Sources: Accrington, Fleetwood and Hibernian race to sign Wolves star Samuels

Accrington, Fleetwood and Hibernian are racing to sign Wolves forward Austin Samuels, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The trio are among a number of clubs keen to take the blisteringly-quick striker on loan for the season.

A Wolves source has told Football Insider that EFL duo Accrington and Fleetwood and Scottish Premiership leaders Hibs have all registered their interest in Samuels.

The 20-year-old had a loan spell with Bradford playing mainly as a wide man but it’s his centre-forward instincts that have caught the eye of many clubs.

His outstanding performance in Wolves’ first Under-23s game of the season has accelerated interest in him.

He produced a man-of-the-match display with two goals against Middlesbrough on Monday evening.

Speaking to Wolves’ media team after the match, the youngster admitted he hoped to “go out on loan again” this summer.

He netted once in 14 matches across all competitions during his loan spell League Two Bradford last term,

Samuels spent the second half of the previous campaign with non-league Kidderminster Harriers, making six appearances in total.

He signed a 12-month contract extension in May that commits him to the club until next summer.

The closest he has come to making his senior Wolves debut was when he was named on the bench for a League Cup tie with Aston Villa in 2019.

The centre-forward has, however, notched 13 goals in 46 appearances for the under-23 side.

He also netted 18 times in 38 appearances before graduating from the under-18 group in 2018.
