Mozi App

Mozi is a new app from Ev Williams, the co-founder of Twitter. Unlike his previous foray, Mozi is designed to help people connect in real life by facilitating real-life meetups. It makes it easy for friends, colleagues, and acquaintances to alert each other when they’ll be in a particular city and organize plans from there, granted they’re mutual contacts. Right now, the app is available on iOS only, but don’t be surprised if an Android app launches at some point.
Musical Fidelity M6xTT turntableMusical Fidelity

Musical Fidelity M6xTT

The Musical Fidelity M6xTT is an audiophile-grade turntable that’s essentially a smaller, lighter and more affordable version of the $10,000 M8xTT, which the British hi-fi maker released in 2022. The M6xTT has the same standout transparent design — featuring a dual-layer acrylic plinth that gives the illusion the platter is floating midair — and a redesigned 9-inch tonearm (which is the same as the M8xTT’s tonearm, but an inch shorter). It’s handmade in Europe and isn’t yet available in the US at the time of writing.

2024 Van Winkle Whiskey Collection

Once again, it’s time for the world’s most coveted bourbon collection to hit store shelves — if only for a brief period. The 2024 Van Winkle Whiskey Collection has been announced, meaning you’ll once again be able to test your luck at winning a lottery that allows you to pick up a bottle at SRP. As always, the six bottles in the collection are the Old Rip Van Winkle Handmade Bourbon 10-Year-Old, Old Rip Van Winkle Special Reserve Bourbon 12-Year-Old, Old Rip Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye 13-Year-Old, Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve Bourbon 15-Year-Old, Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve Bourbon 20-Year-Old and Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve Bourbon 23-Year-Old. Some good news this year, though, is that the two most prized bottles — the 20- and 23-Year-Old Pappys — are more plentiful than in past years thanks to some generous barrels, meaning you might actually be able to snag one. Retail prices, which are largely symbolic when it comes to Pappy, range from $130 for the 10-year to $450 for the 23-year.
Pioneer Carry

Pioneer Limited Edition Backpacks

Two of our favorite travel backpacks, Pioneer’s Savant and Duration, have just gotten new limited-edition colorways. The former is now offered in a Tiger Stripe camo, whereas the latter is available in Black & Tan. Aside from that palette swap, they still have the same minimalist styling and impressive features as before.

Völkl x Filip Pagowski

Best known for the iconic Comme des Garçons Play logo featuring a red heart with black eyes, Polish designer and artist Filip Pagowski is an avid skier with a home in Chamonix. That made him the perfect choice for a limited collection with revered German ski maker Völkl, revisiting a trio of popular models starting at $1,200. The Racetiger SL (left) vibrates with speedy energy, the Peregrine 72 (center) rocks a cast of grippy claws honoring its name, and the Blaze 104 (right) integrates the Völkl logo while signaling its all-terrain tire-like traction.

Houseplant Beverages

Houseplant, the cannabis-focused lifestyle brand from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, has entered a new product category: THC-infused seltzer. The seltzers are zero-sugar, zero-calorie and are made with all-natural ingredients. There are four flavors at launch — pineapple, blackberry, black cherry and citrus — and all are easily sessionable with just 3mg of THC per 12-oz can. They’re pretty flavorful, too; think Waterloo seltzer with a very slight cannabinoid aftertaste. The Houseplant Beverages are priced at $20 per four-pack and can be ordered online or found on the shelf at Total Wine stores, depending on the state.

an aston martin hypercar seen head on with its butterfly doors openAston Martin

Aston Martin Valhalla

At long last, the Aston Martin Valhalla is here. The British marque’s first series production mid-engined supercar and its first-ever plug-in hybrid was announced way back in 2019, and now we finally have the first reveal of the version buyers can purchase starting next year. The car’s powertrain combines a flat plane crank 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 — the highest performing V8 ever in an Aston — with three electric motors for a total power output of 1,064 horsepower and 811 ft-lbs of torque. That massive output, combined with the car’s hybridized 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and active aero producing more than 1,300 lbs of downforce, allows the mid-engined Valhalla to rocket to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds with a (limited) top speed of 217 mph. No price has been announced as of yet, but an SRP above $800,000 is practically a given. Production will be limited to 999 units.

Raspberry Pi 500

The Raspberry Pi 500 is the next-generation version of the Raspberry Pi 400. But the Raspberry Pi 500 features the same computing power as the company’s new flagship Raspberry Pi 5, but adds a keyboard and numerous ports for connecting peripherals and displays. It costs $90, but Raspberry Pi sells a desktop kit (with a mouse, a USB-C power supply and an HDMI cable) for $120.

