Netflix's One Piece fans could face 'long wait' before season 2 rumoured release window
One Piece is rumoured to return for season 2 later this year, though Netflix has not confirmed this.

Netflix fans are bracing for an epic return of the streaming service's live-action anime sensation, rumoured to release its second season within the year, but patience will be a virtue as the wait stretches on.
The series is a live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda's illustrious Japanese manga, which made its smash debut last August 2023, garnering an outpouring of praise for holding true to the original works and encapsulating the adventurous essence of Monkey D. Luffy's (played by Inaki Godoy) quest to be crowned Pirate King.
Although whispers of a 2025 release date were making rounds, Netflix steered clear of confirming an official premiere period. However, there have recently been rumours of a potential release window.
Tudum, Netflix's news hub, appeared to hint at it in a piece about a LEGO and Netflix collaboration, as they announced: "Ahoy, Straw Hats! The Lego Group, Netflix, and Tomorrow Studios are teaming up to bring you treasures you can cherish.
"While you wait for new episodes of One Piece, which arrive later this year."
Despite not pegging a precise comeback date, this suggests the show's second instalment will hit screens by the end of this year, reports the Mirror.
Previously in November 2024, actor Vincent Regan, embodying Vice-Admiral Garp, prophesied a Christmas 2025 launch at Vienna Comic-con, stating: "I've filmed Season 2, everything my character is doing in Season 2 is finished, and now they are finishing in about a month, I think they'll finish filming.
"So I think the show will be ready for Netflix before Christmas next year."
However, other sources claim a 2026 release is more likely.
Given that Tudum has archived the article suggesting a 2025 release and with no official word from the streamer yet, whispers of a 2026 debut may hold some water.
The buzz around the anticipated release timeline prompted one fan on X, the successor to Twitter, to express their excitement, posting: "Cant waitttttt." (sic)
At the same time, another voiced their apprehension, commenting: "If it is late this year people will start getting off the ship."
While fans might have to curb their enthusiasm for a while, they can certainly anticipate the show's lead returnee Godoy, as well as Jazzara Jaslyn reprising her role as Miss Valentine, Daniel Lasker delivering his performance as Mr. 9, Sendhil Ramamurthy joining as Nefertari Cobra, and Katey Sagal returning as Dr. Kureha.
