From “The Salty Tale of Noah and the Ark” to “The Lasting Story of the Last Supper,” the rhyming tales in Treasury of Bible Stories remind us God loves his people — in the Bible and today. Not even mom or dad will grow tired of reading its pages night after night . . . after night.
The book is the fourth installment in David C Cook’s Magnificent Tales series, which includes the three previously released stories. Treasury of Bible Stories contains the most beloved biblical narratives from both the Old and New Testaments, leading up to Christ’s death and resurrection. Pulley chose key stories with the strongest spiritual lessons and images that would jump off the pages.
Filled with clever cadence, captivating art and clear spiritual lessons, Treasury of Bible Stories will quickly become a reader’s beloved family tradition.
When Kelly Pulley was very young he dreamed of being a cowboy, unfortunately he didn’t have a horse, a hat or a rope, so his range riding dreams were temporarily corralled. He did have a Deluxe 64-count box of Crayola Crayons with a built-in sharpener — so instead of cow poking, he became an artist. Now Kelly is a full-time writer and illustrator of children’s picture books. He teaches and entertains kids with his humorous books and inspires them to discover their own creative voices through his YouTube videos. He has illustrated numerous children’s books including many in the Best-selling Beginner’s Bible and Veggie Tales series.
He has authored and illustrated several picture books, including the outlandish and wacky Ten Unusual Features of Lulu McDunn (Gauthier Publishing), and the humorous, Bicycle-themed Bicycling Rules of the Road, and The Cycling Wangdoos, (Schiffer Publishing).
Kelly is also the author of the inspirational Magnificent Tales series, Food for a Fish — The Whopping Story of Jonah and the Whale, Good News of Great Joy — The Amazing Story of Jesus’ Birth, The Biggest and Toughest — The Short Story of David’s Big Faith, Daniel for Lunch — The Tasty Tale of Daniel in the Lion’s Den and Treasury of Bible Stories — Rhythmical Rhymes of Biblical Times (David C. Cook).
Kelly writes, illustrates, films, directs and edits, original stories and poems weekly for his YouTube channel, Kelly Pulley’s Storybook Studio.
His illustrating clients include: Zonderkidz, Worthy-Ideals, David C. Cook, Lifeway, Wiley Publications, United Methodist Publishing House, The Clever Factory, Studio Fun International.

He enjoys spending time with his four grown children and his beautiful wife, Vickie, in the Nashville area.
My Review: The first thing that I noticed about this book was how well the rhythmical rhyming was completed. This was an awesome feat done by the author. I thought to myself, she's good! Complete with some of the Bible stories that we all grew up reading, this book is 351 pages of very intense rhyming that I'm sure took the author a long time to complete. This book isn't your standard beginning reader it is geared towards 4-8 yr olds but I'm positive my four year old wouldn't be able to completely understand it.
My 9 year old on the other hand was able to read it with no problem and actually enjoyed it. And he thought that some of the authors wording was hilarious. I like a book that my children can enjoy and it is an added bonus if it is Bible related. The illustrations are very colorful and drawn very similar to the other books included in the Magnificent Tales series. If you are interested in purchasing this book, you can do so at this link. Perfect for rainy day reading or for a bedtime story, these will take you some time to read through, but so worth it!

After a long and busy day there is nothing that I enjoy more is those few quiet moments just before bed when my daughter and I crawl under the covers and chat about our day. One of the last things we do together is to read two stories, the first one is always a Bible story and the second is a “whatever” story.
Often times I find myself avoiding some stories with my daughter because they are just too scary. The first time I ever read her the story of Noah’s Ark she started to cry because it was raining outside and she was convinced that God was going to flood the world again. She is very sensitive and I have to be careful about what I read to her just before bed.
“Magnificent Tale – Treasury of Bible Stories” is a perfect book for bedtime. Each rhyme re-tells Bible Story in a whimsical and playful way making the stories a little less scary. Last night we read the story of Daniel and the Lions Den. I was concerned that she was going to find it too scary but she leaned over to me and whispered, “Don’t worry Mom, God will keep him safe.” Even through the humour she is able to understand the truths and lessons behind each story.
The stories are lyrical and are easy to read aloud. The illustrations are bright and colourful. The author has done an excellent job at keeping the stories true to the Bible. Each story is a perfect length for bedtime. Both the Old and New Testament stories are retold. I love how the beginning of each story tells where in the Bible it comes from. I think this is a book we will read again and again.
When my son hears me reading the stories, he’ll sneak out of his room and crawl into bed with us to hear “just one more story” before his own bedtime. This is a book that is fun for all ages and shares important truths and lessons that I want my children to remember, learn and live.
If you are looking for one book to keep by your child’s bed I highly recommend “Magnificent Tale – Treasury of Bible Stories”.