Todd Snyder x New Balance 574L “Pine & Parchment”

Todd Snyder is getting into the holiday spirit with his latest New Balance collab. The designer has taken the classic 574 Legacy sneaker and dressed it up with a mix of clean and “hairy” suedes on the upper, the latter material adding texture and a natural appearance. Snyder drew inspiration from New York’s Flower District at Christmastime for the shoes, which are available in two colorways. The more neutral “Parchment” evokes the paper used to wrap tree trimmings, while the “Pine” takes more obvious direct inspiration from Christmas trees and wreaths. Both are only available from Todd Snyder.

The mouse weighs just 40 grams, charges via USB-C and is compatible with both Mac and PC.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

One of the most anticipated games, 2024, is finally out, and it’s not the Uncharted clone many expected. The early reviews are promising. IGN gave it a 9/10. GameSpot gave it a 9/10. As you’d expect, the game involves living your Henry Jones Fantasies through a series of cinematic missions scattered across the globe. Nazis are the enemy. Puzzles abound. Stealth is prevalent. You can use a bullwhip. It’s available only on Xbox for now, but it will come to PS5 at an undisclosed time next year.

Sun Day Red Pioneer Cyprus

Earlier this year, Tiger Woods kicked off the post-Nike phase of his life by launching his own premium golf apparel brand: Sun Day Red. Now, the brand has taken its next big leap with the debut of its first-ever golf shoe. Dubbed the Pioneer Cyprus, Sun Day Red’s golf shoe is a far cry from anything made by the Swoosh and is more akin to the traditional fairway footwear produced by the likes of FootJoy. Built from the ground up based on Tiger’s own insights, the shoe boasts a 6mm heel-to-toe drop, a TPU full ground contact plate, two removable footbeds — one massaging, one smooth, a waterproof leather upper and a calfskin lining.

It features RGB lighting, customizable buttons and an Xbox button that activates the Windows Game Bar.

Telepathic Instruments Orchid

Years ago, Kevin Parker, the multi-instrumentalist behind Tame Impala, had an idea: a chord-generating machine based of a one-octave keyboard. So he made it. It’s called the Orchid, and it can produce the sounds of a 88-key piano using various buttons and knobs — all packaged into a small, retro-looking synth. Available in 2025.

Vuarnet Altitude Collection

Premium sunglass maker Vuarnet is well associated with hitting the slopes, and now the classic French brand is driving home its winter sports connection even further with its new Altitude Collection. Three new silhouettes draw inspiration from the funky and stylish ski goggles of the 1970s, making them just as appropriate for après ski as the slopes themselves. The Altitude 03 takes inspiration from the brand’s vintage 06 frame, while the Altitude 02 is modeled after Vuarnet’s original 02 cat-eye shape. The standout is the Altitude 01, pictured above, which features a bio-nylon frame with extensive side shield protection and HD polycarbonate lenses. Non-polarized styles are priced at $320, with the polarized version going for $380.

Most notably, like some downhill mountain bike helmets, it can convert from open face to full face — handy for terrain parks and particularly gnarly descents — in seconds thanks to ICP’s favorite scientific discovery: magnets.

the jaguar type 00 electric concept carJaguar

NEW CONCEPT

Jaguar Type 00

Jaguar’s controversial new rebrand has taken its boldest step yet with the introduction of the Type 00. The EV concept, unveiled during Miami Art Week, represents a radical departure from the British heritage brand’s classic design aesthetics. A two-door GT putting out 1,000 fully-electric horses, the Type 00 features a radical design that is a lesson in contrasts. Its long hood and fastback roof are reminiscent of classic Jag V12-powered grand tourers — and decidedly atypical for an EV — while the rest of the design’s angular, polygonal lines more closely resemble the sort of 1980s retro-futurism seen in Blade Runner. Then there are the bright colors, the glassless rear, and the repeated horizontal “Strikethrough” graphics that are just, well, unique. Jaguar acknowledges that not everyone will love the Type 00, but that’s not really the point. Much of Jaguar’s problem has been a lack of attention paid to the brand compared to other luxury marques, and the Type 00 certainly has people talking. Jaguar’s first production car under its new brand direction will be a four-door GT that will debut in late 2025. It’s unclear how much of the Type 00 will show up in that car.

Bell & Ross BR-05 Skeleton Arctic Blue

There’s no worse feeling than checking the time on your luxury watch only to discover that your crystal has been smashed. Unless that is, you have the Bell & Ross BR-05 Skeleton Arctic Blue on your wrist, in which case, the cracked sapphire crystal is a deliberate talking point. This limited-edition version of the French brand’s integrated sports watch is inspired by the Arctic and features a blue plate of glass embedded in its sapphire crystal that’s been laser-engraved with faux cracks. The effect is ostensibly meant to resemble cracked ice, and I suppose it does, but it also serves to transform the watch into an avant-garde work of art and conversation piece.

