A new lounge bar could be coming to the site of Whitby's former Star Inn The Harbour restaurant.
Loungers UK wants to open a new place on Langborne Road, which has been empty since 2022. They already run the Marisco Lounge in Scarborough.
If they get the go-ahead, they'll be able to sell alcohol from 10am until midnight every day. The spot is one of the busiest in Whitby and used to be home to the Star Inn The Harbour, which closed in November 2022.

The Michelin-listed restaurant closed after owners blamed the former Scarborough Council for a "lack of support" through the Covid-19 pandemic. Celebrated chef and previous owner Andrew Pern, who comes from Nunthorpe, said he was forced to close the doors "with a heavy heart".
According to the new applicant, the Lounge will be "a neighbourhood café -bar combining elements of a restaurant, British pub and coffee shop culture".
As of last November, Loungers UK Ltd, which is based in Bristol, said it had more than 200 Lounges across the country, including the Marisco Lounge in Scarborough.
They also want to be able to serve "late-night refreshments" from 11am to 12.30am every day. If they get permission, the Lounge at the old tourist information centre, could also sell alcohol to take away as well as to drink there.
While there is a separate area where people can sit outside, no one has asked to use it yet. If you want to share your thoughts about the licence application, you can tell the council by Thursday, March 14.
You can write your comments and send them to North Yorkshire Licensing Services at Scarborough Town Hall.
The location in one of Whitby's busiest footfall areas, with 'spectacular views of the harbour, St Mary's Church and Whitby Abbey', went up for rent in December, last year.
