When Armando is targeted in a drive-by, that narrowly misses Hannah, he decides the best thing he can do for her is keep his distance.

After the fiery start of their relationship, it was hard to see Mando and his Flower put up walls around their hearts.

I enjoyed their story, the fast-pace, and non-stop action. Both characters had endeared themselves to me and I was invested in their HEA, especially seeing Hannah’s dreams come true. The only bummer for me is that I was hoping to see more ire from Mando after finding out who ordered the hit. All in all, a satisfying conclusion to their story.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: captive
Angst: 😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Fantastic conclusion to the duet! I typically have a really difficult time with duets. The first book will be super strong and then the second book usually fizzles out for me, feeling chockfull of extraneous scenes that I don't feel are necessary, or just extra smex to make sure there's a second book's worth of words. I totally didn't feel that way about this story, albeit it sure is FULL of some fracking hot smexy, lol. I absolutely loved the first book and while this one probably fell a smidge short, it was close enough to deserve the 5 stars for me. I absolutely LOVE Armando and Hannah. Especially together. His neediness with her to give him all her feels and how it made him whole again was super sweet. Love it when the hero falls in love in spite of himself and extra points for the "I don't like anyone touching me... but you can", lol. Hannah really was just a great heroine to read. Super empathetic and wore her heart on her sleeve ❤️ .

I have read and enjoyed books by both of these authors, but honestly, I think I like their co-written books the best. I sincerely hope we'll see more of the two of them writing together!

Rooted In Sin is the second book in the Chicago Sin series by Alta Hensley and Renee Rose and must be read after Den of Sin which ended on a cliffhanger. It is told in first person, from dual perspective.

Rooted In Sin is book 2 of Armando and Hannah's story. We were left with that spectacular ending in Den Of Sins and this couple is still struggling with their "relationship". Poor Hannah is an empath and takes on the emotions of those around her, and she is desperately trying to just go with the flow with Mando, letting him find his footing, but he remains closed off, emotionless. Their passionate times are so lustful and fulfilling, but could they be more? Who is trying to hurt Armando?
The flow of this story, as well as the plot, was mind-blowing and astounding. And this couples desire and hunger for each other melted my kindle 🔥🔥
Alta and Renee write such wonderful stories individually but as a team they are extraordinary!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 breathtaking stars!

The accidental pregnancy-trope that brings characters back together, is something I very much dislike. However, the authors have written it in such an amazing way, that I do like it. It's still something I don't like and probably never will, but I could appreciate it in this story.
The second book of the Chicago Sin-series, started exactly where book one stopped. Marco taking a bullet for Hannah, that was meant for Armando.
The flow of the story and the plot, was astonishing. I had absolutely no clue who ordered the target on Armando's head.
The way Armando changed throughout the story is adorable. I love the whole "I want to be a better man for Hannah"-idea.
I liked it more than the first book of the series. It has definitely more actions, more feelings and more love.

Rooted in Sin picks up right where Den of Sins left off with Hannah in hot water, but luckily Leo's butt saves the day.

While Armando is struggling to cope with the darkness from his past, he also has to deal with a hit out on him, since the dangers that follow him are also a threat to Hannah's life.
And amidst the flying bullets, the pair has copious amount of hot, kinky sex.

Told in dual POV alternating between Armando & Hannah, the conclusion to their story is full of action, unexpected twists, it is suspenseful, some violence, unimageable betrayal, but enormous love.

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

Rooted in Sin gave me what i needed after that cliffhanger Den of Sins left me with.
Yes,Hannah and Armando grow closer, but he still doesn’t understand his feelings for her….not really.
He knows he needs her,he knows he feels so good when he’s with her,and counts the minutes to return to her when he’s away.
But to call that love, like she obviously can?
Plus he has a hit on him…..someone wants him dead, but who?
One thing’s for sure,he’s not going to allow her to get hurt,or worse….killed because of him!
But Hannah is determined to stay,to stand by his side, for better or worse.
And she told her parents about him…..
Her mother may have an open mind, but her father??
When Armando sees his ex at a party,he realizes he doesn’t feel anything, not even anger.
Her new fiancé may have stolen her,and he has every right to be angry at them, but he couldn’t care less.
All he can see is the beauty that is his girl, all he needs is her.
Does that mean he’s ready to commit to his Flower?
Or is he going to get killed before he’s ready to admit his feelings?

