87-year-old man wins $500,000 on instant lottery ticket

An 87-year-old Bay County man won $500,000 on a Michigan Lottery instant ticket.

An 87-year-old Michigan man riding a win streak just hit the $500,000 jackpot on a Michigan Lottery instant game. 

The man from Bay County, who chose to remain anonymous, bought the Quick Riches ticket after several wins playing the $5 scratch-off game.

"My wife and I have been playing the Quick Riches game pretty regularly and we keep winning," he told the Michigan Lottery. "We stopped for gas and decided to buy two more tickets and continued down the road."

Back in the car, he had his wife scratch the ticket.

"After a couple minutes she screamed, 'Pull over! We won the jackpot!' As soon as she said that, my legs went weak and I could hardly move. he told the Michigan Lottery. "I couldn’t believe we really had won!"

They'll use the money to help their children and save the rest, according to the Michigan Lottery.

The ticket was purchased at the Kroger gas station at 2910 Center Avenue in Essexville, Mich.
