Pollacapull Lough is split into two by the N59 road. This is the upper part looking towards its foot. The mountain is Mweelin. The view is from a path leading from Kylemore Abbey to the Gothic Church and the Mausoleum.

The church (almost hidden on the right) and house were built by Mitchell Henry in the mid-1800s. The garden, now being restored, was famous for its extravagant bedding.

Peat drying by Pollacappul Lough
The area between the N59 and the Mweelin River is flat bog with peat cutting. The lines of small pyramids for drying the cut peat are commonly seen in this area, sometimes together with the larger beehive-like mounds which are also common.... (more)
