Gawthorpe Hall is an Elizabethan house at the side of the River Calder, in grounds to the north east of the town of Padiham. The house was built in 1600 around an earlier pele (peel) tower (LinkExternal link ). It was the family home of the Shuttleworth family until 1970 and is now managed by Lancashire County Council and The National Trust. It is a Grade I listed building.