Girard-Perregaux Laureato 38 Expansion

The Girard-Perregaux Laureato is one of the OGs of the integrated luxury sports watch trend. First arriving on the scene in 1975, a year before the Patek Philippe Nautilus and just three years after the Royal Oak, it’s undoubtedly an icon in the space. The modern incarnation of the watch consistently ranks among the best watches in its category, but it has also garnered complaints from fans for its size. Most Laureato models are on the larger side at 42mm, with just a single regular steel model — with a copper dial — existing at 38mm. But no longer. GP has listened to its fans and added two more Laureato references in stainless steel with a 38mm case size. One boasts a Midnight Blue dial, while the other features a Sage Green dial with gold accents. Both models are now part of GP’s permanent collection, finally giving those wanting a smaller Laureato more options.

Best Made Co. Famous Red Belt

Sometimes a belt is just a belt. Other times, so much thought and care goes in that it becomes a potential future heirloom. That’s the story with this USA-produced beauty, made using leather from 157-year-old, Pennsylvania-based Wickett & Craig. It is one of the last remaining vegetable tanners in the country and the same source Best Made leans on for its axe blade guards and cap straps. The belt features the Best Made’s own “Be Optimistic” slogan on the inside, and the bold red — the longest wavelength in the visible light spectrum — comes from natural tannins from tree bark and fruits, helping it develop a lovely patina over time.

Kia EV9 GT

As the first mass-market all-electric three-row SUV, the EV9 has been a massive hit for Kia. The vehicle’s family-friendly bona fides are well established, but now the Korean automaker has gone and made the EV9 into a tire-melting performance machine. Unveiled at the LA Auto Show, the upcoming Kia EV9 GT boasts dual electric motors fore and aft that combine for 501 horsepower. Coupled with the Virtual Gear Shift transmission and e-AWD system, that’s enough to rocket the three-seater from 0 – 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds. The EV9 GT is expected to arrive in the US in the latter half of 2025, with pricing to be announced closer to the launch.

Hyundai

Upcoming Release

Hyundai IONIQ 9

Hyundai revealed the IONIQ 9 at the 2024 LA Auto Show. It’s a three-row SUV that follows in the footsteps of the very successful IONIQ 5 and 6 and the Kia EV9. Aesthetically, it’s distinctive and appears to marry the front of a traditional crossover to the back of a Volvo V90 from the early 2000s. It’s also slightly longer and taller than Kia’s current gas-powered three-row Palisade. But that size allows for many interesting six or seven-seat configurations. One version includes rear captain chairs that extend out with massive and luxurious footrests. Other options show the rear captains swiveling around to face the back row. It should also offer at least 300 miles of range on all models, support the Tesla Supercharger network, and come in both performance and long-range options in rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. Expect the vehicle to go into production in the spring of 2025 and hit lots sometime in Q2.

NEW COLLAB

Zenith Defy Skyline C.X Edition

Zenith’s flagship integrated sports watch, the Defy Skyline, has shown itself to be a versatile canvas for all sorts of cool collaborations. The latest comes from California-based retailer Collective Horolgy and takes inspiration from 20th-century industrial design. The watch attempts to embody the “less is more” approach of early modernism, with a cleaned-up dial that removes the date window and moves the 1/10th of a second register from 9 o’clock to 6 for greater symmetry. The starry dial has been re-engineered to have a more three-dimensional appearance, and the entire steel case and bracelet — saved for the polished edge of the bezel — have been given a sandblasted matte finish. Just 200 examples of the watch will be produced, available only at Collective Horolgy and Zenith’s online boutique.

Bogner Bond Hybrid Jacket

If you can stomach the Bogner tax, some pieces in the high-end German ski apparel brand’s new BOGNER 007 Collection look pretty sharp. One highlight is this mid-layer, featuring a combo of quilted rip-stop and quick-dry power stretch fabric, a two-way zipper and style that will serve you well from the slopes to the après scene. Fun fact: Bogner comes by this collection honestly, as Willy Bogner Jr. worked as a cameraman on numerous Bond films, and Roger Moore rocks the brand’s gear in three of them.

Pizza Hut PIZZAWRMR

Have you ever been playing a video game and were forced to take a break to heat up a slice of pizza? OK, so maybe this isn’t a real problem plaguing society, but Pizza Hut has found a solution for it anyway. The Hut’s Canadian branch came up with a 3D-printed pizza warmer that fits perfectly on top of a Sony PlayStation 5 Slim and uses the console’s warm air pipe to directly reheat pizza. The unique console topper opens like a laptop and has enough room for several slices. It’s obviously meant to be more of a silly conversation piece than an actual appliance, but if you have a 3D printer and are interested in serving up some PS5-prepared ‘za, you can download the print for free at the below link.

