Tarot Made Easy

Rate this book
If you've ever been intrigued by the tarot but were confused by the complexities and vague interpretations given in most books— here is a simple and accurate guide to interpreting the tarot!

With Tarot Made Easy you can easily interpret the meaning of any card and apply it to the particular circumstances of your life. With the simple process outlined here, you need only choose one tarot card and then consult one (or several) of the 32 categories listed under each card—including Romance, Travel, Career, Finances, Friends, and Special Guidance—to discover the card's specific message for you.

For example, if you want to know about your romantic future and the Queen of Cups turns up, you may find that the standard description given is "an honest, devoted woman; loving intelligence and happiness." How should you interpret this? But with Tarot Made Easy, the Queen of Cups Romance category tells you that "someone will enter your life in whom you will be very interested...and you will meet this person very close to your home, if not outside your front door." This easy but accurate system banishes the vague interpretations found in most books and gives you the immediate, specific insights you need.

Very comprehensive and thorough. I read another review that described it as almost too thorough, and I agree to a large extent. There's little here to help develop your own intuition or work out what symbols and colours mean to you when reading for yourself or others. It's a good basic starter guide, and I appreciate that about it. My only other gripe is that it's black and white, and I do think colour is important in tarot. Garen uses Rider Waite cards, which are best for beginners. A good reference book.

I dunno.

I never sold this book because it is OK for when your psychic connection to Source is forgotten and you are freaking out and need immediate guidance you perhaps shouldn't follow.

It's good for kicks most of all. Throw it out at a party and people can get fortune cookie answers to their problems.

If you're looking for depth or spirituality or learning about yourself through the magic of Tarot, get Forest of Souls and Tarot for Yourself.

No... Basically disregard actually learning the tarot system and do whatever you want. That's not learning tarot... There are much better options but, actually learning tarot is not a short term easy task. I'd recommend seventy eight degrees of wisdom, or even holistic tarot (massive book, and she's got almost as much work put into study guides available on her website).

An easy to access, and thorough reference guide to tarot. The only criticism I have with this book is that it's is so highly specific I think it makes you lazy -- tarot should first and foremost be read from within, not from a page. But a good place to start for a beginner.

Terrible. This book starts off with “you don’t have to know anything about the Tarot in order to use this book.” The bad news is you still won’t know anything after you’ve finished reading it.

1. The author clearly made no attempt to do any research: “No one is exactly sure how Tarot cards originated, but it’s widely believed that the ancient Egyptian Masons developed them...” This is factually incorrect, you can easily look up the history of its origin.

2. This book is 382 pages long but the meat of the content only takes up 47 pages. What follows is an interpretation of each card (78) with 32 categories. While some of these categories make sense (romance, work/career) others are baffling (mail, others, papers). And since some of the categories are the names of the actual outcome (new beginning, disappointment) the reader could easily pick the outcome they wanted ahead of time. Each interpretation has seemingly nothing to do with the symbols on the card, varies widely across categories, and are the length and depth of fortune cookies. Actual examples:
-“Unresolved personal affairs or business matters will weigh heavily on you.”
-“You will want things to be different and much better than the way they are.”
-“You will think about love and what it would be like to live with someone or get married.”
-“Someone will call and want to see you, and you will meet with him/her”
:| Hey I get it, I’m sure you run out of ideas when you have to come up with 2,496 individual interpretations.

3. Offers scant information on symbolism or on how you might go about interpreting a card for yourself—basically the entire point of using tarot cards. If this book was the only thing you read on the topic you would be entirely reliant on the book for any future reading.

tldr: Read literally any other book on tarot.

I have recently finished reading this book, written by Nancy Garen, about Tarot readings. To be honest, I must admit that I enjoyed more Alejandro Jodorowsky's "The Way of Tarot".

Garen gives a brief explanation on cards and some spreads using the Rider Waite Smith tarot deck. Then, it proceeds to read every card splitting them up into 32 fields ranging from emotional state to finances. It could be useful as a fast guide for readings, but it doesn't detail iconography.

This 383 pages book was published by Simon & Schuster. I assign it 3.5 out of 5 stars.

I bought this book years ago as a companion to my deck, and while over the years I don't necessarily need to be guided as to the meanings this book is really helpful. It gives many everyday life interpretations for each card. You may be asking a love/relationship question and you keep pulling pentacles. She has a quick meaning for each and every card along with every possible situation from health, career, best action to take and many more. I had to just buy a new copy as my old one bought 20 years ago fell to pieces. There is lots of additional info too on different spreads, numerology and corresponding astrological signs. I love this book!

Having read other more in depth books about Tarot and slowly getting experienced with readings I can only reccomend this book as a good starter’s reference guide. The answers are candy bombs, not suitable for in depth readings where intuition and guidance from the Collective is required.
If you ever feel completely lost and with no connection whatsoever it is a good first aid book, with general quidelines to help you with a kickstart in a reading. Otherwise Tarot for Yourself is my next top go to book.

Best when read having already acquired a deck, and most useful when used as a textbook within a class in which the teacher believes as the author does (a quick read of page 11, "How Do Tarot Cards Work?")

The book really made reading tarot easy by showing detailed thematic interpretation of tarot cards meaning. However, I think it will be better to be suggested only for the beginner to start snce it will limit interpretation of the reader if he/she always follow its suggestions.

One of the best Tarot books I have ever read. Easy to use and great for begginers! This book taught me a lot and it's almost scary how accurate the readings are! Definitely worth every penny!

If anyone is looking for a book that will teach them about Tarot, this book is fantastic!! I did not read it cover to cover, but it was so easy to find all of the information that i was looking for. It gave a great understanding on the topics of: tarot basics, tarot symbology, how to do a reading, and an interpretation of the cards. I highly recommend this one!!

A friend gave her copy to me back in high school and I dig it out every time I want to do a tarot reading. Not so often these days, but it's still a book I plan to keep forever. First you decide which spread you want to do, then look up the meaning of each card. About 2 pages are devoted to each card, with meanings broken down into the types of information associated with a card's position like mail, esoteric guidance, blind spots, etc.

When I first started learning to do Tarot, this was the first book I used. That was 15 years ago and it is still the only book I use. I have read dozens of books on tarot interpretations and none come close to this one in terms of detail, poignancy and accuracy. As the title says, "made easy". Well organized, well written, I highly recommend it to the novice and expert Tarot reader alike.

I really like this book, however I would not recommend it as a beginners guide, unless you read it with something else. It's a large quick-reference book at most. Informative and interesting in how it breaks things down, and I enjoy it. But don't buy it to learn tarot, unless you buy it with another book or have some other resources at hand.

It's a great starter book! This was one of the first books I read for tarot and I feel that because it is put in a more easier and simple context, the information was better to obtain. I wanted more insight as a Tarot newbie, but I don't think this book delves deeper than what first described which left me a little confused with my practice readings.

A good book for the beginner tarot reader, however, one will quickly outgrow it's fortune cookie-like prophecies and will want to move on to something more comprehensive such as "Tarot Awareness" by Stephen Sterling.
