The Ministry of Housing has concluded the social survey in the Nabua Fiji Muslim League settlement and is collecting information and analysing all the data that they have received as they need to go back to the Cabinet to come up with very practical strategies on how they can address the issue of residents being relocated.

Minister for Housing Maciu Nalumisa says that meetings with the Fiji Muslim League were required for possible actions.

Nalumisa says more meetings with the Fijian Muslim League are needed now to discuss the way forward because the Ministry has requested some time so they could look for land and start relocating those families.

He says the Ministry was working on a 12-month timeline and that is something that they have already requested from the Fiji Muslim League.

He adds currently, from the Ministry's side, they are still analysing the data that they have received from those surveys.

Nalumisa says once that is done, they will then need to come up with strategies on how they can relocate those families because some may want to relocate to the village because some may want to maybe given the land that is offered by the Housing Authority.

Late last year, 200 families residing in the Fiji Muslim League settlement in Nabua were faced with eviction notices, after which Nalumisa met with the tenants to look for a solution.
