DJ Alfredo, real name Alfredo Fiorito, has died at the age of 71, it has been reported. The legendary DJ is best known for his work in Ibiza and is credited with helping to create the Balearic Beat sound.

DJ Alfredo Fiorito, renowned for his work in Ibiza, has reportedly passed away at the age of 71, prompting an outpouring of tributes. It was previously reported that Alfredo suffered a stroke in 2021, leading to a fundraising campaign in his support.

Amnesia, the club where he made his name, honoured him with a poignant message on social media.

They penned: "Dear Alfredo, Thank you for the nights and beats we shared together. Your music and vision shaped the sound of Balearic Beat and the soul of Amnesia. So many memories were made through your energy, your legacy will live on our dance floor forever. You will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Alfredo. The Amnesia Family."

Sister Bliss also expressed her sorrow on Twitter, writing: "Very sad to hear the news about DJ Alfredo - my first trip to Ibiza in 92 was to play for him at Amnesia ... safe to say he changed the world of music for the better. Fly high to the great gig in the sky.", reports the Mirror.

A fellow DJ, Dave Pearce said: "Sad to learn Ibiza dance music legend Dj Alfredo has passed away - he was a true pioneer of the Ibiza Balearic Sound through his creativity and diversity in the music he mixed creating a wonderful musical journey - Thoughts with his family and friends RIP."

Someone else wrote online: "This is sad to hear. Legendary DJ Alfredo, one of the pioneers of the Balearic sound, has passed away."

Another person said: "The legend will be missed."

A third person also typed online: "Will never forget your incredible music selection & DJ sets across the decades. A true inspiration."

Alfredo grew up in Argentina before he moved to Spain. He later ended up in Ibiza where his career kicked off and he ventured into DJing.
