Liverpool City Council is looking to bring in bans on pavement parking in the worst affected areas under the new plans.
These new rules outline strong measures to tackle pavement parking head on.
These include drawing up a list of pavement parking hotspots and bringing in banning orders for specific streets.
Target areas such as schools will be at the top of the list of priorities for bans.
Additional parking attendants will also be employed to patrol these areas to enforce the bans and/or restrictions.
Earlier this year a campaign by the Liverpool Echo highlighted the growing problem in city with pavement parking.
Councillor Munby, who acknowledged the ECHO's campaign in his email to councillors, said: “We recognise we need to do something about pavement parking as it seems to be becoming an increasing problem.
Motorists parking on the pavement could face huge fines if caught
“It makes life extremely difficult for wheelchair users, parents using buggies and prams and puts pedestrians in danger.

“We believe we can make inroads in the worst areas by drawing up a list which we can then target repeatedly to send a strong message out that we won’t tolerate it.
“I’ve asked councillors to let me know the roads which it is a real problem and would welcome evidence and suggestions from residents as well.
“It’s important to stress that we won’t be targeting those narrow terraced streets where pavement parking is required to maintain access for emergency service vehicles, such as fire engines.”
Pavement parking carries a £70 in London
Pavement parking is loathed by everyone from other motorists to pedestrians in the UK as it is selfish and dangerous.
It is particularly dangerous for pedestrians including the disabled, elderly and parents with pushchairs who are being forced to walk around these cars into the busy roads.
There are rumours that a £70 fine for motorists caught parking on the pavement could be introduced to stop people from dangerously mounting the kerb.
This is currently the punishment drivers in London can receive for parking on the kerb as it is banned in the capital.
There has been calls for this ban to be extended across the UK to clampdown on the problem.
Charity Guide Dogs has an interactive map where drivers can be named and shamed, in bid to a, bring awareness to the problem and b, discourage them from being a repeat offender.
