Samantha Logan is an artist that didn't make it in the big city and has decided to go back home to live with her grandmother. Something is drawing her back there. She finds out that the mansion next door has recently been occupied by the son of the people who owned it before, Malcolm, and he's gorgeous. She feels an attraction to Malcolm that she can't explain and starts having dreams about him. Sara learns secrets about her family's past, how they are linked to Malcolm and the threat that looms over them both and those they love.

This first book is 3 stars when it comes to the heat but Ms. Humphreys was just warming us up. The romance is beautiful and the world of the Amoveo Ms. Humphrey's has created is fresh and original. I'm giving it 4 stars because I've read book #4 in the Amoveo series already and this series just gets better. (Hotter) If you like classic paranormal romance then this series is for you. The Amoveo are shifters. Their original language is the one we know as Latin. Amoveo is Latin for "shift". I suggest that you read these in sequence, though each book can stand alone.

I had the pleasure of meeting and dining with Sara Humphreys at the Barbara Vey Reader's Appreciation Luncheon in April 2012. I learned of her Amoveo series through that luncheon. I enjoyed it and several of her books from the Dead in the City series immensely.

Wow that was awesome!!!

Read the first chapter of this and just had to buy both installments. This first one does not disappoint. I loved it!

Characters are explained beautifully. The story is captivating and fast paced I could not put it down.

I loved that Sam wasn't a whiny overprivledged character, she was strong willed and her temper cracked me up. Malcolm was all out hot, even though he knew who Sam truly was he never pushed her into anything and went out of his way to make her safe.

I like that they had the connection at the start but grew to love each other.

I really liked the telepathic communication between not only the Amoveo clans but between Malcolm and Samantha especially where she cuts him off Hilarious.

We got to meet briefly 4 more shifters and woohoo I hope they all get a book.

The story is beautifully written and I look forward to the rest of the series.

4 and a half stars

One of the best shapeshifter books I have read! If you are looking for a fun, sexy read with shapeshifters that also have magic then give this book a go.

I picked this book up at the library after reading the back cover. I really loved the whole entire book. The book put a whole new spin on the world of shapeshifters or should I say the Amoveo. The Amoveo are an ancient race of shapeshifters who have a wide range of abilities, for example with a wave of their hand they can light a fire, that is not all; they can do much more, but I won't spoil that for you.

In this book I got to connect with more than one character. This book had alternating character situations, but it was always easy to know when the book shifted to another character's point of view, because they were spaced out appropriately.

Malcolm is out to make a connection with his mate, and his abilities have weakened a lot because he has not yet mated. Although he is eager to connect with her he is very patient, and learns that since Sam knows nothing of the Amoveo yet he has to work her into the process, but in the end he realizes it will work out just fine. This is why men in books like this are perfect! This is how I pick up the ultimate book boyfriend.

Samantha aka Sam has no idea what she may get when she moves back home away from a relationship with a controlling man, but all she knows is that she is happy to be rid of the jerk, and ready to be close to family. She quickly adjusts to being back home and realizes she has more than one surprise coming her way. Not only that but this new great looking neighbor that she seems to feel a strong connection with is living next door. She can't help but start to fall for him as time goes by. Sam is an extremely strong female and she doesn't take any crap from anyone, and she will live the life she chooses. I admire her passion that she has for art, and her passion to have feelings for others, and not just herself. She is a very likable character.

Meanwhile Malcolm and Sam hit it off and their romance blossoms, but it seems there is someone dangerous after them, and other Amoveo as well, and that is where the plot twists come in, and I found myself having my jaw drop multiple times. This book was not predictable at all. I was shocked at many times while reading this book. I finished this book at 6 AM, so you can see it was an all nighter type of book.

This book has some intense sexual romance scenes, and some violence as well. I would not recommend this book to anyone under 17.

In the world created by Sara Humphreys, shapeshifters live quietly among us. They are the Amoveo and there are ten clans, including lions, tigers, coyotes, foxes, bears, eagles, gyrfalcon, but the wolf clan is all but extinct.

What Samantha Logan doesn’t know yet is that she is a half-breed. Her father was the last of the wolf clan and her mother was a human with psychic gifts. Her dreams have been leading her back home to her family’s Rhode Island beach house.

Malcolm Drew has been waiting from Samantha to come home. His dreams have been leading him to her. She is his soul mate, and his energies will continue to deplete until they are finally mated. First he must explain to her about who she is and about the dangerous humans of the Caedo who want to kill the Amoveo. Just like they killed Sam’s parents.

