Sam Elliott is an American television and movie actor. He’s known for his distinctive voice, thick horseshoe mustache, and for his many appearances in western films. Elliott was born on August 9, 1944, in Sacramento, California but he later moved to Oregon. He completed a two-year program at Clark College in Vancouver, Washington prior to acting. He played his first credited role in the 1969 film, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. His early television roles include shows like Mission: Impossible, Gunsmoke, and Hawaii Five-O. His filmography includes films like Road House (1989), The Big Lebowski (1998), Hulk (2003), and The Golden Compass (2007). He was inducted into the ‘National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum’ in 2007. Elliott won the Critics’ Choice Television Award in 2015 for his role in the drama series, Justified.
