Lulu Bell #1

Lulu Bell and the Birthday Unicorn

Rate this book
Meet Lulu Bell. Where there's Lulu, there's family, friends, animals and adventures galore!

It's almost time for Lulu's little sister's birthday party. But there's a problem! A pony is running loose and Lulu and her dad, the local vet, have to rescue it.

Can they find the pony? And what will happen if the naughty pony gets into more mischief at the party? It's lucky that Lulu has a plan!

About the Lulu Bell series

Lulu Bell is a fun-loving, sometimes bossy eight-year-old girl with long honey-coloured hair. She is the practical one in the family – which is fortunate because the rest of the family is slightly zany.

She has a sister called Rosie, who is six and loves wearing angel wings and sparkly shoes, and a three-year-old brother called Gus, who likes to wear his superhero suit, even in the bath.

Lulu's dad, Dr Bell, is a busy vet, while her mum is an artist. The Bell family have lots of pets, including two dogs called Asha and Jessie, two ginger cats called Pickles and Pepper, some ducklings, and a rabbit. Their home in Manly is right behind the vet hospital, so Lulu helps her dad care for injured and orphaned animals including a baby possum and, in book one, a naughty runaway pony.

I liked the part when the pony ate the cake because Gus took the pony inside the kitchen to eat the cake. That was the funny part. The part that I didn't enjoy was when the pony had to go back to his owner because his owner was found. That made me feel sad.

I like this book because Lulu's house is also a part of the vet hospital. And her dad is the vet. Lulu Bell gets to go on adventures.

Fast paced and fun. Belinda’s story has all the ingredients for a great birthday party. I’m looking forward to sharing this story with my grandchildren.

Yet another sweet new series for beginning chapter book readers, girls in particular. Lulu Bell loves being surrounded by family, friends and animals. Unfortunately a lost horse causes a bit of destruction right before Lulu's little sister's birthday party. Luckily Lulu is big on creativity and helps her mom make everything better. This is an Australian import so there might be a few terms that are unfamiliar to readers, but they are quite easy to figure out and it doesn't make the story any less adorable.