This story didn’t have a dull moment.
If it wasn’t the heat between Hannah and Armando,it was them trying to get to know eachother better.
And while she worked hard to make her shop a succes,he was doing what the Don told him, keep out of trouble, while trying to find out who wanted him dead.
The answer to that wasn’t a real surprise, though….but the retribution was well done.
All in all a good story, one i enjoyed from start to finish.

Rooted in Sin is the continuation of Armando and Hannah’s story. It begins where Den of Sins left off when Mando is targeted in a drive-by and Hannah was almost hit. I really enjoyed the flow and the plot of this story. The suspense, emotions, struggles, and the spice left me devouring this book.

Hannah is an empath and feels all emotions of everyone around her. Mando is emotionless or so he thinks. He feels as if he needs Hannah so he can feel again. Just being around her brings color back into his black and white life. But at the same time having her in his dangerous life is difficult to protect her. This is where their relationship struggles because it’s causing them both to build walls around their hearts. When it comes to their lust filled passionate times it’s A+ hotness. The sexual chemistry is beyond but is that enough? Do they have more? Can he protect her from the danger in his life? And who’s trying to kill Armando?

“ Fuck, maybe I did know even then. Because after that kiss, I never wanted to let you go. I wanted to tie you to a bedpost and keep you for-fucking-ever.”

Alta and Renee you ladies did a phenomenal job. Bravo ladies 🤌🏼🫶🏼

I absolutely fell in love with this book and the first book in the series, Den of Sins. If you love a great mafia romance that will draw you in and have you yelling and on the edge of your seat, well look no further. Armando and Hannah may be from two different worlds, but when their worlds collide and they are forced to be around each other, they end up having feelings for each other. Now, Armando must stay safe and protect Hannah at all costs. However, we all know that it's never as easy as you would think. There are twists and turns, nothing major, but enough to keep the reader invested and reading on for the answers that we all want. The way that Armando was so tender with her, but F#$#ed her like a porn star, holy shit, excuse me while I go take a cold shower. This book is action packed, spicy and one hell of a read. Grab your copy today. Also, this cannot be read as a standalone, so make sure you check out Den of Sins first.

This book was so good!

Hannah was in the crossfire when Armando’s cousin got shot. Armando was realizing that this hit on him was escalating.

Armando knows he need to leave Hannah to keep her safe but he can’t leave her because of how she makes him feel, and he is starting to really feel again after prison.

Hannah is getting more confident in asking for the things she wants/needs from other people, especially with her business. She also just wants Armando to her boyfriend and more, but he can’t give that to her because he thinks he can’t.

Man I truly loved this book❤️

This is book two of this intoxicating and irresistible duet, so be sure to read book one, Den of Sins first. OMG, after that cliffy I have been eagerly awaiting this book and it was really just EVERYTHING! To start, Armando and Hannah are pure fire together, but they can also be super sweet. Emotions really take center stage here but there is still plenty of drama, suspense, action and twists going on to keep you feverishly turning those pages from the edge of your seat. Their story will make your pulse race, their heat is going to leave you in need of a cold shower and the epic swoon is going to make your heart into a mushy puddle. I am independently posting an impartial review.

We are picking up right where we left off in “Den of Sin.” Marco took a bullet for Armando and saved Hannah’s life. But this isn’t the life Armando wants Hannah tangled up in. He wants to let her go but he is so drawn to her, he can’t. Hannah is not a wilting flower and she is standing by her man. Regardless of the danger, she knows he has her heart. I love these two. With the amount of danger Armand is in and the constant hits out, he tries to shield Hannah. This story is all passion and love. It is a feel good from beginning to end. Was I surprised with the twist? A bit. I had a feeling but I let it ride through. I’m glad that La Familia is stronger than ever.

