MAKE TRACKS: FARM is a cute, interactive board book that young children can explore. Each page spread features one of four farm-related vehicles: tractor, combine harvester, cattle truck, and ATV. The left side introduces children to the key parts, while the right side has a path on which they can drive the paper vehicle. Questions in bubbles aid in learning.

What I loved: This is such a fun and interactive concept that brings different vehicles to life for the reader. Little ones who prefer hands-on learning and play will get a kick out of moving the vehicles around and attempting different tasks, such as driving the cattle truck to market. Vehicle lovers will definitely enjoy exploring each page and learning more about these farm-related trucks.

The font is clear and the bubbles in white make it easy to read the questions and information to little ones. These also present learning opportunities as children are asked to count and think slightly critically about the different parts of the vehicles.

What left me wanting more: As a small thing, the places on the right side of each page spread are not labeled, so it can be tough to identify which is intended to be what (though parents can make a best guess).

Final verdict: Interactive and educational, MAKE TRACKS: FARM is a cute board book that vehicle-loving toddlers and preschoolers will really enjoy!

As anyone raised in a rural area knows, farms are fun. But it isn't just the animals or produce that make it so. Today's farms are modern, relying on various machines and vehicles to help farmers get work done. This thick, sturdy board book [2.5] features five different vehicles, including a tractor and a combine harvester and cut-out paths along which to maneuver small round replicas of those vehicles. Plus, there are diagrams of the vehicles with labels identifying each part. In a world of vegans and vegetarians, though, it might have been nice to have been more expansive in the choices and not highlight a cattle truck. Still, this is a starting point for learning about machines or vehicles on farms.

Very sturdy board book part of a series about vehicles which have cut out tracks where a child can manipulate a round disc as if they are driving a vehicle. This title focuses on the farm with four machines illustrated with their parts and a facing page to”drive” each one. I especially liked the combine harvester and on the opposite page maneuvering it through the corn field. Maybe they have one about boats.
