A Brief History of Raymond Weil

The luxury Swiss watch brand all started in 1976, in the middle of the ‘Quartz Crisis’, when Mr Raymond Weil decided to find his own company. Weil decided to turn his vision of what Swiss watchmaking should be into reality by producing his own timepieces. His creations were praised by watch lovers and they became very popular in Switzerland. In 1982, Weil’s son-in-law Olivier Bernheim joined the company and he helped to expand their reach and competitiveness. Bernherim also helped to build the brand’s identity and marketed the Amadeus collection which helped to establish the brand’s link with music. In 1996 Bernheil became CEO of the company which had built up a reputation as one of the premier luxury Swiss watchmakers.

With family values still being at the forefront of Raymond Weil’s vision, for the 30th anniversary of the brand, Elie and Pierre Bernheim joined the company in 2006; Raymond Weil’s third generation. Willing to add their own vision and know-how, they focused on the development of contemporary and technologically evolved collections that were to become huge successes. Thanks to his sense of traditional values and his young vision, in 2014 Elie Bernheim was appointed CEO of Raymond Weil. Olivier Bernheim became the brand’s president, and this structure still remains to current day.

Today, Raymond Weil remains one of the last remaining independent, family-run Swiss brands. Family values and inclusivity continues to be one of the main driving forces behind the brand and will continue to do so for years to come.

Reliable and accurate, this, alongside the 50 metres of water resistance, ensures the watch is suitable for daily wear. A black genuine calf leather strap, with an alligator motif, concludes the design of this modern classic. Not only does it add a touch of warmth to the watch, but it also provides great security; thanks to the stainless steel yellow PVD folding clasp.

Through the Tango collection, Raymond Weil strives to embody the same passion in their timepieces that is characteristic of the dance. Highlighting the watch’s sensuality, each Tango features a distinctive bezel with six decorative screws. Moreover, with its refined and modern design, this contemporary collection appeals to both men and women.

Bright and fresh, this Tango features a pink sunray dial with a date aperture at 3 o’clock. As well as this, the dial features slim baton-shaped hands and indices. For enhanced readability, in restricted light, the hour and minute hands are treated with SuperLuminova. Sapphire crystal glass adds extra protection against everyday knocks, so the durability levels of this watch are excellent. Moreover, aided by the screwed-down crown, the watch is water-resistant up to 100 meters. Keeping true to the defining characteristic of the Tango collection, a 30mm stainless steel case and bezel with six screws frames the dial.