Malcolm isn’t the only one watching Sam. The Amoveo counsel are waiting to see if Sam can find her inner wolf. It would mean a new beginning for their dwindling numbers if they can find mates among gifted humans. The Caedo want to make sure that the beasts haven’t tainted human blood.

Unleashed was completely unoriginal and predictable with a bland couple and even blander plot that could have come out of at least 100 PNRs. The writing style was choppy and brusque with ends of chapters that were uninspired and didn't make me want to read more. I finished it because I had it at 1.5x speed and the narration wasn't half bad.

Neither continuing with this series or reading this author again.

Unleashed introduces a fascinating paranormal race of shapeshifters. The Amoveo are comprised of different animals clans, from bears, eagles, foxes, wolves and much more. Aside from shapeshifting, an Amoveo can communicate telepathically, has the power of visualization and can travel at the speed of thought. Every Amoveo has a mate that they connect with in the dream realm. When a couple mates, their individual powers are strengthened, but being mated does make them more vulnerable, because should one mate die, the other will as well. As extraordinary as they are, they simply want to live a normal life undetected among humans, but their enemies who have been hunting them for centuries are dead set against their existence.

When Samantha decides to return to her childhood home she discovers that she is an Amoveo, and her enigmatic neighbour, Malcolm is her mate. As much as she wants to deny her heritage, she can't. She has dreamt of Malcolm all her life, before she knew who he was. She communicates with Malcolm in her mind and most unsettling, her eyes have changed to wolf ones. It is Malcolm, an eagle Amoveo who mentors her through this, a gentle lover who guides and earns her trust. Their new-found connection is threatened by a Caedo, part of a group of humans determined to destroy the Amoveo race.

The Amoveo left quite an impression. They are a complex group that I really enjoyed learning about. Where there is a lack of world-building, there is a lot of social-building. Sam is a hybrid, rare and the offspring of a wolf father and human mother. Essentially, she is the best of both worlds and because of this is very relatable. Malcolm has a bit of alpha in him. He can be overbearing at times, is overprotective, but he balances these with a tender and understanding side. This is important because Sam's last relationship was with a controlling man and the last thing she needs is to be controlled. The interesting characterization does make up for a less interesting setting as the story mainly takes place in Sam's neighbourhood with the occasional outings to the town. There is also the introduction of other Amoveos, who play small but important roles in the story, which hints at future stories. One of which I am hoping for is Dante and Kerry's story. This is one group of shapeshifters that I am looking forward to reading more about.

A Long and Short of It "BEST BOOK"

The characters within this story will be running through my mind indefinitely. Unleashed is the type of story you think about months and even years later and decide you must read it again.

Amoveo’s are like shape shifters but much more. With the paranormal romance industry booming, it can be difficult to find a story that distinguishes itself from the thousands of others, but this story has done so. I tried to think of other stories to compare it to, and I could not think of one. This attribute alone would have been enough to keep me interested, but that was not the only thing that kept the pages turning.

Samantha is unique -- the first human amoveo hybrid -- and that can't be easy. There is something to be said about her composure when so much is thrown at her. Her life is turned upside down when she decided to move back home, but then she finds about a secret race and that she is part of it, yet she still never looses who she truly is. That is one tough woman that anyone might feel threatened by. The subtle strength that she demonstrates throughout this story is what really makes her remarkable.

Malcolm is everything you want in a hero of a paranormal romance story. He has brute strength, is drop dead gorgeous, a little arrogant, and has a huge heart. I had to check to see if I was drooling a few times because he was just perfect in all ways that matter.

The conflict was another fascinating aspect of this story. It created mystery and excitement. I keep trying to pinpoint who exactly was targeting Malcom and Samantha, but every time I tried to figure it out, I came up with more questions than answers, which I loved. Up until the very end the author kept me on high alert while trying to figure out who the antagonist could be. With all the buildup I was expecting an extremely climatic ending, and that is exactly what I got.

Unleashed earned its Best Book rating in spades because I can't wait to reread it and am dying for the sequel. The characters haunted my dreams and I thought about this book constantly. I am recommending this story to everyone I know.

Samantha Jane Logan is an artist living in New York City that has been haunted by the same of dreams. In her dreams there is a man, but she can never quite see who he is, but she is drawn to him. Her life in NYC is just not going as she pleases, with theses intense dreams creeping in every night she longs for and sense she needs to be there. Samantha packs her VW Red Bug and heads home to Rhode Island and back to the comforts of her childhood home, with her Nonie (grandmother).

