K.E. Saxon is a third-generation Texan and has been a lover of romance fiction since her first (sneaked) read of her older sister's copy of "The Flame and the Flower" by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss. She is a member of the West Houston Chapter of Romance Writer's of America and is a devoted subscriber to the Romance Divas online forum. She has two cats, a 24-year-old cockatiel, a funny, supportive husband, and a garden that's been fried by the recent drought. When she isn't in her writer's cave writing, you can find her puttering in her organic vegetable garden or in her kitchen trying out a new recipe. An animal (and bug) lover since before she could speak, she made pets of all kinds of critters when she was a kid growing up. Her mother even swears that she made a pet of a cockroach one time (but K.E. doesn't believe her). She likes to write funny, sexy romances.

I REALLY Enjoyed this book from the first to last page. The story line kept me interested and not wanting to put the book down. All the characters in this book were extremely well done. The love/sex scenes were very HOT and sensual. I could read books like this and never get tired of them. I'm so glad that I found K.E Saxon's books. I plan to read them all :-)

Book Synopsis

What's a guy to do when he meets the woman of his dreams, but she turns out to be the sister of his most despised enemy?

Fall in love, of course!
* * *
This is the story of Jason Jörgensen, an excitement-loving bad boy and Julie Del Mar, the quiet, romantic dreamer who breaches his devil-may-care façade and helps heal the frightened boy inside.

Conceived during a violent rape, Jason knows deep down that he’s no good. So, as far as he’s concerned, his plan never to have children is not only sound, but also the right thing to do.

Julie, orphaned at twelve, has now lost her surrogate parent—her older sister—to suicide. Returning to the only real home she ever had and someday making her own family is her most profound wish.

A drugged-drink Vegas wedding brings them together, but a pregnancy test tears them apart.

My Thoughts

Have you ever seriously felt total anguish when reading about a character's past? Have you ever wished you could reach into the pages of a book to soothe that pain and help make it better? Oh boy did that happen with this one. Jason is carrying around the weight of the world on his love-em and leave-em shoulders all due to one secret from his past that turned his world upside down and almost tore it to pieces 5 years ago.

Julie is the sister of the woman who was the catalyst for Jason's current state of mind. She is also probably the only woman in the world who has a hope in Hell of making him see exactly what he wants even when he will not admit it to himself.

This one was a mixture of fun reading, heavy emotional scenes that will make the reader cringe in horror at some of what is brought to life and at the same time wish for a happy ending for all the parties involved.

The author took a chance and wrote a romance that will make you laugh, make you cringe, make you sweat, make you stay seated turning the pages as the characters lives unfold before you and in the end have you crying with relief and joy just like I did because when all is said and done! For a born romantic like myself this was the perfect way to spend a chilly day indoors kept warm by the bedroom scenes and kept entertained by the interaction between Jason, Gabe, Julie and Luke. The kitten Pookie even added a few lighter moments in what was at times a fairly intense read.

3.5 STARS

Jason Jörgensen has suffered enough in his life. Being acussed of drugging and raping a Hollywood starlet, suffering through a car accident and his father heart attack (simultaneously), finding out that he is really the offspring of his mother's rapist (a rape his mother never had the courage to face). I think that anyone would be bitter after this. But Jason is a pretty normal guy for all this baggage. Yeah he isn't into relationships, he abhor's the idea of having children and he is the kind of guy who flees instead of dealing with a situation. You can't help but root for him...

Julie Del Mar lost her parents in a tragic airplane accident. He also lost her only home and she ran away with her older sister because the child services were planning on separating them. Then, she had to stick with her when she accused an innocent guy of raping her (you guessed it, Jason) for some media time and then she lived through her sister's drug problems and suicide. She is innocent, sweet and caring. You also can't help but root for her...

So we have two people who have suffered enough and have a "past", becoming partners when they both want the same land to open they dream bussiness (for Jason, more like his Dad's dream). Throw in a lot of meddling (Gabe, Jason Dad's is hilarious, adorable and the best parent you could wish for) a lot of chemistry and a little too much to drink and..... BANG!!!

I liked this book but I was annoyed by Jason constant urge to avoid confrontation. I think that he was bullheaded and the book dragged problems that could be resolved within pages. Moreover, I wanted some further "booktime" on Connie's explanation of why accusing Jason and maybe a glimpse on her suicide note.

So it was a funny and sexy read, presenting some serious issues (rape, drugs, confronting your inner demons, redeeming yourself). I like the way K.E.Saxon writes but I still prefer her Highlander books..

THE HEROINE IN THIS BOOK IS JULIE SHE IS AN INNOCENT, VIRGIN, KIND 22 YEAR OLD GIRL WHO JUST LOST HER SISTER AND HAS NO OTHER FAMILY

ON THE OTHER HAND WE HAVE 30 yr old JASON Jörgensen, SEXY CONFIDENT AND A PLAYER,,, THE ULTIMATE BAD BOY.

There is so much to this story but I DO NOT WANT TO SPOIL IT! It was a page turner!

Jason sees Julie as a little girl at first but there is no doubt he starts to fall hard for her! and gosh this book is so funny Omg Gabe is hilarious and so is Jason!

This story just suprised me in so many good ways!!!

I can not begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this book. It has everything: romance, mystery, erotica, humor. I didn't want to put it down. Half the book my eyes were wide from shock and the rest I was laughing or saying 'awwwww.' It was a emotional rollercoaster and the characters really stick to you. I can't wait to read this story again and read more books from K.E. Saxon.

Reads like a movie.

I have trouble with the resolution because H's tragic background and most recent trauma seemed pushed away or minimized by h.
