To my husband Matthew, for his unwavering support and pushing me when I wanted to quit, always telling me I was good enough.
To my sister Faye, for her photos on a trip to Lapland which inspired me to create Aurora and her story.
To my children, Amber, Shaun & Paige, growing up with a mum who was always reading or writing, they always said that once I was in my book or writing, there was no point in trying to talk to me, I love you all and thank you for putting up with me.
To my bonus daughter Germaine who always loves to read my work and give me her honest opinion.
And especially to my Pidge, my rock and biggest supporter.

Chapter 1
I am about to do something monumentally stupid—no scrap that—I’ve already done it by sneaking out of lessons. History was never my strongest subject; magnetosphere, solar winds, blah blah blah. My mother always chastised me when I started moaning about History classes, given my name, Aurora, after the very history that made Aurora Jumping possible. So here I am about to do the most idiotic thing I’ve ever done, even worse than helping free all the snow-wings that were in cages in the military communications room. How was I to know they were some of our only communications between the various ice-dome colonies on Europa? I was five for crying out loud! In my childlike mind, they needed rescuing and so with my brothers help, which I might add he didn’t get in nearly as much trouble as I did, we set them free. I got a month of extra duties in the kitchens as punishment. Everybody helped out in Europa’s ice-dome colonies, however the children only got minor duties. The chore I hated most was helping sort the vegetables from our Eco garden into the right baskets so the extra duties put me off being mischievous again… until now.
So with my moon kissed blue hair braided for ease; I knew if it was down, it may cause me a few issues trying to be all stealth and sneaky like. I am ready, well as I’ll ever be. The warning siren pierced my ears, grating on my already shot nerves. It was now or never, the next PAT (Peace Authoritarian Team) about to jump was down to the last agent my timing had to be perfect or I would be caught and marched straight to the council… and my parents, and that would not end well at all.
Founders of the Europa council and head pioneers of the PAT organisation, Estrellita and Zaniah Tempest controlled all Aurora Jumping, including keeping me from joining the team, unlike my brother Pol, short for Polaris. He hated being called by his full name, although our parents were the only ones to use his full name, Polaris Zaniah Tempest, he reasoned it wasn’t grown up enough for him when he went off to train for the team so he shortened it to Pol. I thought it suited him really, but he was always going to be part of the team. He was male, for starters, and from the most powerful family on our icy moon. Unlike Miss Aurora Gem Tempest, only daughter of the family and treated like she was made of glass. I was a lot stronger than they gave me credit for. I had proved in lessons that I was smart and resilient in the coliseum trials – okay so the smart part may have gone out of the window when I decided to do this, but too late now. As I straightened, ready to run, I took one last look around and sprinted across to the jumper gateway and threw myself in just as it