Malcolm Drew is an Amoveo of the Eagle Clan. He is devastatingly handsome and has been waiting for Samantha to come home and to him. Malcolm has been waiting for what seems forever for his mate to return, so they can bond or he will risk losing his powers and eventually his life. He is drawn by the force that is Samantha, but he is at a disadvantage as his mate has no idea what she is and what they are to one another. Can Malcolm convince her of what and who she is for them to bond, before all is lost?

The fascinating world of Amoveo have ten clans that have been around just as long or longer than humans. There are ten clans among the Amoveo; bears, coyotes, eagles, foxes, gryfalcon, lions, tigers and wolf, but the wolf clan is nearly extinct. Samantha is the last of the Wolf Clan and she is a hybrid being half human as well. Malcolm spends a good part of the story telling Samantha about he Amoveo. It is important to understand the history to understand why their mating and love is so strong and hypnotic. Samantha learns a lot of fun interesting characteristics the Amoveo have, but along with the fun there is danger lurking about. She is informed that it isn’t just peace harmony for Amoveo kind. The Caedo is a group of people that have made it their mission in life to kill hybrids like Samantha. Samantha is at crossroads; she is being pulled to Malcolm at a magnetic pace, but she doesn’t want to lose herself and further more it is hard to accept that she is half wolf. On the heals of trying to understand and accept all these crazy developments there is the Caedo trying to kill her, which would mean killing Malcolm as well.

Captivating and original. Sara Humphreys managed to create a universe really interesting with shapeshifters yes but not the most common ones and that’s really refreshing. Here the Amoveo, kind of shapeshifter with magical abilities, are structured in ten clans: eagle, bear, fox etc with a Prince at the top of the “hierarchy”. Even better cross mating can happens and the child with have one of other clan from his parents so you don’t know which one until the first change.

So far also, nothing is said about an obligation to change, no real compulsion. These Amoveos are in a way strongly normal even with their special abilities. Also they can only have one mate and they can only have children with their soulmates. They are keeping their existence secret from humans but two groups know a lot about them. One, The Vasullus’ Family, decided to help them by serving and protecting the Amoveo and the second the Cadeo family is their enemy and wants to obliterate them from the planet thinking they are abominations.
However, things are not so simple and Sara Humphreys has managed to let allusion about that in the story before revealing it more directly in the last chapters so the readers could guess the problem but the culprit isn’t so easy to identify.

The rhythm is perfect for the plot not slow but gradually moving up. The action is really present but the violence is concentrated at the end of the story for the bigger part. All is centered about the romance between Samatha who doesn’t know that she is, in fact, the first Hybrid known and Malcom the last of the Eagle clan. That’s the first time I encounters a eagle shapeshifter and it was really good. The characters are well constructed and I loved to see how Malcom was trying to adapt himself to the reality of the special situation while letting Samatha have the time she could need to understand this new world for her. It was sweet and very thoughtful of him even if he has difficulties to respect her privacy with the mental connections.

The fans of paranormal romance should be very happy with this original story.

I am a lover of most paranormal reads. And this book is a different twist of shapeshifters. I will admit that this is one of those books that I bought because I couldn't find what I was looking for. So I was browsing the shelves and this book caught my eye. When not knowing what to get, I scan the shelves and see what is eye catching. This cover caught my eye. The hunky male chest, the beautiful winged bird and the amazing light colors of blue were beautiful. I read the back and thought this looks interesting so I got it. It has sat on my shelf FOREVER! I am a collector of books. My TBR list is terrible. But I finally decided to give it a read. I am sooo glad I did.

The Amoveo shifters are amazing. This books gives you just a lil bit of everything. A lil romance, a lil intrigue, a lil sex and a lil bit of lies hanging in the balance. It keep me wanting to turn each page. Keep me wanting trying to figure out who the bad guys were. And surprised me when I found out who they were. I kinda sorta thought I might know who one of them were. But kept doubting myself because to me I just couldn't figure it out completely. The second just caught me off guard. Usually I can figure it out. Not with this one. For that reason it get 4 stars from me. I love being caught off guard and taken by surprise. Glad I finally read it and I will be buying the next book in the series.

