I've never picked up a celebrity-penned novel before, but I quite like Tess Daly and apparently she wrote this book herself. Unfortunately, this book hasn't made me want to read any more books written by celebs. It was readable, but just barely. I found the characters one-dimensional and the story so ridiculous as to be unbelievable (a 26 year old fairly successful model hasn't got enough money or a credit card in order to purchase an air ticket home from Tokyo? Please). Not my cup of tea at all.

The book was indeed well-written, it is the first book that I've read from Tess Daly. The transition how everything happened sit on my mind like a movie. The story was great, it told how a public figure life is. The ending was all wrapped up too. I wished Bailey had his karma too (but that made the story closer to real life). Overall, great read. The culprit of who was messing up Britt got me hooked but there are parts that I felt like closing the book.

I got straight in to reading this book and I felt sorry for Britt having to try and make it in to being a model which did not work out as there was sexual things that she was asked to do which was not her so she went in to going abroad to try and make some money which did not work out well as she hardly made any money to send back as she had rent and pay for bills also food while living abroad . Ended up with having to borrow money from her friend who I can’t remember her name. but after a while of being home Alex lost his job even though he thought he was going to get a pay rise where he thought they could buy a placed to live in and even have a baby it did not work out. I felt as time went by in the book that Britt staying with Alex was doing her no good as he was holding her back from changing her life in to getting a job and looking ahead in to the future as Alex become lazy and gave up on looking for a job. After a while Britt got herself a job which was working on Tv interviewing famous people where she made it big time and became famous after a while Alex got really jealous and felt left out but he only had his self to blame as Alex could sort his life out where he could find a really good job and make Britt proud also make himself feel good but he was too lazy to. As time went by they went their separate ways which I think was the right answer where she could be happy and not have to worry about Alex as she had look ahead. I think it was wrong how she slept with a guy called Stewies which was fast which gets me thinking did she really love Alex as if she did you don’t move on that fast. They were not right for each other as they wanted different things where Britt wanted to work hard in her new tv job and Alex was someone who did not care about what Britt wanted and did not support her as he just wanted the life of doing nothing. After a while she met A guy called josh who made her feel special, cared and really loved her even though at one point she was told that he was cheating on her and did not believe it and stew told her. As time went by Britt made a big mistake when it came to interviewing a celebrity called Buck-man where she suggested that he could be gay which was how she lost her job. At the time it was very wrong to do it as she must of felt that she had to ask the question but really it is up to Buck-man to say if he is. Britt had nothing after making that mistake no money, fame or a place to live. which is not a bad thing in my eye as she ended up in a bubble of where she felt that she was special, better than anyone else and did not live in the real world of where people have to work really hard to be able to pay bills, rent, mortgage and even buy food. Josh did not want her anyone as she was no good which shows you he never loved her and was just using Britt big time to make a name for himself and even become famous but now she was nothing he could have none of that so he would let Britt go as she was no good. I am glad she saw his true colours as Britt could do so much better and be happy without him. It was no surprise that Josh sold stories about Britt to the press but she could of done the same but she is better than that as she would not win in the long run but just make it worse. In the end the truth came out of where Britt was set up by cherry in to where she got Britt sacked even though she should never had been sacked and in the end Toby wanted to help Britt get a job on television as it would be his way of saying sorry. She got given a job on prime time television. Alex came back in to her life where He asked Britt to marry her and I wonder what she said yes or no. I would of said no as I believe that once a guy hurts you they will again and again as they will have the power to keep doing it as sometimes there are people out there who can’t say no or walk away. But there are people out there who are strong and will say no and actually walk away. I hope there will be another book in to where we find out what Britt said to Alex and if they lived ever happy after. It has to be one of the best books I have read in a long time.

Unexpectedly wonderful!

I was captivated from the start, and the story races along from one success or disaster to the next. There was enough mystery to keep me guessing as to who was out to get Britt, too. Girly? Yes. Fun? Definitely.