Good read. It picks up where the first book left off. Armando and Hannah are something else. They have chemistry that leaps off the page. Armando is one heck of a dirty talker and man he is a sex god! Hannah hangs with him and she gets as insatiable as he is.

I did figure out who was going after him before it was revealed . So to me that was kind of anticlimactic to me. There isn’t much drama except for the miscommunication between the two. I love that Armando suffered emotionally just as much as Hannah. Hannah kind of made me mad when she did not get what she wanted as a response from him. So I had more feels for him.

Good read has all the feels needed to make you read till the end

Absolutely fantastic! This is the 2nd book in Armando and Hannah's story and it couldn't have ended better. I absolutely love them. The first book grabbed me and this book set me free. I love these characters so much! Their story is intense and steamy. My stomach was in knots the whole time. I was so sad to see them go but this book is so worth it.

Armando is trying to find out who is targeting him and after Hannah's near-death experience, he starts thinking that he needs to separate himself from her, especially since he has nothing good to offer her.

Armando and Hannah's relationship started in book one Den of Sins. She's an empath and he's an ex-felon and part of the Italian mafia. When Hannah realizes that there is no label to what they have going on between them she gets extremely disheartened.

Oh my gosh, I enjoyed this book immensely. The suspense, emotions and hot damn the SPICE. Hannah embraced her naughty side in this book.

I was totally invested in this couple and their HEA. I only wish that it was a bit darker with more graphic depictions.

Hannah has the tenacity and staying power to sustain the mafia life, or so it seems. Mando is ever protective and tries to sever ties without success on either one's part. I liked the way they were like polarized magnets and just headed toward each other despite the danger aspect. The waterfall scene was magical the way the author described it. The twist at the end and the drama- omg!!! Spectacular!!

This is the second part of Armando and Hannah's love story duet. Rooted in Sin didnt grip me quite the way the first book did. But by this point I am invested in empath Hannah, her flower shop and her growing love for Armando. Armando is still emotionally void and distracted by the contract out on his life. He won't commit to a relationship while he is placing a target on Hannah's head, yet he wont give her up. Armando is brutal and possessive and incredibly passionate. But has no self worth or confidence in what he can offer her. So the book is underpinned by his 'for now' attitude and his clear love for her but with one foot out the door.

This book is an emotional rollercoaster with some curve balls thrown in to twist the story as you go. I so desperately wanted these two to work it out. And actually there is genuine love and healing happening between the frequent passion and heat. Armando very much uses his body to communicate his love, his fears and his utter possession of Hannah. This book is pretty heated with a fair few kinks explored. These two are very much on the same page with dirty talking and a Daddy/Sub vibe.

Rest assured the ending is worth the emotional investment. I loved where the story went for them. And the sense of healing, acceptance and emotional openness was gratifying for a man who felt nothing and a woman who felt everything. An emotional and satisfying mafia based love story.

What an absolutely thrilling read!

I loved the conclusion to Hannah and Armando's story. This book gave the answers and made my heart smile. Hannah and Armando were meant to be. They have palpable heat.

Hannah feels so much, being an empath. And Armando needed to learn how to feel again. Their characters grew together. And I loved loved it.

The writing was great and kept me hooked. Highly recommend this duet. It has the steam, secrets, suspense, action and characters that are so passionate.

“Cry for me, Flowers…Maybe I’ll wake up and be your prince.” If I hadn’t already been head over heels in love with Mando this moment would have been it. Despite being a mafia made man there was something so old fashioned and noble about him. In some ways, the mafia world portrayed in these books is the same. Yes, there’s violence and killings. The sex scenes are explicit and scorching hot. This is not a PG or even R rated world. But they have certain codes and beliefs that are different from so many of the overly violent, harsh mafia books out there. They don’t believe in hurting women or the innocent. They look out for each other and those they have sworn to protect. They show respect. To them, family is everything and not in a bad way. It says a lot about them that once a week they get together for an old fashioned straight razor shave at the local barber and then pick up flowers for their wives and/or girlfriends on their way home.