My only issue is do I get the next book on my Kobo or continue to get them in paperback? Kobo only has the first two in their store. It would be soo much easier to get them for my Kobo since my shelves are already overflowing. But Kobo only has the first two. Soo much likely I will get them in paperback. Which means I will have to wait til in can get to Barnes & Noble in the next town over. And if I can't find them their I will have to order them on line. Grr... Hate having to wait to get them. But I will get them. Really enjoyed this book.

Lately I had been craving a really good shifter book. I've been stuck on Vamps/angels/demons/ect. for a while and needed something new and fresh! That is exactly what I got with Unleashed and more!

Unleashed is Sara Humphreys' first published book and it is beyond fabulous! This is the first book in the Amoveo Legend series and it is a great kick-off for the series! There is great world building and character development.

Sara has created a fascinating new kind of shifters. Ten different clans all together. They all share a common enemy: the Caedo. The Caedo are a group of humans that are determined to eliminate all of the shifters and their mates. It's obvious that Mrs. Humphreys' is an incredibly talented writer and this magnificent tale should not be missed by paranormal romance lovers! I mean it! Go pick this book up!

Unleashed is the tale of Malcolm, the great eagle and completely sexy, charming, and all around swoon-worthy alpha-male hero. He's been searching for his mate for years, and now that he's found her, he'll do anything in his power to keep her safe. Samantha, his mate, is half wolf, half human, but has yet to find that out. Will their love be enough to conquer all the obstacles that stand in their path?

This book is a fast read packed with romance, action, and suspense (along with a creepy villain). It is a tale of true love, the importance of family and friendship, and sadly of ultimate betrayal.

I cannot wait to dive deeper into the series with Unleashed's sequel, Untouched, which is the story of Kerry and Dante! I really liked the small glimpses of Dante from Unleashed, so I am eager to read his book!

I encourage you to pick up this book if you are a fan of shifters or paranormal romance in general! You won't be disappointed!

I absolutely loved this book! Can't say it enough, and can not wait for Untouched in 2012.
Sam is just your ordinary gal looking for the same thing as others, her career to take off and to find that special man.
Malcolm is unlike most men in many ways, but like them in others. Fiercely protective, knows who and what he wants, and goes for it. The two of them together makes perfect sense.
I knew throughout reading that we would encounter the 'bad guy', but at every turn my mind was being changed about who I thought it was, going back and forth trying to figure it out. That's another thing I liked about it, it kept you guessing.
Of course, there are more single men to find their mates, so hopefully there will be quite a few books in this series.
*knucke bump* You rocked it Sara!

This book is awsome!!!!! It is completely different from other shifter books that i have read. It is non stop action and adventure with love thrown in. I could not stop reading this. I always wanted to know what was going to happen next. Having an extremely hot hero helps too.
I am in love with Malcolm. He is the hero of the book. He has a posessive side for those for whom he cares about. But he does have a loving side for Samantha. You know hoe much he loves her. His nickname for her says it all.
I have to admit that i was suprised to find out who the villian of the book was. The saying keep your friends close and your enemies closer fits to the shocking end of the book.
if you like reading about shifters, i highly recomend readinf this.

Did I buy this book for its cover? Yes, perhaps I did. So I am glad to be able to tell you, that the story is well worth it. I enjoyed discovering the world of the Amoveo very much.

Sam has been trying to make a living as an artist, a painter, in New York City for years. Waiting tables to make enough money to live in a small apartment. But success is not on the horizon yet, and she has been dreaming of home lately. And so she decided it was time to stop waiting for life to happen and go back home, to the small beach town she grew up in. Her grandmother loves to have her back, and she can wait tables in the local diner to earn enough money for her art supplies if needed.

One other person is anticipating her arrival though: Malcolm Drew, her grandmother’s next door neighbor. He is Amoveo, a shapeshifter, member of the Eagle Clan. And Sam doesn’t know it yet, but she is his mate. Her father was of the Wolf Clan, although her mother was human. She is the first hybrid with the powers of the Amoveo, and this gives their dying race the chance to find more mates among the humans with psychic powers.
They are hunted by human hunters, known as the Cadeo, and they have killed Sam’s parents when she was just a little girl. Her grandmother raised her since then. Her father was the last of his Clan, and now Sam is the last Wolf shifter. Malcolm will have to tell her about her heritage, and make her believe it, and accept him as her mate. And it has to be fast, as he will die without mating with her. But now that she has come this close, now that he has seen her, his powers are already returning to him.

