World War II defences
Near to Goodrest farm is Bannerhill Camp, a Second World War anti-aircraft 3.7 inch battery and prisoner-of-war unit. Four gun placements survive plus a partly sunken control room. The camp was built in 1940. The camp also housed about 80 POWs.