Once I found out if Hannah lived or died, my excitement ended there. This was a continuation of miscommunication and unhealthy attachment. She dumped him because she thought he’d not want the baby but could have just had a conversation with him. It was unnecessary drama. Then, the person responsible for hunting Armando down is his ex girlfriends new fiance. Stahhhp. Everyone in this book needs a little therapy and a psych evaluation.

This is the kind of book that wraps you up in its world and leaves you with a contented sigh. First things first, let's talk about Armando and Hannah's characters. They're so wonderfully flawed and relatable that I couldn't help but get emotionally invested in their journey. I found myself rooting for them, cheering them on, and occasionally yelling at them when they made questionable decisions. It's like they became my friends, and their struggles felt personal.

And the chemistry? Oh boy, it was off the charts! Alta and Renee know how to write a scorching connection that leaves you fanning yourself. The sparks between the main characters practically leapt off the pages, making my heart race with anticipation. It's the kind of romance that's equal parts sweet and steamy—a perfect blend that kept me thoroughly entertained.

But it isn't just about passion and swoon-worthy moments. It delves into deeper themes of self-discovery and redemption. Armando and Hannah have their own demons to face, and witnessing their growth was nothing short of inspiring. It reminded me that we all have our own journey of self-acceptance, and sometimes, it takes finding that special someone to help us heal.

Now, let's talk about the setting—the Louisiana bayou. I was instantly transported to this enchanting world of marshlands and mystery. The authors' descriptions were so vivid that I could practically hear the sounds of nature and feel the humidity in the air. It added an extra layer of magic to the story, making it even more immersive and captivating.

What I loved most about Rooted In Sin is that it didn't take itself too seriously. Yes, it had its intense moments and deep emotions, but it also had a laidback vibe that made it easy to sink into. It didn't demand all my attention or make me overthink every little detail. Instead, it allowed me to relax and enjoy the ride—a perfect escape from the busyness of everyday life.

Hannah, the female lead, knows she’s a highly emotional empath and she’s been shocked by how well Armando, the male lead (a mafia man recently released from prison), has coped with her outbursts. Armando is similarly shocked by how well Hannah has been dealing with the stresses of his situation.

Now, with his cousin injured after being mistaken for him, Armando reconsiders whether he should be disappearing from Hannah’s life for her safety. But the only time he feels anything other than numb is when he’s with Hannah.

Armando is trying to work out who wants him dead. Hannah is trying to succeed as a businesswoman and at life. Whilst their physical relationship is kinky and ongoing, they’re struggling to make anything else gel. Then one more burden drops on Hannah and she doesn’t think she can cope with Armando in her life any more…

This story is dual POV, well written, and the second half of a contemporary mafia romance duet, so it absolutely does not stand alone. I enjoyed and empathised with Hannah’s genuine and extreme emotions. I appreciated that she considered Armando and what she believed he could cope with before she attempted to end the relationship, balancing both their needs and apparent wants. I enjoyed Armando’s perseverance and his consideration of Hannah’s needs and his care for what she wanted, even when he presented as a dictator. I enjoyed their intimate erotic scenes, even if some of the kink isn’t quite to my taste, and how these supported the building of their relationship. I enjoyed the integrated secondary characters and the HFN resolution.

Not missing a beat, Rooted in Sin picks up right where Den of Sins left us on the edge of our seats! After nearly losing Hannah in a drive-by shooting intended for Armando, he ultimately decides that perhaps he should distance himself from her, while Hannah wants nothing more than to become closer to him. The second installment of the Chicago Sin series further explores more of the rocky, toxically arduous relationship between our 2 main characters in a continued dual POV while giving us more insight into who has been targeting Armando. It’s a fast-paced, action-filled, steamy drama that will leave you feeling like you can’t put the book down!