It is a lot for Sam to take in, moving back in with her grandmother, getting a job at the local diner, meeting a hot man who is very interested in her, and vice versa, and having to deal with her stalker ex-boyfriend who won’t take no for an answer and won’t accept that she broke off their relationship after a month. Lucky for Sam, Malcolm senses her distress and comes to the rescue. It is not easy to believe his claims, especially that she herself is a shapeshifter as well. But their telepathic connection makes it hard not to belief in everything he tells her, especially when she comes eye to eye with his eagle form.

But danger doesn’t only come from the hunters…

I enjoyed this book very much. I did have some trouble in the first part of the book, with some of the too easy language used in dialogue, but I got used to it fast. I like Sam a lot. She doesn’t give up, and she doesn’t give in too easy either. When Malcolm’s overprotectiveness crowds her, she pushes him back, and keeps him out of her head.
Malcolm has known that Sam is his mate for a long time, but when she moved to New York, he lost the connection between them. Still, when he finally found her in the dreamtime, his hope returned that he would be able to claim his mate at last. He would never force her, she would have to choose him of her own free will. But he would certainly try to persuade her, seduce her, get her to know him. Even if it means courting her like an ordinary human. He did not expect to fall in love with her, just because they are destined mates, but he did.
He is strong, and honourable, and a business man in daily life, taking care of the family business while his parents are in Italy. His only companion in the states is his old butler, Davis, who has been working for his family for ever.

There is a little secondary romance between Davis and Sam’s grandmother, which I thought sweet. Sam’s grandmother is feisty, and loves to play bridge and gossip with her friends. Meaning everyone knows about Sam being back home and that hot man next door who likes her.

The suspense in the end is very well done, but to be honest, I did suspect something like that well before it was revealed.

I also liked the fact that different Clans of shapeshifters can mate with each other, and that their children will be one of the two, which will only be known at puberty. There are 10 clans, and I am looking forward to finding out what they all are.

I am looking forward to the next book in this series, and I am very happy that it is on my shelves already.

Welcome to the world of the Amoveo.. Sara Humphreys creates a wonderful world full of rich characters with a lush sensuality.

Imagine if you will a place where shifters abide alongside humans. I know not so hard to imagine these days. The Amoveo are a breed of shifters that are bound by fate to their soul mate. There is only one in the entire world for them (I always wonder if there are actually more that could become soul mates but when you find one you instantly bond.. what would happen if you met two at once? Ok back on topic) Imagine there is only one, now imagine that once you find that one you bond for life.. when one dies, so does the other.. usually within a year. Not too bad one has to take the good with the bad and the trade off is a really long life. Except, the human enemies have discovered this fact and have been slowly annihilating your race over time. Some of your clans have only one member left. It seems that extinction is not far away. When suddenly, you find one lone wolf has found his mate in a psychic human.. hmmm.. one would think hope would burst forth.

Samantha has a lifetime of odd dreams.. a voice in her head calling her name but just recently they have returned sensual dreams. Erotic moments in time.. Deciding that her life in New York is not working she moved back to her hometown.. to paint, to be with family and to start over. She was tired of waiting. Leaving behind a job that meant nothing and a brutish ex she happily begins anew. Only now there is a gorgeous man next door who is very interested.

Malcolm is a man to just sit and drool over. Who wouldn't want a gorgeous, rich, smart man to notice them.. well smart man who turns into an eagle. He has come to his family estate to meet his mate. To bond with her and begin their life together. Easy Peasy right? All the Amoveo know that once you meet your mate life is golden.. *grins* poor Malcolm has to fall for the first Hybrid ever. A species that no one even knew was possible let alone that one existed. So now not only does he have to meet his mate he has to explain what the Amoveo are.. but first he has to court her as a human. Poor guy..

Not only do Malcolm and Samantha have to learn about each other, Samantha has to learn about her Amoveo half but there is someone out to get her. A member of the Human clan that wants her dead. She has been followed her entire life. They have been watching to see if she is "infected" if she too will turn into a freak.. And now that she has met her mate they want her dead.

One would think that would be enough, but there are those of the Amoveo who also believe she is a freak of nature and should be put down. Who believe that only pure Aomveo.. seriously what's a girl to do? well if she's smart she will fall for the one man determined to give her the world, to give put her happiness first and to protect her at all cost.

While you can see there are plenty of similarities in this series to others.. the world Ms Humphreys has created is so wonderful, that these characters stand out. Sensuous love scenes, great secondary characters and an excellent two pronged evil to fight. All of you check out this series..