Obermeyer has done just that with its impressive-looking new Off Grid Collection, highlighted by the Steibis System, a performance-driven capsule of jackets, anoraks and bibs for men and women who dare to brave the backcountry. The shell shown here boasts 3-layer protection, a 30k/30k waterproof and breathability rating, pit zips, a two-way front zipper, pockets where you need them and an adjustable, helmet-compatible hood. One other feature we love? What the brand calls Kit Connect, a series of strategically placed magnets that keep tops and bottoms together and prevent that sweet, sweet pow-pow from sneaking in and freezing your butt off.

Woven into shape by the last knitter on the Island of Guernsey who practices traditional seamless knitting, this sweater’s lack of seams makes for better insulation, performance and durability, according to Best Made Co. Ribbing at the neck, cuffs and hem helps seal out the elements, while British wool keeps you cozy.

Modena Automobili: Maserati Biturbo Shamal Restomod

In 1989, Maserati launched the ultimate expression of its Biturbo sports car: The Biturbo Shamal, a two-door GT with aggressive angular styling courtesy of the legendary Marcello Gandini and a 322-horsepower, twin-turbo V8 powerhouse that made it one of the most thrilling cars of its era. Now, a new Italian company dedicated to resurrecting great sports cars of the 1970s and ’80s is bringing the Biturbo Shamal back to life with a stunning restomod. Project MA-01 from Modena Automobili borrows the twin-turbo V6 from the current-gen Maserati Ghibli S and tunes it to 500hp, mating it with an 8-speed ZF transmission and state-of-the-art suspension and brakes. The car’s body has been extensively reworked for a retro-modern look, upping the aggressive styling of the original Shamal with more pronounced lines, additional air intakes, and heavy use of carbon fiber. Modena Automobili is planning to make just 33 units of its Maserati Biturbo Shamal Restomod, to be priced at €585,000 (~$637,000) and delivered in Q1 of 2025.

New Program

Vacheron Constantin Certified Pre-Owned

Rolex will always get the lion’s share of credit for launching the first major certified pre-owned program back in 2022. Still, Vacheron Constatin’s decision to officially join the movement is a big deal for the industry, given the watchmaker’s status as one of The Holy Trinity of Horology. While the company has sold restored vintage watches in the past, the new CPO program will include a larger swath of models and add new layers of reassurance for tentative buyers. Specifically, Certified Pre-Owned Vacheron Constantin watches will include a minimum 2-year international warranty, a “digital passport” for tracing the watch’s ownership history, a CPO guarantee letter and a pouch with an official CPO program seal. Interestingly, Vacheron states that Watchfinder, not the brand itself, will run the program. But it’s also worth pointing out that the same parent company, Richemont, owns Watchfinder and Vacheron. We don’t yet know what models, if any, will be restricted from the program and, most importantly, whether these CPO watches will be sold online or exclusively through Vacheron boutiques.

NEWLY ANNOUNCED

Bertone Runabout

Italian coachbuilder Bertone and automotive designer Marcello Gandini had quite the legendary run together in the 1960s and ’70s, with the pair producing such iconic cars as the Lamborghini Miura and Countach and the Ferrari 308 GT4. One of the most thrilling concepts to come out of their partnership was the Autobianchi A112 Runabout in 1969, a compact sports car inspired by the racing boat style of the same name and whose wedge design went on to influence the Lancia Stratos and Fiat X1/9. Now, the recently-rebirthed Bertone is bringing back the Runabout as a production car, and its retro-futuristic design looks like nothing else on the road. Slated for the 2026 model year, the new Runabout will come in your choice of a Targa with removable roof panels or an open-air roofless version more in line with the original design, with both options being powered by a mid-mounted V6 cranking out 500 horsepower. The new Bertone Runabout is expected to start at €350,000 (~$381,000), and prospective buyers can register their interest now at Bertone’s website.

Buffalo Trace’s most anticipated whiskeys of the year have arrived. The 2024 installment of the vaunted Buffalo Trace Antique Collection is here, and just as in years past, it’s sure to be a highly coveted release. As usual, the five bottles comprising the BTAC are as follows: Eagle Rare 17-Year-Old Bourbon, George T. Stagg Bourbon, Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Straight Rye Whiskey, Sazerac 18-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey and William Larue Weller Bourbon. This year, Buffalo Trace is touting the Weller as the standout bottle in the collection — something reviewers often do anyway — and it just so happens to coincide with the 25th anniversary of its parent company Sazerac’s acquisition of the Weller brand. Each bottle in the 2024 BTAC is sold separately and retails for $150 — but good luck finding any at that price. Due to sky-high demand and short supply, the street price will undoubtedly be many times the retail price.

