Demon Lord #2

Green Flame Assassin

Rate this book
Because sometimes you have to fight fire with hellfire, there’s Caine Deathwalker: raised as a demon, armed like a gun merchant, and fuelled by booze. Nice is a dirty word and killing is what he does best. Make a contract with hell, and he could be on your side, God help you.

Caine’s hired to recover a stolen fey artifact. With his combat butler, a werekitty entourage, and a hot, Vampire Slayer at his side, he invades Sacramento where a shadow war is raging for dominion of the City. Caine needs the stone of dreams to stop a master vampire’s behind-the-scenes maneuvering. Complicating his business, a green flame assassin—who is both woman and monster bear—just wants him dead. Ultimate Survival for the city hinges on a wereliger who doesn’t want to get involved. Well, Caine isn’t taking no for an answer.

This book is intended for mature audiences.

Born in Brazil on Lagoa (Witches Island), he came to the United States in his early teens. As a writer, he focuses on the paranormal and occult, adding a weird spin all his own to the Urban Dark Fantasy genre.

I just really enjoy writing and the urban dark fantasy genre lets me come up with some great stories.

Guns? check. Fighting? check. Murder and mayhem? check. Demons and werewolves and werecats and wereligers? check. Slayers? check. Half dragon, wise-cracking, womanizing anti-hero? check check check! Fun, intriguing, and I'm off to read the next book in the series!

Caine Deathwalker is back bedding babes and bagging bad guys! Yes, he's still a sexist demon raised bastard, but the comments aren't as bad as the first book and the women in his life are powerful enough to keep up, throw down, and walk away. The story is of an interestingly convoluted paranormal power struggle in Sacramento. There is plenty of action as Caine goes for shotgun diplomacy. This is a fun boozy series.

Still tough going...

This series really is difficult to deal with.

On the one hand, the base story is well worth four stars, but the editing makes reading tough going.

Book 2 is still littered with bad spelling and grammar, random punctuation marks, words and possibly whole sentences missing. I found myself having to re-read paragraphs to make sure I’d corrected the issues in the right manner. And the extreme misogyny still runs throughout.

Time to leave this series behind for now...

Good but...

A fun tale with a 'hero' bearing a resemblance to a certain Mr Deadpool. Plenty of action, jokes and a complete irreverence for all sexes and species... although perhaps not for the fainthearted or those lacking a sense of humour. But, please, please Mr Author either get a new publisher, editor or proofreader, the typos, formatting, missing words and lack of care are really annoying and detract from a great story.

Grammar

The story line was good but it was FULL of grammatical errors.
Maybe someone should have proofread it before pub!ishing

Good second entry into the Demon Lord series, Caine is still one BAMF as usual. Him and his harem go off to Sacramento to bring peace to the chaos that the city has become and to find a magical item.

We also get some more story into Caine and...his ancestry if you will. I mean you can kind of guess what it is from the previous novel but it's nice to have it confirmed.

Love how

I will add this to my list of reads as I'd pick up the 3rd day one.

Lost in Fey

The follow-up to Red Moon Demon is a more complete story. There isn't the long setup required. Our 'hero' Caine Deathwalker is still as obsessed with sex booze and killing as ever. But he is questioning his own roots. After an assassination goes wrongheaded finds himself the target of a preternatural killer. Add to this the fact that he is tasked with restoring order to a town out of control and spiralling towards all out war between the fey, shapeshifters and vampires he's in a tight spot. When even his magic and weapons prove useless he has to rely on something new. Others.

The second book is much improved.

The character is more established as are his supporting characters. There is still a need for an editor/proofreader but that too is diminished from the first book.

The strength of this book is its take on the mythos of the universe. Were creatures other then Wolves can dominate. Courts of Fey other then Winter/Summer, Dragons, and lots of different types of magics.

Im going to go download book 3 now.

I enjoy the premise of this series. But whoever the Editor is, they need to be taken out back and beaten. The spelling errors and sometimes clashing imagery is like a slap in the face from time to time. I'll try one more in the series to see if things improve. Really sorry that such sloppy proofreading is killing this for me.

This series is pretty awesome. I think I can describe it best by saying it's a combination of Hellequin and Demon Accords. The MC is definitely an anti-hero and there can be moments where he is very gritty. The second book of the series drew me in even more and I'm eager to read the third book.

Great!

Great read! Can't wait for the next book in the series! Fast paced, funny, only downside is that the main character is a sexist pig....but seems as if that might be changing....

The plot was better than the first book, but I HATE the fact that the author doesn't even care enough to proof read this misogynistic drivel! Having read some of the reviews of books 3-5 I will not be wasting time on anything else by Morgan Blayde.

Still funny

Cain has to try and be a diplomat and resolve a crisis in Sacramento. Still has the traits that made the first book so great. Now he evolves and manages to claim some land in the fey wilderness right next to the winter court.

Better then the first book, still not a huge fan of the main character. To typical. Story and side characters are interesting.

A bit better than the first book, it's a little more orderly even through its still action after action followed up by even more action.

The spelling mistakes were enough to bother me, the spelling impaired.
The editor of this book should be terminated.

Wow, maybe this series is affecting me.
