      From about age 5 to 12, when a person is in school, they go through a lot of changes and growth. It's an honor to see your child grow during this time, but it can also be too much! These age groups each have their traits, and knowing these differences can help you get through the fun (and sometimes hard) journey of being a parent.

      For The Curious Explorers (ages 5 to 7)

      Imagine an endless ball of energy that is driven by a strong desire to learn. The following describes daily life with a child aged 5 to 7. When they learn new motor skills, their physical world grows. They love to run, jump, and explore their surroundings. Their minds soak up information like sponges as they play and makeup stories. They like routines and order, but they also love free-form play that lets them try new things and learn more.  At this time, social interactions are becoming more and more important. New friendships form, usually because of similar interests or being close by. Peer pressure starts to show up, and kids learn how to get along with others in a group. Some people may be naturally drawn to social play, while others may be more hesitant. As they learn how to make friends in the complicated world of friendships, they need patience and help.