After finishing the ARC for Den of Sins, I could not wait for ARCs of Rooted in Sin to drop! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this series, with all of its twists and turns and intensely spicy scenes that left me needing a cold shower. One of the only reasons I dropped my rating was because I have never been a fan of the unexpected pregnancy trope (it’s usually an automatic DNF for me) and was a little surprised that it was included in this story; however, the authors added it so seamlessly that I still wanted to finish reading the book and find out how their story ultimately ends. I also was a little shocked by Armando’s reaction to finding out who called the hit on him, but it seemed fitting with how much his emotional state evolves throughout the story. A big thank you to the authors for allowing me to be an ARC reader for this series! It was an exhilarating read and was a great introduction to the Mafia Romance genre for me!

This book started straight from where the last one ended but we got to see it from Hannah's side of the conversation.

Armando is just crazy Alpha. He is literally obsessed with Hannah but because he doesn't have a soul anymore he doesn't think she deserves him but better.

Hannah has always loved him, even with all this violence surrounding him. She is an Empath so she feels everyones emotions. She cries a lot because of it, but instead of him belittling her he accepts her tears and encourages her to continue to feel. That just shows he does have a heart, he just doesn't know it.

Someone is still out to get him. Constantly looking over the shoulder. His anxiety and tension over this causes to lose the best thing in his life.

There is a big twist to the story.

This book is a smut Lovers dream book. It is filled to the brim with dark and rough smut 🥵☺️.
But still managed to have a plot line, connection with characters, feels, drama, action, suspense deception, secrets and a perfect HEA.
I also loved his cousin Marco and Leo. I hope I get to see more of them maybe in the future.
Favourite Quote:
"Then I’m going to f&£k you good. And after I’m gonna treat you like a princess. Capiche?”
Who doesn't want this!!! 🥵

“You brought me back from the dead. You gave me a reason to live. I owe you everything. I want you to know, I will never let you down again.”
Was great to see his character grow emotionally.

This is book 2 in the Chicago Sin series. The books need to be read in order. This book picks up immediately after the cliffhanger of book 1. The books are about Armando and Hannah. Armando just got out of prison and is in the mafia. Armando pretty much lost his ability to feel any emotions while in prison. Armando met Hannah in the first book, probably not in the best way. Hannah owns a flower shop that is frequented by the mafia. In this book, Armando still has a hit out on him. Armando is struggling with the fact he knows he's not feeling emotionally what he should. That's not really fair to Hannah, plus he's putting her in danger because of the hit. For everything Armando doesn't feel, Hannah probably feels it three times as much. Hannah is emotional 😭! You know they're going to have to go through some rough times to get their happy ending, and they do. The happy ending is coming though. I liked the very last line in the book. Honestly, Armando had emotions. You could see it in his actions. If Armando didn't care about Hannah he wouldn't have done so much for her. I think it just took Armando a long time to realize how he felt.
Armando's actions were just subtle because of who he was. This book had very spicy bedroom scenes 🔥! Good conclusion to Hannah and Armando's story.

I seriously did not see how Mando was going to eradicate his problem so he and Hannah could be together. Just goes to show you what I knew.

Hannah and Mando so desperately tried to hold part of themselves away from the other person. As much as it seemed like self preservation for Hannah, it seemed like it was the same for Mando along with a strong sense of protecting Hannah from the dangers of his lifestyle.

I thought it was interesting that Hannah was not bothered by who he was for any reason other than she didn't want to see Mando get hurt. She was scared, but the fear she had for herself seemed to be emotional. It felt like I was missing something. I didn't feel like she had any major concern for her physical being.

I thought when it came down to who was after Armando, why they were after him, and the resolution to the situation, it was a little anticlimactic for me.

This book was a fact paced read that had romantic moments as well as moments with intense levels of heat. A couple of twists and surprises made an appearance. There was action, danger, suspense, and a dash of angst. An interesting conclusion to the cliffhanger from book one. I would go with 3.5 - 4 stars.
