, ثُمَّ صَلِّي } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْه 1‏ .‏
