Fort Blockhouse
On the tip of the Haslar peninsula stands Fort Blockhouse, originally dating from the 15th century, but the visible remains only date from 1845. Until 1999, the site was occupied by HMS Dolphin, the submarine base, and the Submarine Escape Training Tower (seen in the background) remains operational. The site now houses the Royal Navy Submarine Museum and is used for accommodation.
