ORIGIN Edit
MrBeast is an American YouTube Star and social media personality with an estimated net worth of $25 million. His YouTube channel boasts 54+ million subscribers with more than 9 billion video views. He rose to prominence with his “Worst Intros” video series. However, he’s probably best known for his expensive and oftentimes time-consuming stunts. MrBeast holds the record of most liked non-music videos with “Make This Video The Most Liked Video On Youtube.” In 2019, he was nominated as vlogger of the year at the 11th Shorty Awards. Additionally, MrBeast is known for his philanthropic efforts and for donating thousands of dollars to Twitch Streamers, the homeless, and random strangers. He kickstarted the ‘TeamTrees’ initiative/fundraiser in October 2019.

MrBeast was born Jimmy Donaldson on May 7, 1998, in Kansas. His older brother CJ Donaldson is a fellow YouTuber. You can catch him on the channel “MrBro.” Jimmy currently resides in North Carolina. He attended Greenville Christian Academy, where he played both baseball and basketball. In 2016, Jimmy dropped out of college to focus on his YouTube career.

CAREER
Mr. Beast launched his main YouTube channel ‘MrBeast6000’ in February 2012. The bulk of his early uploads were based on popular video games. They included games like Minecraft, Pokemon, Battle Pirates, and Call of Duty. MrBeast’s channel took a turn for the best with the premiere of his ‘Worst Intros’ video series. The series called out and made fun of intros used on many popular YouTube channels. The tactic worked flawlessly and resulted in thousands of new followers. Back then, one of his most popular videos “Worst Intros Ever” was viewed upwards of 23 million times. In March 2018, MrBeast made the bulk of his Worst Intros videos private.

Following the success of Worst Intros, MrBeast shifted his channel towards more real-life videos. This new format has no clear formula and some videos take an incredible amount of time to complete. Such videos include “Breaking Glass Using Only Megaphones”, “I Flew Using Only Leaf Blowers”, “I Bought A Car Using Only Pennies”, “Walking Into Random Stores With 100 Dinosaurs” and “Counting to 100,000 in One Video. His video titled “Saying Logan Paul 100,000 Times” has been viewed more than 16 million times. In October 2018, MrBeast launched a relentless ad campaign to support fellow YouTuber PewDiePie. He bought Billboards, Radio Ads, and TV Ads among others. He even bought bathroom ads to help stop T-Series from passing PewDiePie in YouTube Subscribers. His 2019 video “I Gave A Homeless Man A Home” racked up 7+ million views in under a day.

MrBeast is also known for his generous donations towards various causes. He’s donated thousands to Twitch streamers (ex “Donating $100,000 To Streamers With 0 Viewers”). His August 2017 video “Tipping Pizza Delivery Guys $10,000” showed him tipping hundreds to different pizza delivery guys. He’s given more than $500,000 to random people as of May 2018. MrBeast once again made headlines for tipping a waitress $10,000 after spending only $1 on a bottle of water. One of his more recent stunts “Guess The Right Cup, Win $100,000” gave participants a 50-50 chance at cash. To date, MrBeast has given millions to various charities, donated more than 100 cars, and paid off student loans for several students.

In May 2019, upon reaching 20 million subs on YouTube, MrBeast was tasked by his fans to plant 20 million trees. He joined forces with fellow YouTuber Mark Rober and a few other influencers. Their joint effort resulted in the ‘TeamTrees’ initiative which officially launched in October 2019. TeamTrees has since partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation (nonprofit). As of March 2020, more than 20 million trees have been planted globally. Fans can also contribute to the cause by donating $1 to plant 1 tree. MrBeast’s video “Planting 20,000,000 Trees, My Biggest Project Ever!” was published on October 25, 2019. It garnered 35 million views in the first 10 days.

MrBeast has a second YouTube channel (Beast Reacts) on which he shares life hacks and experiments. He kicked things off with “The Best DIY Watermelon Life Hacks” in October 2018. Other standout videos include “1000 Degree Metal Ball Vs Ice”, “Will 40,000 M&Ms Flush?” and “What Can You Cut With Paper?” The BeastHacks channel has 4+ million subs and 400+ million video views. New videos are typically posted once or twice a week. Other notable channels include MrBeast Gaming and MrBeast Shorts. Outside of YouTube, MrBeast has 12.3+ million followers on Instagram.