The Magnificent Tales Treasury of Bible Stories: Rhythmical Rhymes of Biblical Times features twenty well-known Bible story poems illustrated by Kelly Pulley. The narrative lines up with the Biblical accounts except for a few minor discrepancies. Example: Guards at the tomb pretending to be asleep rather than fainting. As is common for this type of book, some of the less pleasant details of stories are omitted. Example: Jonah getting angry that the people of Nineveh repented. I liked that the story of Jesus' baptism was included as not many Bible story books recount that one. Each separate story has a title page which makes it perfect for reading just one or two at a time.
This collection of Bible story poems is recommended for children from four to eight years of age. I didn't realize that at the time I signed up to review it. However, my two year old loved it! We've had it around the house for at least a week now and she still looks though it every day. That's a lot more use than some of her books get...
Like most Bible story books, the narrative is a rhyming poem. The poetic meter changes between stories and sometimes even during the stories, but the lyrical quality makes it engaging for children. Unfortunately, during the story of Joseph, the only word that is used to rhyme with “dreaming” is “seeming.” Since “dreaming” is used often, so is “seeming.” It's very repetitive and probably my least favorite story in the book. However, the repetition didn't bother my daughter in the slightest and since the book is for her, it isn't a big deal.
My daughter, my husband and I liked the illustrations. This book is 352 pages long and well over half of those pages are fully illustrated. The colorful illustrations brought the stories to life for my daughter. Although the characters have strangely large knobs on their elbows and knees, it gave us something extra to giggle at as we went through the book and I consider it very well-illustrated.
Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. This book is so much more than I expected! It is a thick hard back book that children will enjoy reading! Kelly Pulley took the many Bible stories and told them in rhythmic form for example from Esther's :
The king of the kingdom of Persia made known
that he needed a queen who could fill the queen's throne.
The king sent out searchers to search all around.
And bring back the beautiful women they found. (pg 164)
The entire book is put in easy language for youngsters to better understand and it makes it more fun to read to kids with a little rhyme! Obviously this is a not the Bible but these stories mean a lot to children who are learning about the Bible and who God is.
I have learned that while I grew up in Sunday school, others my age did not. And while I know all of these stories, others do not. They are just now hearing about Jonah and Esther. I so want the little ones in my life to hear these stories because they are important things that happened and show God's presence.
This is such a great book for ages 4-8 in particular. I highly recommend!!

Our family has enjoyed this Treasury of Bible Stories! We found that it is quite humorous while being Biblically accurate! I really liked the titles for each of the stories as they catch young ones attention. Plus the rhymes help make the story engaging and add some humor too!
My son loved the illustrations! Some of them are so silly and very eye-catching!
One thing I really appreciated is that even though there are not as many Bible stories as I originally thought, Kelly does a wonderful job in explaining each Bible story thoroughly! He didn’t skip over any minor details or made it to short, but neither was it too long (since my son young it was a little long for him so we had to break it up) and over descriptive for kids.
I would recommend this to families who are looking for a great way to engage children in reading Bible stories!

Treasury of Bible Stories Rhythmical Rhymes of Biblical Times by Kelly Pulley is a must have book for your children’s book collection. Because the well-known Bible stories are told in rhyme my boy’s attention was grabbed immediately. The book is well illustrated with beautiful eye grabbing gorgeous colors. With 351 pages, and a hard cover to make it a sturdy one for little hands. We keep it by his bedside, and is the first book requested each night. A cute and accurate way to bring bible stories to life for little ones and the rest of the family, the boys can’t wait to have their story each night and have shown a lot of anticipation. Even our 9 year old is excited by the story told in great way, and they giggle and enjoy the illustrations. A quote from the back of this book that is so true, “From “The Salty Tale of Noah’s Ark” to “The Lasting Story of the Last Supper,” the rhyming tales in this book remind us that God loves his people!” Amen! I received this book through Litfuse Publicity Book Tours, and was not required to give a positive review.
This was a very cute hardcover storybook with wonderful rhymes! Each story covered several pages with full color illustrations. Sometimes a line was funny, sometimes serious, but each story pointed out an important life lesson for a child to take away, such as trusting and obeying God. Some of the harder parts of the stories are glossed over, so it doesn't get too gritty for children, but it's still understood that bad things happened. The Scripture references are listed at the beginning of each story so they can be easily found in the Bible. This would make a great gift! I highly recommend it!

