NS2160 : Inverclyde National Sports Training Centre
taken 7 years ago, near to Largs, North Ayrshire, Scotland
Scotland's national sports training centre on the outskirts of Largs caters for multiple indoor and outdoor sports. Wheelchair accessible throughout, it also offers residential accommodation and conference facilities.
The centre was the brainchild of the late Lord Inverclyde, after whom it was named (it should be noted that it is not located in the adjacent Inverclyde Council area). Lord Inverclyde was the president of the Scottish Council for Physical Recreation until his death in 1957. The centre was opened by Queen Elizabeth in 1958 and was largely rebuilt and extended in 2017/17.
It is used primarily by elite sportsmen, including the national football team, but is also open to members of the public.