Prices will start as low as $50,000 for the Traveler after incentives and a couple grand more for the Terra, with the SRP of each coming in below $60K.

The Driving Machine: A Design History of the Car

The Driving Machine is part an exploration of the evolution of cars, blending history, design, and culture, as well as a personal narrative. Tracing 170 years of automotive innovation, Rybczynski highlights key models that defined eras, from Carl Benz’s groundbreaking three-wheel motorcar to the rise of electric vehicles. He brings to life the stories of visionary designers and engineers who shaped the industry, from Henry Ford’s mass-produced Model T to the chic Mini Cooper. Rybczynski also examines how cars embody national identity, such as Italy’s Fiat Cinquecento, and subcultures like the iconic VW bus during America’s counterculture movement. By unpacking key technological advances, he shows how cars are a result of relentless innovation and trial-and-error. With personal anecdotes about the cars he’s owned and whimsical illustrations, Rybczynski’s book offers a different take on how the automobile transformed society and our sense of style.

Tesla

Upcoming Release

Tesla Cybercab

After years of teases, claims and delays, Tesla has finally publicly shared its vision for the autonomous taxi of the future. The so-called Cybercab unveiled with fanfare and flash at Warner Brother’s movie studio lot, appears to blend current Tesla design cues and Sci-Fi movie props. The autonomous two-seater vehicle borrows details from the Cybertruck, Model X, and Model 3. The butterfly doors open upwards at an angle, while a massive-looking single rear hatch covers the entire back half of the vehicle’s sizable looking trunk. There’s no semblance of manual driving controls such as a steering wheel or pedals inside the cabin, which currently violates existing federal safety regulations but would maximize the interior space for passenger comfort. The vehicle also lacks a charging plug. Instead, it’s designed to charge wirelessly via induction charging mats or, eventually, tracks on roads. However, no further details were shared on the feature. Like Tesla’s today, a large infotainment screen sits in the middle of the cabin. Musk made several bold claims that the Cybercab would head into production “before 2027” while expecting the vehicle to cost less than $30,000. He also stated that consumers could buy Cybercabs and offered visions of how some in the future might own and manage fleets of vehicles like shepherds tending sheep. Your guess is as good as ours on how much of this actually comes to pass, at least on the timescale Musk wants.

Why have just one date window on a watch when you can have two? That’s the question German watchmaker Nomos is asking with its latest model, the Tangente 2date. Utilizing a brand-new in-house movement from the brand, the ultra-thin, hand-wound Calibre DUW 4601, the watch displays the date in two places on the dial. A traditional date window appears at 6 o’clock, offering a clear view of the current date, while a ring around the outer edge of the dial shows the current date’s place within the month.

New Release

Ooni Karu 2 Pro Multi-Fuel Pizza Oven

Ooni’s just updated the Karu 16, which we called Ooni’s best pizza oven. Compared to the original Karu 16 multi-fuel, the new Karu 2 Pro ships with an improved Clearview glass door that’s 45% bigger than before, making checking in on your cooking progress easier. It also ships with a new Ooni Connect digital temperature hub with a dedicated food probe that can wirelessly sync with the Ooni App for remote temperature monitoring. Temp control has also improved thanks to a new rear inlet control. Like the original Karu 16 multi-fuel, the Pro 2 is compatible with wood and charcoal fuels out of the box, but propane’s an option, too, with an additional adaptor that’s sold separately. Most importantly, it’s still big enough to cook 16″ pizzas or other items like breads and steaks thanks to 5.7″ of internal oven height. The oven will officially be available for purchase at the end of October.

Hoosier

New Release

Hoosier TrackAttack Pro Tires

One of the biggest names in track racing has released its first-ever street-legal tire. The TrackAttack Pro is a new summer performance tire available in 46 different sizes for rims with a diameter of 15 to 21 inches. According to Hoosier, the goal was to create a tire that could go from the driveway to the track and back again. But the launch has also generated immediate controversy in some racing circles, according to Ford Muscle. Some early reports noted that groups immediately banned the tire, including the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and the Ultimate Street Car Association (USCA). The truth seems to be a bit more nuanced, though. Given the newness of the tire and its late launch this calendar year, it looks like both leagues need extra time to evaluate the tires before making a final decision on their use in 2025 and beyond.