Unleashed by Sara Humphreys
Paranormal Romance – Oct. 1st, 2011
4 stars

A stunning new shifter series will thrill paranormal fans who love the genre.

Samantha failed as an artist in N.Y.. Discouraged, she returns back home to lick her wounds. However, the mysterious and primal new neighbor named Malcolm catches her eye. Soon Malcolm is explaining to her the secret of her heritage. She is actually part Amoveo. A race of rare shifters. And she is the last of the wolf clan and can actually turn into a wolf! Plus she is his fated mate. In disbelief Samantha tries to deny Malcolm’s claims but cannot help realizing the truth of his words and the passion of his kisses.

As the last of the eagle clan Malcolm has waited years for his mate to mature. For without her to eventually bond with he is slowly losing his powers and any hope of continuing his line. But he refuses to force her. He loves her fierce spirit but fears for her life. For the fanatical Caedo family has hunted the Amoveo to near extinction and now have their sights fixed on Samantha. Can he convince Samantha the truth of his words before it is too late?

This was a fascinating world. Anyone who loves shifters will be thrilled with this new series. The author vaguely refers to the very hunky men of other clans and leaves a lot open for exploration. Samantha is a fierce and independent woman who is easy to relate to and her grandmother Nonie brings family charm and warmth to this story. Malcolm is definitely a sexy alpha but I liked that he doesn’t try to force Samantha even if it would be safer for her and gives her choices. The premise for the story is absorbing but the details of the Amoveo world are not as fully fleshed as I would have liked. So I hope the author fills in more details about the men and their charismatic leader Richard. I was particularly interested in Richard as he is very powerful and already has a mate and would enjoy reading about both of them in future books?! I can’t wait to read more about the other clans and understand more how they interrelate. The only thing which bothered me was the ending/villain which is supposed to be a surprise but really seemed tacked on and unnecessary.

A spectacular new series sure to capture the imagination.

New to me author * winks * and I got the privilege to read the ARC. The beginning starts out slow but this is to be expected for the first book in any series. Sara does a complete and wonderful job of setting up the background of The Amoveo. Then the story gains it’s momentum, drawing you in to read more about Malcolm and Samantha.

This book is for anyone who loves animal shape-shifter stories. The history of The Amoveo is important, so do not try to skip or skim those parts. Else you would not get a clear and deep understanding of the characters.

Malcolm – In the beginning I was struck by how different he was from the other Heros I read about. Clueless how to interact with Samantha’s human side, I like the fact that he was patient with Sam. The way he approached the matter in the beginning of their relationship, the mindset, that though he was impatient and wanted his mate, HER feelings and opinions mattered.

This endeared me to the hero BIG time. It was found to see such an arrogant man flounder in our social customs.

Sam – Her character I did connect with. She was easy to like. I gave her kudos for how she handled her past relationship before Malcolm. Here we have a heroine that has some self doubts about her appearance. This made her human to me, able to connect.

Will I read more in the Amoveo series? Oh yes! Unleash whetted my interest and I’m anticipating the next book. ( Really stink at reviews(

Unleashed is an amazing book of sexy shape-shifters, romance, danger and love. I really enjoyed this first book in the new Amoveo series, shifters with incredible powers. This book focuses on Samantha Logan who is, unbeknownst to her, the last of the wolf clan. She is also one of a kind, half wolf and half human. She begins having dreams of a man she can’t see and of moving back to her childhood home. After having been in NYC trying to make it as an artist and failing, she decided a new start is in order and follows her dreams, she goes back home.

There she meets Malcolm Drew. Malcolm is an Amoveo from the eagle clan. He knows that she is his mate. Sam has no idea about the Amoveo. Malcolm begins dating her and easing her into the Amoveo world. Sam begins to trust him and he will protect her at all costs. He is gorgeous, strong and so sweet with Sam. The sparks fly between them. There is also danger waiting, as humans that hunt and kill Amoveo, have found them. This book builds their world and sets up what promises to be an amazing series. This book action, mystery, and hot romance! The ending sets up book 2, Untouched, which I’m eagerly awaiting. This book is a great read for anyone who loves paranormal romance, especially shifters.

Samantha has had enough of New York. Enough of not selling her art and enough of not finding Mr. Right, so she moves back home. She has definitely noticed some changes. Like her sexy neighbor Malcolm.

Malcolm tells her of the shape-shifting Amoveo clans and it seems unbelievable to her. That they really exists and she is one of them. An Amoveo hasn't been attacked or killed since Sam's parents. But with her return she's in much danger. The enemy has their sights set on both her and Malcolm.

