Now Bradley Cooper is Leaving Natalie Portman's 'Jane Got a Gun'

After Gavin O'Connor stepped up to replace suddenly departed director Lynne Ramsey, and Bradley Cooper took over Jude Law's role in the western drama Jane Got a Gun, it appeared the troubles might be over for the film produced by and starring Natalie Portman. But that doesn't seem to be the case. THR reports that Cooper is now exiting the role he assumed as the film's villain. This makes him the fourth talent to leave the project, because Michael Fassbender was also once attached as the male lead, but Joel Edgerton, who originally had a different role, stepped up to take his spot. So what the hell is going on here? Read on!
Officially, Cooper says that scheduling conflicts with American Hustle, the project formerly known as American Bullshit with David O. Russell, are an issue, especially after production in Boston was delayed in the wake of the marathon bombings and ensuing chaos throughout the week. In addition, his promo schedule later this month for The Hangover Part III will keep him from fulfilling his duties. There's no reason to doubt that info, but with a troubled production like this, who knows if there's more to the story?
Either way, Deadline reports some interesting potential replacements are being sought including Tom Hiddleston, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tobey Maguire. Apparently Jake Gyllenhaal was already approached, but he passed on the project. Sounds like some big names to wrangle at the last minute for a shaky production, but as cinephiles who always want a good film to triumph even the most problem laden production, we're hoping for the best. this is a real disaster, now. i had heard that Lynne Ramsey's contract stated she would get creative autonomy, but only on the basis that the film met its scheduled release date. arriving on set, it was clear this would never happen without making massive compromises to her vision, so she immediately left, followed swiftly by those who had only signed on to work with her. clearly that's only a rumour, and should be treated accordingly, but this sort of in/out parade of talent can occur when there's a greater desire to meet a deadline than to make the best film possible. people like Portman and Edgerton, but coming off Silver Linings, Cooper is a big loss. i still hope they pull it together.

What a cluster fuck. Really bad for the writer too as this was his first produced film. Poor guy must be a total wreck.