Leica

New Release

Leica Q3 43

This is in many ways a riff on the original Q3 launched in May 2023. It’s nearly identical outside the longer, aspherical APO-Summicron 43mm f/2 lens attached to the front, a grey leatherette coating and a number 43 engraved into the hotshot. It is also 15 percent more expensive than the original price point of the Q3. Nevertheless, the new focal length is a crucial change for photography fans pining for a premium camera with a field of view that does its best to mirror the viewport we naturally see through our eyes. Read the full review on DPReview.

In Redbreast’s words, the result is a mature whiskey that “bridges the gap between our older and younger offerings” while offering a flavor profile “of dark chocolate, blackcurrants, and hazelnuts.” It’s now available nationwide for an MSRP of $250.

They’re on sale now in white, black and purple color options.
Bitmo Lab

New Release

Bitmo Lab Gamebaby

Apple’s decision to allow emulator apps earlier this year immediately made the iPhone an excellent option for replaying Gameboy games, granted you were ok interacting with a touchscreen or were dedicated enough to keep a Bluetooth controller close at hand. Bitmo Lab’s Gamebaby offers a different solution. It’s an iPhone case with a removable bottom panel that can be flipped and slid on the bottom front half of the iPhone. Once it’s in the correct position, the d-pad and physical buttons apply force to the right spots on the iPhone’s touch screen while running the Delta emulator app, providing the feel of a physical controller without requiring any Bluetooth pairing or battery drain.

KitchenAid Artisan Design Series Evergreen Tilt-Head Stand Mixer

We’ve all heard the form-over-function shtick at some point. But where do you stand on it? The new Evergreen Design Series sports a unique matte forest green color and walnut bowl instead of the usual stainless steel. The combination gives the iconic stand mixer an earthy, natural feel that’s certainly nice to look at. The tradeoff is that the wooden bowl requires a lot of TLC. According to KitchenAid, it has to be washed by hand and immediately dried after use. It also requires regular seasoning with food-safe mineral oil, walnut oil, or manufactured food-safe wood polish. This routine isn’t just a vanity measure. It’s needed to keep the bowl food-safe (think: preventing raw, beaten egg residue from seeping into the wood.) KitchenAid also isn’t currently selling the walnut bowl separately.
Widow Jane

Upcoming Release

Widow Jane The Vaults 2024: Amburana Wood Cask Finish

Brooklyn-based Widow Jane started The Vaults series back in 2019 as a way of showcasing how various wood finishes interact with older whiskeys. The latest in the series follows a burgeoning subtrend in cask finishing involving Amburana wood casks. Amburana is a hardwood native to South America mainly associated with cachaça production and has a reputation for adding “cinnamon roll” flavoring to whiskey (i.e., baking spice, vanilla, etc.) It’s not the first whiskey to mess around with the unique wood, but the 15-year-old, 99 proof blend might be the oldest whiskey we’ve seen embrace it. Only 4,000 cases will be available starting in October for an SRP of $250.

As tasteful and cool as the garments appear in the lookbook, the prop selection might be even stronger. Case in point, our founder Eric Yang quickly clocked the 90’s E38 BMW 750 used in a photoshoot involving Pierce Brosnan, which Bond nerds might recognize for its prominent role in Tomorrow Never Dies. The entire collection is available now in Kith stores as well as online at Kith.com

Over a decade later, a new entry is finally joining the distiller’s signature series. Leica remains committed to championing one of the market’s most divisive camera form factors: display-less digital cameras. Other modern conveniences onboard include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 1,800 mAh battery, USB-C connectivity, plus 256 GB of internal memory as well as an SD-card slot. The M11-D is also the first camera beyond the M11-P to feature new content credential capabilities based on Content Authenticity Initiative’s (CAI) standards. And yet, its screen-less, classic SLR body styling, and 50-year-old Leica M-mount system create a distinctively old-school feel. The final result is what Leica describes as a camera with a “digital heart” and “analog soul.”

Sony

New Release

PlayStation 5 Pro

The rumored and expected late-cycle update to the PS5 is finally out in the open. The new PS5 Pro is aimed at diehard gaming fans who obsess over frame rates. Sony considers the new system “the most visually compelling way to play games on PlayStation.” That’s all made possible thanks to a beefier GPU, which offers 67 more Compute Units than the current PS5, as well as 28% faster memory. Together, these spec bumps make rendering up to 45% faster, at least for games optimized for the new machine and featuring “PS5 Pro Enhanced” labels. Advanced ray tracing support and AI-powered upscaling will also help improve the look of older PS5 and other legacy titles. Strangely, the PS5 Pro doesn’t include a 4k Blu-ray drive like the original PS5, though including a 2TB hard drive and Wi-Fi 7 support are meaningful hardware perks.

