When is comes to style, Kate Middleton knows exactly what works for her. Jewel-toned suits and dresses that hit at the knee, nude patent leather pumps with a slim platform, and the odd cloche or tiara are the go-to looks for the Duchess of Cambridge. So you can imagine how blown away we were when Kate defected from her practically written-in-ink style book to choose a sexy cutout blue evening dress to wear this evening.

Kate arrived at SportsAid's 40th anniversary gala in London wearing a formfitting column in magnetic Yves Klein-blue. The body-con dress was designed by Roland Mouret and allowed for the rare exposure of the royal's bare shoulders. Looks like Kate's just like us (i.e., addicted to this season's shoulder-baring trend). She finished off the look with modern, front-facing hoop earrings. It's a far cry from the classic stripes she wore when she matched with Prince George!
