Old and New Red Triangles
Old and New Red Triangles
I don't know when red triangles first appeared on traffic signs, but this old one on its solid iron post looks to have been around for a long time.
A rare survivor, like its modern replacement it was probably warning about the cross roads up ahead on Harlington High Street.
Comment from fellow contributor David Howard - "Your theory is correct, this began as a bare triangle with a crossroads sign added later, which then had to be removed when it was converted into a roundabout."
