Grey Wulff

The Stealth Amber Spinner is one of the very successful Stealth series of flies. This is an excellent pattern that imitates the final stages of the life cycle of the naturals. It can be fished with confidence from April until October and is at its best when trout are feeding on spinners in the evenings. The hook is reversed to allow the fly to sit temptingly on the surface film.

Apache Black

The Apache Black is probably the most exciting and devastatingly successful pattern to hit lakes, ponds and reservoirs. Its dark colour profile makes it an excellent imitation of natural insects, particularly in clear water conditions. The fly features a sleek, streamlined design with a hint of sparkle or flash to subtly catch the light. The pulsing movement of the black mink body plus the stimulating flowing and eye catching movement of the marabou and flashabou tail make it a serious killer. Two to three short jerks followed by a steady retrieve, repeat and be ready for savage takes.

March Brown

The March Brown is a superb old classic that will never stop catching fish. It is probably the most famous of all British mayflies and is held in very high esteem by fly fishermen throughout the UK and Europe for its proven effectiveness as a general searching pattern. The March Brown is reputedly a variant of Dame Juliana Berners' Dun Fly of 1496.

It's particularly effective when fish are feeding just below the surface and when sedges are present. Its ability to imitate the movement and appearance of live insects makes it an excellent choice for tricking even the wariest of fish.

Grey Snail

This grey snail, although plain in appearance, matches the typical colour found in many rivers and lakes. Any dirt which may arise while fishing adds to the effect, so you may only want to dab dry once done. Snails can make a great fishing pattern, either in the mid-summer heat or at the heart of winter, as they are a staple food source for fish; ever noticed any snails in the stomach of a fish? In the summer months, if you notice snails floating on the surface use a Floating Line and a long leader and watch the line for the take, usually a gentle draw. During the colder months when fish are retreating in the depths of the water, snails are also clinging onto the water's bed. If nothing is working, try attaching a snail to a weighted Sinking Line to force the foam snail to sink down to the depths where the fish are also sitting. Snails can varying from lentil up to large pea in size.