What gifted artistry this gentleman uses to educate children four through eight about the Holy Bible. Actually, it does not matter the reader level, child through adult. This beautiful book will be a treasured storybook for years to come for each family fortunate enough to own a copy. It appears that most of the reviews are written by much younger persons than I am. My husband and I hold dear to us eighteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren (at last count), who we would enjoy sharing these stories. Even though the grandchildren are grown I am sure they would want a copy of this book in their households for their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to come. Just one glance at the animation on the cover of this book would convince anyone of enchantment between the covers.
The poetry is so musically rhythmical that I can imagine David playing his harp….and singing the stories into Psalms. That might seem a bit farfetched, but the book touches me this way. The story titles are very witty; the subtitles thought-provoking. Several reviewers have pointed out what they deem to be a scriptural discrepancy and repetitive in rhyming. I disagree with that. Mr. Kelly Pulley did a remarkable job with this publication which is a delight to youngsters and adults alike. The graphics are fun and appeal to children brightly and imaginatively. I could not pick a favorite story; each one charmed me for different reasons. In fact, I even picked up new information or something I had forgotten long ago.
Kelly Pulley has created an heirloom. He talks about God’s love for all. I pray this book will become as important to families as a book of regular nursery rhymes. It definitely is a treasury of Bible stories, magnificent in every way. God bless you, Mr. Pulley for your unique gift. Many will become aware of God’s love for the very first time – no matter what age. Hey, I just started my Christmas list – can you guess what I will be giving this year?!

A number of years ago I encountered my first exposure to the use of cartoons to share the Gospel in the form of a tract. I had mixed feelings then because I feared the trivialization of God's Word was not treating it with the reverence and respect that should be accorded to it. I have, however, since then realized that there are many ways to share God's Word and different people have varied ways to learn and respond. So I therefore have tried to relax my personal views a bit.
Kelly Pulley is an author and illustrator whose work I have previously reviewed and enjoyed. So it is with pleasure that I am sharing this Treasury of Bible Stories that he has created.
As you can see from the shared pages depicted here, his art is colorful and very expressive while humorous and beguiling. Children will love these pictures. They make the stories come alive and fun for the children. While engaging for children, it is the parent's responsibility to also convey the serious nature of God's Word and that it is not to be taken lightly.
Nature of some of the text of stories..... He cried, "I am Joseph! There's no need to fear!" Joseph wept, and he asked that his brothers come near. "Don't be worried by things in the past, for time's shown they were part of a plan only God could have known. "God made good out of things that were bad, so it seemed, by giving His guidance through dreams that were dreamed." ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Now Haman was known as the king's right-hand guy, The people all bowed as he strutted on by. They kneeled in respect, which made Haman feel great! But Mordecai wouldn't, which filled him with hate!
I personally still prefer more "life like" illustrations without the cartoon characterization, but accept that this form of story telling and art can certainly get the job done and do it well.