New Release

Apple iPhone 16 Pro

The most significant change exclusive to Apple’s new iPhone Pro lineup is larger screen sizes. The new Pro line features 6.3″ and 6.9″ screens, up from the previous generation’s 6.1″ and 6.7″ options. The phones are slightly taller and wider as a result, though not by much thanks to a reduced bezel size around the display. They also boast the “best iPhone battery life ever”, according to Apple. A new goldish-looking color option dubbed Desert Titanium joins the black, white, and silver colors launched before. The cameras are improved with tweaks creatives and professional media users will value. The primary 48MP Fusion camera features a second-gen quad-pixel sensor with zero shutter lag in ProRaw and HEIF photo modes. The smaller-sized iPhone Pro also gains the tetraprism zoom lens design for the 5x telephoto camera that was previously reserved for the iPhone Pro Max. Like the new iPhone 16, a new camera control button on the device will unlock a variety of new photo capture interactions and controls, including a two-stage shutter that can lock exposure and focus, which will come via a software update later this year. Though few will likely use these capabilities, new shooting modes, including 4k120 in ProRes that can be directly captured to an external storage device thanks to faster USB-C transfer speeds, the ability to adjust video playback feed post-capture, and frame-by-frame color grading are all icing on the professional camera capability cake here. Even the mics have been updated to “studio quality” and offer a variety of new ways to record and isolate audio, including capturing spatial audio. Prices start at $999 for iPhone 16 Pro and $1,199 for iPhone 16 Pro Max. Pre-orders will begin Monday and ship next week on September 20th. A18 Pro

New Release

Apple iPhone 16

The latest baseline iPhone received a variety of significant hardware leaps. As you can tell from the press photo, new colors are brighter and bolder than in years past. You can also see that two new buttons are present, including the programmable action button first launched in the iPhone Pro line as well as a new physical camera control button that sits flush right below the power button. The camera control button can trigger the camera’s shutter control in addition to providing faster access to other camera settings thanks to the ability to sense hard presses, soft presses and finger swipes. But the button is clearly intended to be a physical prompt for Apple’s upcoming AI-powered intelligence features too. The idea is that users can point the phone at certain objects and click the camera control button to see relevant data about whatever they are viewing. Speaking of cameras, they’ve been upgraded to include a 48 megapixel main shooter as well as a new ultra-wide lens with auto focus that’s capable of macro shooting. A 12MP 2x telephoto is also available via software innovations applied to the main camera unit. The positions of the two cameras on the 16 have changed slightly to be more vertical, presumably to help the device better shoot spatial videos originally showcased with the launch of the Vision Pro. The iPhone 16’s processor has also jumped from an A16 to an A18, making it 30% faster than last year’s model and ready for Apple’s onslaught of AI-powered software tricks. The battery is bigger as well, offering what Apple states is “a big boost in battery life.” Two versions will be available in 6.1 and 6.7-inch screen sizes.

New Release

Apple Watch Ultra 2 Satin Black Edition

Apple focused its most significant changes this year on the baseline Apple watch. Still, the Ultra received a new “satin black” color option and a new titanium Milanese Loop strap option in black and silver colors to match the watch. The new color will cost $799 and is available for pre-order today. It’ll ship on September 20th.
Apple

New Release

Apple Watch Series 10

The 10th generation of the Apple Watch finally brings notable hardware changes fans have been waiting for. It features the largest display ever on an Apple Watch, even bigger than the Ultra 2. The screen is now also a wide-angle OLED, making the watch easier to read at an angle and in bright light. It also features a faster refresh rate in low-power mode, allowing watch faces to show seconds ticking away. Size-wise, the series 10 is coincidentally 10% thinner than the previous Series 9 and 10% lighter. Apple has improved charging, too, so that the watch can go from 0 to 80% in 30 minutes. Lastly, the baseline aluminum and new titanium versions embrace a shiny, polished aesthetic in various colors, including black.

Refresh

Apple AirPods Pro Max (Updated)

Apple’s premium AirPods Pro Max didn’t get the overhaul many had hoped for. Instead, a USB-C charging port now replaces the aging lightning connector. The previous color options have also been replaced by five new colorways: starlight, orange, purple, blue and midnight. And that’s it. These changes are so minor that Apple’s not even calling this new iteration the AirPod Pro Max 2; they’re still just the AirPods Max. They’ll also still sell at the same premium price of $549 when shipping begins on September 20th.

