Description
This is a re-upload of our third set of entries in the Palestine, Zionism, and Empire series into a combined episode. In this episode we detail the geopolitics of the Levant from 1945 to 1957. Nick narrates the intersections and contradictions which developed during the U.N. Partition of Palestine; the first Arab-Israeli War; the years building up to the Suez Crisis; the Second Arab-Israeli War; and the unholy union of the U.S.A. and U.S.S.R. against the tripartite of Israel, France, and Great Britain. We conclude that by 1957, the pieces were all in place for the United States to assume its role as the unwavering imperial accomplice to Israel.Though mentioned, Al-Nakba is discussed more substantially in a subsequent episode.