Imagine having it all and being on top of the world , it's a life that most aspiring models dream of , starring in photoshoots alongside Matthew McConaughey. British gal Britt Baxter was offered the opportunity of a lifetime , to star as the cover girl of a new label - one catch though , she has to sleep with the label's boss. Britt, not one to let her morals down and the fact that she has a boyfriend Alex turns it down and soon finds herself in Model exile - Tokyo , Japan. The one place on earth that Models go when they can't get any work at all. Things don't plan out the way Britt hoped and when tragedy strikes at home, she hops on a plane back to the UK. When waitressing at a PR party, Britt is noticed by a TV News Producer of morning show Rise and Shine and Britt has the A-Factor he is looking for , has Britt's dreams finally come true or will she discover that being on camera and famous isn't all it is cracked up to be as she lands herself deep in the world of celebrities , divas and nosy paparazzi's. Can Britt climb her way out or will her dream come true turn into a living nightmare ?
A fun look at the inner life and workings of a TV presenter and what it takes for some stars to make it to the top of their game and when Hollywood comes knocking -how to tell your true friends from your "new friends".

I always get a bit sniffy when TV presenters or actors start writing books because the purist that I am feels that a professional needs to hone their craft before they let loose. I also do not subscribe to the Jack of all Trades trend and Master of None. When I heard that TV presenter, Tess Daly had released a novel I remained pretty unimpressed but I did hear a few good things about it last year when the hardback was released. The paperback version was released last month with a bit of furor. The Camera Never Lies is about Britt Baxter, a former model turned Breakfast TV presenter who leads an enviable lifestyle going to Red Carpet events and mingling with celebrities. This job comes to a huge relief to Britt as she has just hanged up her stilettos as a top model due to the amorous attention from a client who ends up back listing her for future jobs. However with her new glam and high profile job comes a lot of attention and scrutiny from the media which eventually turns very nasty. You don’t have to be a genius to work out that this book is based on Tess Daly’s life. However I am a real sucker for a glamorous story especially one that is full of drama and intrigue, so I am really looking forward to tucking into this. Also it has received a lot of good reviews from bloggers and you know that we are a hard bunch to please.

If you like chicklit books you will like this. I am not sure if Tess Daly actually wrote the book herself or if this was a ghost writer.

I enjoyed the novel but the ending was predictable. I did laugh out loud in some place and I did like the outcome of the twists in the story line. I will look out for future novels from Tess Daly.

The story line is about a struggling model called Britt who is finding work hard to come by and to top it all her boyfriend Alex has just been made redundant instead of getting a promotion.

Whilst Alex sits at home watching the tv and if he not home he is out drinking, Britt decides that they need to find work desperatly so with when her agent promises that she will get loads of work oversea she takes this chance with leaving Alex in the UK. When emergancy family matter happens Britt comes home to the uk.

With still struggling for work Britt takes a job as being a waitress and one lucky night she is spotted by a producer of a breakfast tv show and she is offered a job. Very excited that she will soon be working along side her tv heart throb Josh, a dream that can come true.

Will Britt enjoy the fame and will Alex except her fame. Will Josh notice her and how will she get on with the other presenters especially Cherry.

If you like fashion this book is for you. The story is about a young woman really finding herself. She was a model so pretty but a size 8 (wow they consider that curvy) who aged out the industry and had to find her way into something new. On the way she met some pretty shallow people who used her and sabotaged her but her family and friends and most importantly her love stayed by her. So you get the Walt Disney happily ever after.

The book is approximately 350 pages but it is a very easy read. Enjoy.

I really enjoyed this book. One of the better celebrity authors I've read recently. Britt is struggling to stay in work as an over 30's model. She gets a waitressing job where she is offered a presenting slot on breakfast tv. It follows her success onscreen and the difficulties she faces as a result behind the scenes. I'd definately look out for her second novel.

I have always been a big fan of this Author, I watch Strictly Come
Dancing most Saturday nights, and I was looking forward to her novel.
Tess covered the 2 subjects she is knowledgeable about modelling and
presenting, in this book, I don’t always like Celebrity Novels,
considering it was a Celebrity Novel it was good, and I would recommend

I liked this book and read it in one day as it got interesting when the TV studio stuff began however I couldn't bring myself to feel sorry for Brit in a way I thought she deserved the trouble but at the end of the book I was pleased it worked out for her. Its just a shame she didnt shop Josh to the police alongside Gaz.

I nearly gave up on this as I found it really quite silly to start with, but it got more interesting as it went along. Some quite funny incidents and great behind the scenes stuff from both TV and modelling, both areas that Tess Daly is obviously familiar with.