I'm a sucker for true mate stories and this one sucked me right in. Unleashed is a story of dreams and shape-shifters. Both Samantha and Malcolm were great characters to read about. Their romance was sweet and passionate. An enthralling story. One of the things I enjoyed was that the author didn't just stick with one animal. The Amoveo Clans shape-shifters are all different kinds of animals. Sure keeps things interesting. Ms. Humpreys has created a fantastic world, a unique one too. Her world will leave you wanting more.

Unleashed is a refreshing read for those of us who enjoy shifters. This book is just fun- I just liked it, plain and simple. The author did a fabulous job with her descriptions, I felt like I was in Sam's studio, standing next to her, staring at her paintings. The story leaped out at me and off the pages.

The characters were absolutely enthralling and three dimensional- especially Sam's gram. She was hilarious and witty. And I may as well add that Sam is incredibly likeable (though I didn't find myself relating to her) and Malcom is deliciously self assured. I didn't always believe the chemistry between Malcom and Sam, but their interactions were adorable nevertheless. I think that the book didn't receive four stars from me because the lack of connection I felt to Sam.

There are ten Amoveo shifter clans, and I'm crossing my fingers that each clan gets a book. This series has so much potential and I can't wait to see where Humphreys takes the next novel. Unleashed is a quick read, fast paced and perfect for just about any paranormal romance fan out there. :)

Samantha Logan had tried to establish a career in New York as an artist, but it never bore fruit and after ten years she heads back home. She doesn't expect to meet her mysterious neighbor Malcolm Drew not does she expect his unwavering interest in her.

Malcolm knew Samantha was his mate and unlike other mated couples, she doesn't seem to understand the significance of the dreams she is having of them together. How do you tell a women who doesn't know she is part shifter that she is his mate? Throw in a relentless danger that is determined to annihilate their race.

Very different, I liked this a lot. I enjoyed the fact that Samantha was unsure of Malcolm and the author took the time to cultivate their relationship. Great read, looks to be a series I need to read more of.

I'm so glad I'm on vacation! I started reading Unleashed last night and it was so good I couldn't put it down until I just finished it. Just as I suspected, this book was AWESOME! It was just as good if not better than Untamed. No need in waiting to buy the downloads for Untouched & Undenied. However, Undone doesn’t come out until May 7, 2013 Bummer! After reading only two books by Sara Humphreys I can safely say she’s a favorite and in the same category as my other favorite authors, Tessa Dawn, Christine Feehan, Jacquelyn Frank, JR Ward, Rebecca Zanetti and so many others. This series is definitely a must read. :)

I was fortuned to have the privilege to read the ARC. This is a must read on your list Having read the original Amoveo Legacy and now the new version Unleashed was wonderful to see the changes and have the story develop and grow so amazing! Sara draws you into the story! It is so intoxicating that you find yourself on the sidelines like you are seeing it unfold before your eyes.
Sam finds herself attractive to Malcom not knowing he is her mate. Malcom has to convince her to trust him and introduce Sam to their Amoveo world of shape shifters and tells her she is one.

This story got better as you read further. A bit slow in the beginning but that is only due to needing to set up the background of our characters. History is a must where our hero and heroine are concerned.

Samantha returns home to her grandmother following a strange and compelling set of dreams that seem to pull at her like a magnet. Her mother and father died when she was young so she really doesn't know anything of her heritage and that will become quite a problem as the story unfolds and gets more involved.

Not quite fully human and not quite fully animal thus fitting into the hybrid, halfbreed category is what makes her dangerous to some and a great hope to others. The question lingers, "Will the unknown save her or destroy her and all those who have placed a great hope on her?"

Malcolm is Amoveo. Half human, half animal total male and beyond handsome will make him irresistible to almost all females. Malcolm has found his soul mate but how to get her to him and how to tell her of the real him is going to require a ton of patience. Not only that but he must try and convince her that she is also as he is but not quite so. This will become a difficulty that will show patience is a virtue and can sometimes become deadly.

Our author has done a good job at giving us some much needed background in order to see where this story comes from and where it will be going. It just takes a bit to get to the better more action packed parts. Don't give up on this one as it does have fantastic potential that will hopefully pour into the next two installments. I was a bit reserved but really did like it in the end.

The story is quite believable with sizzling sexual chemistry that is sure to please all. I really can't wait to see where we go to next.

