Lot Description:c1955-1957 HEINKEL TOURIST
MODEL 103 AO 174cc SCOOTER -
Notes:Heinkel Flugzeugwerke was an aircraft designer responsible for some of the best German fighters of WWII. In 1949 he designed his first scooter, successfully going on to produce a range with a staggering total of 100,000 units. The Tourist Model 103 AO model appeared in 1955, an advanced design with electric start, 4-speed gearbox and 12 volt electrics. It was built from August 1955 to September 1957 and featured a four-speed transmission and ten inch wheels, enlarged from the three speed transmissions and eight inch wheels of its predecessors. These advancements resulted in a larger, heavier, more fuel-hungry scooter but it was a faster and more sophisticated machine. This attractive, stylised model has the dash panel and VDO instruments. Production figures for each Heinkel Tourist model are often in dispute but in the case of the 103 AO, it is purported to be in the vicinity of 34,000. This motorcycle will be sold unregistered