Having a toddler...sharing the bible using a full, adult version can sometimes be daunting, because they are in that area where they really haven't grasped the basic concepts of the bible and at the same time, as parents, Sunday School teachers, family or friends, we want them to be engage and start establishing the basic foundations to understanding what the bible is about; With the book, "Treasury of Bible Stories Rhythmical Rhymes of Biblical Times," I felt that the 20 stories that were re-written, were done so that even my own toddler, imagination and attention was caught up in the book.
Colorful, toddler friendly, and seeking to try and express Biblical truths that would truly encourage the love for God's word, I like how Kelly created the format of this book, that is geared for the targeted audience of pre-readers to what I would guess, maybe kindergarten-first grade level readers.
The stories are meant to just start a foundation.
If you are looking for something more engaging as far for bible study for younger kids...this isn't it, and its about introducing the bible to children in a way that keeps their attention without straying far from Gods word.
Although the book is said to be for the age range of 4-8...I found that my 2 year old expressed interest in the book and this book maybe more for the 2-6 age range, since by age 8, many have established reading habits and are either ready for the Bible itself or for a bible that is suited for that particularly age range.
The illustrations are lush...the stories are rhythmical as promise and makes for a great nightly family moment to engage the kids in Gods word every night and any time.
Ah, the joys of a children’s Bible story book – source of many a fun memory while read from the laps of loving and devoted parents. Throw in beautiful, full-color illustrations and catchy rhymes, and you have the winning recipe for night after night of Bible story time.
Treasury of Bible Stories (Rhythmical Rhymes of Biblical Times) is a nearly perfect exemplar of just such a book. Author and illustrator Kelly Pulley (of The Beginner’s Bible fame) has blended her eye for color with her ear for rhyme to create a masterpiece of children’s literature that is sure to be read again and again in homes around the country.
The colorful illustrations are the first to grab your attention. Curly-haired people and animals emote their way through 20 Bible stories filled with action, truth and wonder. Nearly every page is an edge-to-edge painting that will enthrall young eyes and imaginations.
The rhymes are fun and sing-songy, lingering in the mind long after storytime is over. From the final stanzas:
“You must preach the Good News. You must tell all creation, and preach of salvation from sin to each nation.”
Then He held out His hands and He lifted them high And He blessed all His friends as He rose in the sky.
His friends all rejoiced as He floated to Heaven. Though Jesus had gone, He had left the eleven. He told them to go and not hide as they’d hid, And to preach the Good News to the world. So they did.
The Treasury Of Bible Stories: Rhythmical Rhymes Of Biblical Times is a wonderful option for teaching little ones the Bible. Not only is it full of 20 fabulous stories from within the Bible, it is simplified and made fun by the unique rhyming quality. The addition of the whimsical cartoon illustrations makes for memorable story moments with young children. I believe the detailed illustrations were our favorite part of the whole book, not only are they cute-they provide so much more detail to the stories you are reading.
This has quickly become my young ones favorite bedtime story books, which gives me quality time to be able to add a few more details to the stories we read. The simple approach to this book gives the foundation of each story that was chosen, and easily can be adapted into a wonderful learning experience going more in depth. The rhythmic way it is written allows young children to stay involved with what you are reading, I have yet to have my young ones become bored in the way it is read aloud. This is a huge bonus, as it is easy to have them do when the same tone is used while reading.
I found that Kelly Pulley’s Treasury Of Bible Stories is going to be used over and over again, even when the kids are older. The illustrations themselves provide a fun approach that warrants revisiting, both for the young and the old. A book that should be recommended to anyone and everyone to help in learning the foundations of the books/stories of the Bible.
This book is really cute and I’m so glad that I’ve had the privilege of reviewing it for Litfuse. I have six girls, ranging in age from thirteen, down to the baby at age one.
All of my girls have really enjoyed this book. My oldest daughter has been reading to her siblings and the littlest girls enjoy looking at the pictures as well as reading.
When I first took this book, I was thinking it would be more appropriate for my four year old but in fact, it’s a thick book with beautiful artwork and fantastically written rhythmical stories.
The thing I loved about this book is that each story was prefaced with where to find each story in the Bible and I think that is so important. I can read them the story from the Bible and then back it up with the children’s story book to make it a little easier for them to understand.
I would definitely love to see more Bible story books from this publisher and author.