Unleashed is the first book in The Amoveo Legacy series by Sara Humphreys and a Romance from SourceBooks Casablanca.

Book Blurb:

What if you suddenly discovered your own powers were beyond anything you’d ever imagined...

Samantha Logan’s childhood home has always been a have, but everything changed while she was away. She has a gorgeous new neighbor who introduces her to the amazing world of the dream-walking, shapeshifting Amoveo clans...but what leaves her reeling with disbelief is when he tells her she’s one of them...

But shock turns to terror as Samantha falls prey to the deadly enemy determined to destroy the Amoveo, and the only chance she has to come into her true powers is to trust in Malcolm to show her the way...

My thoughts:

Samantha Logan never knew her parents - they died in an accident when she was six months old.
She knows nothing of her Amoveo heritage, or the fact that her father was a full blood Amoveo who married Sam’s human mother.

That makes Samantha a hybrid and vulnerable.

The Caedo are known enemies of the Amoveo and they will stop at nothing to find and destroy any and all Amoveo they can - like they did to Sam’s parents.

But there is a more sinister enemy among the Amoveo - one that is unknown. Purist Amoveo who are against human/Amoveo matings - and they hold no loyalty to Samantha or her full blood mate, Malcolm.

Unleashed is the first book I have read by Sara Humphreys and I enjoyed it.

I like the fact that the Amoveo are ten clans of shifters - I’m hoping for a book from each shifter clan.

I give Unleashed 4 out of 5 stars.

I really, really enjoyed reading Unleashed by Sara Humphreys! It is a first book in a new series about the Amoveo. Amoveo are a different type of shifter. They are made up of 10 clans or types of animal. This book focuses on Samantha Logan who is the last of the wolf clan, unbeknownst to her. It begins in NYC. She is an artist trying to sell her art and failing. She decides to go back "home" to be with her grandmother. After she is home, she meets Malcolm Drew. Malcolm is an Amoveo from the golden eagle clan. He is convinced that she is his mate. Convincing her, however, won't be easy because she doesn't know of the Amoveo. While Malcolm is trying to court her and ease her into the Amoveo world, they run into problems. It appears that the Caedo, humans that hunt them and try to kill them, have found them. Malcolm will stop at nothing to keep her safe. This book has some of everything! It has action! It has mystery! It has romance! I am eagerly awaiting the next book! I love the way the ending sets up the next book. I would recommend this book to everyone who likes paranormal romance. A must read for anyone who loves shifters.

Love a good shifter romance. This series has shifters in various animal forms. The hero in this one takes the form of an eagle. The hero is, of course, tall, built, and studly. Just the way I like 'em. The heroine is only slightly annoying. I detest the concept of a woman not knowing she is drop dead gorgeous. Please. Beautiful women know they are beautiful. Overall as far as heroines go, this one wasn't too bad. (It's rare that I like the heroines at all - what can I say, the guys would always have been better off with me :)). Also, she finds out about shifters, and that she is one too, and yet displays not even a hint of amazement. Fear sometimes, wow factor not so much. Don't get that. Her man's gonna teach her how to use her powers, how to shift, but she's not excited, curious, or anything. Just puts it out of her mind and goes shopping.

But I like the world of the Amoveo. The Caedo story was just a bit pat, but the surprise factor, now that was real! That had some meat to it. This is a true mate romance, which I happen to like. I like the whole fate thing and it makes the quick romance developements more believable and dreamy for me. I'm eager to read the next in the series.

Samantha Logan has been living in New York after graduating college, struggling to make it as an artist. After ten years, a psycho ex boyfriend, and very few paintings sold she decides it's time to go home. After moving back into her grandmothers home she meets Malcolm, the hot, shifter neighbor. Malcolm has his work cut out for him. He has to tell Sam that not only is he a shifter, but she is one of them as well.

*********Spoilers***********
Sam's father was part of the wolf clan, and her mother was human. The wolf clan is one of ten clans that make up the Amoveo. Her parents were supposedly killed by their nemesis, the Cadeo family, who believes it's their mission to destroy all shifters. Turns out Malcolm's uncle Brenden, and a few other anonymous shifters don't believe in mixing their bloodline with humans. They killed her parents, and are now after Sam. Brenden enlisted the help of one of the Cadeo, who happens to be Sam's best friend Kerry's cousin AJ, (aka Tony). Of course they made it through, and are married, and mated. The book leaves off with Kerry returning to her modeling career, and Dante (Malcolm's cousin) sent to watch over her.
