The Majestic Ruru
A long time ago in a northeastern kingdom of India, there resided a splendid creature known as the Ruru deer. This magnificent animal had chosen to dwell within the heart of the kingdom's forest, keeping its existence a secret from humans. The deer was an extraordinary sight to behold - its glistening, golden coat dotted with iridescent spots reminiscent of rubies, emeralds, and sapphires. The inviting warmth of its sparkling blue eyes and the gleaming marble-like quality of its horns and hooves contributed to its allure. The Ruru deer was well aware of its allure and knew that its magnificent appearance would incite the greed of men. Being wise, it had learnt to dodge the pitfalls, snares, and traps set by men and had also imparted this knowledge to other forest dwellers to protect them.
Following a severe rainstorm, the Ruru deer was alerted by an unfamiliar noise from the river. Upon reaching the riverbank, it found a man battling the turbulent waters, pleading desperately for assistance. Touched by the man's plight, the deer plunged into the water, battling the vicious currents to reach the struggling man. Climb onto my back,
the deer instructed calmly, and I'll carry you to safety.
The man, awestruck by the magnificent creature, complied, and together they made it to the riverbank. The Ruru deer tended to the weakened man, providing warmth and guiding him back to his city once he had recovered. Touched by the deer's act of kindness, the man inquired, You have saved my life and shown me such compassion. How can I repay you?
