Use Google Forms for Evaluation - Olivier Rebiere
Introduction
We welcome you to your new book of the collection Guide Education : " Use Google forms for evaluation ", a handy guide that we hope will help you use Google forms in a meaningful and effective way to both spread knowledge to your learners, but especially measure learning achievement simply.
What is a Google form?
☑ A Google form is a web page (accessible only with an Internet connection) that allows multiple-type questions to be submitted to a certain target population of respondents.
☑ The answers given to this form are collected on a Google spreadsheet (called Google sheet).
☑ These data can be visualized by automatically generated graphics (collective or individual responses) or simply used as you wish on a spreadsheet.
☑ If you need, read here an introduction to forms on the Google website https://www.google.com/intl/en-CA/forms/about/.
How to create a Google form?
We are going to answer this question in more detail in a following section. Please note that to access all the free features and applications offered by Google, you need a ... Google account. This way, you can benefit from a whole series of services and free applications which, from our point of view, have become indispensable to us in all our activities.
If you do not have a Google account, the easiest way for you is to use the gateway to Google's ecosystem
as you will see on this webpage by creating a Gmail account https://support.google.com/mail/answer/56256?hl=en.
Once in the world of Google, you will have access to:
☑ A Gmail address based on Google's cloud
(file storage and synchronization service on Google's servers - see if needed the article on Wikipédia on the cloud-computing) accessible on any computer or smartphone Android
☑ A 15GB space on the cloud to store your data and photos, called Google Drive, capable of synchronizing and backing up your data
☑ A YouTube channel
☑ Google maps
☑ The full range of desktop applications that allow you to work collaboratively and in real time: the text editor called Google docs, the spreadsheet creator named Google sheets, powerful online presentations: Google slides, a digital agenda called Google calendar, a powerful list management application Google keep...
☑ Other third-party applications such as the excellent collaborative mind map tool "MindMup and
draw.io ".
☑ etc.
If you would like to know more about collaborative work, do not hesitate to consult our ebook "Management of educational projects - free digital tools" where we present and explain many useful open-source tools.
How to apply forms to education, in general?
As you know, there are many constraints on teachers in general (I will not list them here!), and most of us are lacking of time to dedicate to our students. Google
