Judy Russell Christenberry was born in Dallas, Texas, USA, where she raised in a family of four children with a stay-at-home mom who was a terrific cook and an excellent teacher, where family tradition was concerned. As a child, Judy was surrounded by animals. Her father raised a few head of cattle to keep meat on the table. At one time or another, there were sheep, Thanksgiving turkeys, ducks and dogs, and there were always chickens.

Judy learned the importance of family at an early age. But, Judith's marriage ended in divorce. Yet, with support from her mother and siblings, she and her two daughters discovered their own definition of family. The family comes in all shapes and flavors. What's important isn't the two parents and the 2.5 children, it's love and support. She raised her children, taught during the day, wrote at night, and pursued her dream.

Judy, hasn't always been a writer, but she's always been a dreamer. As a child, for entertainment while doing chores, she told herself stories-she was always the heroine. However, she didn't start writing until she turned thirty-eight, just one year after her father's unexpected death. After this, she realized life promised no guarantees about how much time you have. Why wait to pursue your dreams? She had begun reading Harlequin Romance novels about ten years earlier, so romance writing came naturally. She signs her novels as Judy Christenberry, Judith Christenberry and Judith Stafford.

Over time, Judy realized two central themes dominating her writing: family and small town/country life. Many of her books have cowboy heroes, partly because she read all Zane Grey's romantic versions of the Old West as a teenager, and partly because her parents grew up on farms. The last element that frequently appears in Judy's stories is a dash of humor, just enough to bring a smile to your face. She believes laughter is good medicine and it definitely makes a six-foot hunk even more attractive!

Now, with her daughters pursuing their own dreams, Judy writes full-time and is wrapped up in her storytelling. She lives each new adventure with the vigor of a young girl, still dreaming up tales while washing dishes. She hopes to entertain her readers as much as she entertains herself!

Cute story but too many unrealistic situations and responses.

1. Caroline, a Chicago doctor, believes she can't have children because years ago she was in a car wreck and "scar tissue built up" (yeah, I have no idea where this logic comes from or where this allegedtissue is built up) making it "nearly impossible" for her to conceive. As a result she's avoided coming home to visit her family for four years because she knows they'll wish to see her married and momming and she can't deal with it. The family is continuously portrayed as one big loving bunch so why would she take all these years to show her face and think that it truly would hurt her relationship with them?

2. HIPAA and ethics violations aplenty made it difficult to keep my interest. Ex: the doctor taking her mom with her to see a patient, telling her mom who the patient is and why they were admitted, forcing the patient to take sleeping meds after they tried to refuse more than once. The doctor followed along with the police while they arrest someone on domestic abuse accusations and then she took the children from that home to her residence for a few days with no mention of social services or or court allowing it. At one point a pregnant lady (who just discovered she was pregnant) tells the doctor her husband beats her every week. The doctor's response to this is: "I don't see any bruises on you" and "have you tried to get him help. Then she proceeded to examine the woman and send her back home to the abusive hubby without a single mention of trying to get her help or resources.

I could go on and on with more "wtf" moments but I'll stop here.

Pretty good overall. A nice light-easy read. Nothing real raunchy. Very hallmark movie-ish. I wish there was a stronger plot, but it was a nice story.

This is the first Judy Christenberry book that I have read. It was in paperback and given to me by my oldest grand daughter. I found out that it was the 12th book in a series of books by the author, but read it anyway. It was a very good book even though I wasn't sure the details of some of the characters in the book because they had their own books. I did not let that influence my review of this book. I started reading the book and wasn't sure I would like it because I am a paranormal and science fiction and thrillers where there is explicit sex and hard violence. But this book was a a change for me and I actually couldn't put it down when I started reading it. Loved the characters and how there was a strong family front and how the family and their friends and employees helped the whole town as needed. I also liked how the book made me really feel Caroline and her dilemma about children, and how I was conscientiously egging Mike own to court Caroline and to get rid of her past. It takes a good author to get the reader to have emotions with the characters in the book. A book I would recommend for anyone to read.

Dr. Caroline Randall returns home to Rawhide, Wyoming after several years of living and working in Chicago, IL. When she has her first encounter with the towns new Sheriff Mike Davis, realizes that her coming home was a mistake. Thinking Caroline is an intrude in Jake Randall's house he arrests and cuffs her, but he challenges her attitude toward him. She has been dumped by her fiancee and she brings her past with her, even though she is hiding it really well.

Mike Davis is the new Sheriff of Rawhide, Wyoming, and he inherited the job from his uncle and had only been on the job for two weeks. He has been entrusted to make sure that the new doctor is welcomed to Rawhide and made comfortable in the house that Jake Randall and his wife fixed up for the doctor. Walking by the house Mike notices there is an intruder in the house. When she won't give him any credentials he cuffs her and arrests her. He has no intention of letting her snarky attitude bother him, until he is informed that she is the new doctor and Jake Randall's daughter. Now he had to deal with the Randall's and their famous matchmaking, because Caroline is single and they want her married to a good man. Caroline on the other hand has other ideas and she has to convince Mike and her family that she has no intentions to marry and she isn't looking.

Will Jake Randall's matchmaking work? Or will Caroline be alone for the rest of her life? Read the book and trust me you will enjoy it.

Good book. Caroline finally came home, and immediately crosses Sheriff Mike Davis. They are striking sparks off each other, but Caroline has decided not to marry anyone. Mike won't let her hide away, and is gently relentless in getting closer to her. Mike has some issues with being with someone he feels is far above him, but he loves her. I liked seeing the way their jobs intersected, but they were independent also. I also loved seeing the various Randalls and how they worked their matchmaking efforts.

Another great Randall story

I love reading family-based series. The Randalls family started with 4 brothers, along came wives and children and grandchildren at a rapid pace. Getting to know their stories makes them seem real. Hard times and God times keep the family strong.
