Halwill Junction nature reserve

A stretch of boardwalk takes visitors along the first 150 metres or so of this nature reserve, which is along the lines of the former railway tracks to the north of the village.

Once a busy railway junction this Inn was beside the station. A railway level crossing once crossed the road here. Now there is no trace of the railway but the Inn still survives named after the railway which shut in 1966.

Named by someone with an ironic sense of humour; the modern estate is built close to the site of Halwill Junction station and Dr. Beeching was responsible for the closure of passenger services in 1966.