DUER Stretch Canvas 7 Pocket Pant

Forget what you know about canvas, as DUER has spun the typically heavy, rigid material into a performance fabric thanks to 360–degree stretch fibers, a signature motion gusset and a DWR light-rain repellent treatment to keep you dry out on the streets. Available in three colors — black, teak and pine (shown) — the pants also boast a dyeing technique similar to what is used in denim, allowing them to pick up a pleasant patina over time. Keen

New Collaboration

Keen Jasper Zionic x Gramicci

Just a few weeks back we waxed on about how Keen’s new Jasper Zionic “combines the best of two Keen models.” This new collaborative edition with outdoor lifestyle brand Gramicci adds a touch of 90s cool to the fast and light hiker and is available in olive and horse colorways. In case you’re unfamiliar with Gramicci, it’s an old-school outdoor brand that traces its roots back to California’s climbing community in the 1980s, like many of today’s mainstream outdoor gear juggernauts. Between now and then, Gramicci’s added a global cult following in streetwear thanks to warm receptions in trend-setting markets like Japan.

Lego

New Release

Lego Over the Moon with Pharrell Williams

Pharrell Williams doesn’t appear to age like the rest of humanity, so collaborating with one of the few brands on earth that stokes everyone’s inner child makes perfect sense. The new Over the Moon Set champions Pharrell’s creative optimism and personal love of space. The included abacus of 50 different Lego character head designs also emphasizes Williams’ belief in inclusivity while highlighting just how far Lego has also come as a toy maker in that department. Given Pharrell’s longstanding status as a trendsetter and relatively recent role as the creative director of Louis Vuitton, we won’t be surprised if this set is quickly adopted as a fun piece of display art for hypebeasts around the world. It’s available for pre-order now and begins shipping September 20th.

The Macallan

New Release

The Macallan TIME : SPACE

The Macallan TIME : SPACE is a whisky unicorn of the highest order. The ringed bottle in the image contains an absurdly old 84-year-old single malt scotch distilled initially in 1940. The whisky itself is a blend of two barrels, a first-fill American Oak Butt and a second-fill European Oak Butt, both of which were seasoned with sherry in Jerez de la Frontera and left to age in Speyside, Scotland. The smaller decanter shown in this image on the side celebrates the opening of The Macallan’s new distillery back in 2018. It contains a 5-year-old single malt distilled during the launch year. The bottle is shaped to fit inside the open center ring of the larger circular bottle, and together, they fit inside an oak sculpture made from alternate layers of American oak and European oak. Only 200 versions of the set will be sold by invitation at an undisclosed price, though it’s safe to assume it’ll cost over $150,000.
ReMarkable

New Release

reMarkable Paper Pro

Alex Cranz at The Verge called this gadget “the hypercar of E-Ink note-taking devices” for good reason. The 11.8-inch tablet pushes e-ink tech to its limits to create the ultimate digital notebook. The most significant innovation here is a unique color e-ink display combined with some intelligent software tricks that allow the reMarkable Pro to faithfully render books, slide decks, PDFs, and other docs without the downside of a frustratingly slow refresh rate. Like other reMarkable tablets, the textured display replicates a paper-like feel when using a stylus, while a front-facing reading light makes the tablet usable in darker settings. The catch is that the Paper Pro costs as much as more capable devices like Apple’s new 11-inch iPad Air. The well-regarded keyboard accessory makes price an even more significant cause for pause, given it costs $229.
Audi

New Release

2025 Audi Q5/SQ5

Audi has unveiled its first total redesign of the top-selling Q5 model since 2018. Aesthetically, it’s entirely different, boasting completely new headlights and taillights, smoother, longer-looking side surfaces, and an extended hood that nearly touches a 3D honeycomb grille. Audi also raised the location of the headlights and rear by over an inch and a half to make the machine look more like an SUV and thankfully ditched the previous gen’s fake exhaust tips. Sharing Audi’s awkwardly-worded “Premium Platform Combustion platform” or PPC means the Q5 will receive the same engines found on the A5 and S5, including a cleaner running 268-hp 2.0-liter turbo-4 by default as well as the beefier 362-hp 3.0-liter V-6 for the SQ5 variant. All-wheel drive with torque vectoring and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission also come standard. The interior is completely revised too with screens galore, including an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen curving toward the driver, and even a 10.9-inch passenger screen that works for streaming or relaying driving directions to share with the driver. Other highlights include a fully adjustable rear seat that can move lengthways and tilt to increase or decrease trunk volume, a special compartment for storing the luggage cover, and the option for laptop-grade 100W charging in the rear USB-C ports. Prices will remain a mystery until later this year, with new models expected to ship early in 2025.

It also has a bonkers 10-day power reserve, 100m of water resistance and excellent lume. Lots of Panerai GMTs have this movement and these features, though, so what sets this one apart? It’s the case material. Made of black ceramic, the watch is highly resistant to scratches from any bumps along your travels, and its low-key matte black finish makes it less tempting to watch thieves than gleaming stainless steal.
