On July 17, FOSI responded to a consultation on how to protect children from online harms, overseen by UK’s Ofcom. The consultation focuses on the new Online Safety Act and how to both learn from and build on the Children’s Code.
In its comments, FOSI highlights the importance of a safety by design approach, the specific tradeoffs in age assurance processes, and the significant impact an aspirational baseline standard can have on online safety across the Atlantic and around the world. To view FOSI’s comments, click here.
