Filipino food has been hailed among the Top 50 Best Cuisines in the World in this year’s TasteAtlas Awards.

The Philippines’ popular native dishes Tortang talong, Lumpiang Shanghai, and Sinigang na baboy were identified as the Best Dishes while Banana Ketchup, Bangus, and Kesong Puti were named Best Products as the country placed in the 19th spot in the world’s best ranking released by the online food encyclopedia.

Filipino food garnered a 4.39 rating from experts and diners, outranking cuisines from fellow Asian countries Korea and Thailand in the list topped by Italian Cuisine.

The TasteAtlas annual ranking for the World’s Best Cuisines, traditional dishes, restaurants, and food cities is based on over 100,000 user ratings for all dishes and food products on its website.

The all-time Filipino favorite, Adobo, featured as the national dish of the Philippines, was ranked 81st in the list of the best traditional food in the world published in December.

Another beloved Filipino dish, the Pinoy Sisig, was listed No. 72 in the ranking under the Pork Dish category.

Meanwhile, the Philippine cities of Quezon City and Makati in Manila were also featured in the top 50 list of the best traditional food cities by TasteAtlas.

Sinigang, a sour soup native to the Philippines, was earlier named the World’s No. 1 vegetable soup by the online world food atlas.