The author doesn’t hid the fact that his main influence was Dr. Suess. And it comes across immediately and throughout the book of stories. Sometimes it works well and sometimes it seems almost like a parody. Consider this one:
God made a storm, and the rain beganlashing! The wind was whish-wooshing! The waves were slipsh-splashing!
With 20 stories from the Old and New Testaments, this book covers quite a lot of ground. We get some more obscure (in terms of kid Bible books) stories (Esther, for instance) but all of the ones you’d expect (Noah, Jesus’ birth, death and resurrection.)
Something I really liked was that the characters were every race and color. So many times in kid’s Bible books and shows Jesus and his Jewish disciples are depicted in a distinct European pallet. This story has black, brown, beige, peach, and every color in between for characters. Could they all be light brown showing more accurately the middle eastern color aesthetic? Sure. But by using all the colors no reader should be left out.
The artwork is whimsical and fun. The lyrics are definitely more pastiche than original. But they get the job done in telling the story well and keeping young readers engaged. A very well done book.
This book was provided by the publisher for review.
This is an absolutely wonderful book and one that I highly recommend. “Magnificent Tales” includes well-known bible stories that most children will hear in Sunday School from both the Old Testament and New Testament -- Stories such as Adam & Eve, Noah’s Ark, Daniel and the Lion’s Den, Jonah and the Great Fish, and ending with the birth of Jesus, his death on the cross and his resurrection.
The artwork in the book further complements the rhyming method of the stories. The pictures are very colorful and just fun to look at. I really enjoyed the way the Bible stories were put to rhyme and it makes for very easy reading. You may recognize the style of this author (Kelly Pulley) because he is also the illustrator of The Beginner’s Bible.
Again, I recommend this book as a staple for anyone’s library and anyone who wishes to instill the Word of God in their children starting as early as birth. It’s never too early to read the Bible to our children! (reviewed by P.Howard)

The bright, colorful cover will certainly draw youngsters to this book, but it is the rhyming Bible stories, along with the stunning illustrations inside that are going to hold their attention as they learn about several of the most popular Bible stories. A compilation of twenty Bible stories that will certainly allow your youngster to learn about some of the Bibles most popular characters in rhyming story. I love that the author provides the location in the Bible for the scripture that each story is based on. A few of the stories include Adam and Eve, the story of Queen Esther, and Jonah and the Whale. While I did find a couple of discrepancies within the stories overall the author holds pretty true to the Bible. Overall I think Treasury of Bible Stories is a wonderful addition to any youngsters library, and would also work well for homeschooling or to use in Sunday School. A book that will certainly become a favorite with youth 4 thru 8, and I can easily imagine that even nine and ten year olds might want to read this one themselves. I found it a delightful read that would be perfect for gift giving.
Treasury of Bible Stories, by Kelly Pulley is an amazing treasure. As a grandmother of a little girl, and of twin boys to come, I want to do my best to get them involved at a young age to know God. To know of his wonderful grace.
There are 20 stories that were retold from the bible. The illustrations are perfect. I was concerned before I read through it that some of it would be off. However, I did not find anything that would not be true. The Treasury of Bible Stories was written to entice the younger generation to want to read and listen.
Jacks favorite story so far is God's Bigger Plan. It is the story about Queen Esther that is based on chapters 2-10 in the book of Esther. Jacks loves to just look at the illustrations while I read to her. She can sit for hours just listening. As a book lover, that is so fine by me.
I give Treasury of Bible Stories 5 stars. I find that the stories are about spot on and that it will be a wonderful addition to your bookshelf. I know it is mine.
I received this book in hopes of an honest review on my blog My MisMatched World
This book is one your family will definitely treasure and share with little ones and grandchildren too.
There are 20 stories in the book. 12 stories from the Old Testament and 8 stories from the New Testament. Stories range from 20 pages to 6 pages. Most stories have an illustration on the opposite page.
I love how the illustrations are bright, colorful and eye popping. You can see the expression on the bible characters faces ranging in emotion from happy and sad to scared and excited.
The stories are told in rhyme which might make it easier for little ones to follow along with.
Surely, this book will be a family favorite. It makes an excellent addition to a faith based library.
This is a wonderfully written and illustrated Bible Story book. I loved the Bible Stories and loved how they were simple where kids could understand it, but yet they were so profound. Another thing that I loved about this book is that it gave the Bible references where each story could be found in the Bible.
The sing song and rhyming of the stories are really makes things easy to read and understand for the little ones. This makes a great companion to the children's Read To Me Bible. I found this to be a great new addition to your home library or a new treasure to be passed down through the new generations. So, come read and enjoy the stories of the Bible as they are brought alive with words and illustrations too.
I received a copy of the Treasury of Bible Stories in the mail a couple of weeks ago and my boys have read it multiple times since then. In fact, we read several stories the day it came in the mail. My 4 year old and 12 year both both liked reading it and looking at the pictures. We have read the stories before bed, at church, in the car-its perfect for them and the stories have bright pictures and are short.
This has been a great book to add to our Sunday church bag and personal book library!!
I'm a blog book reviewer for LitFuse Publicity so I was given this book complimentary in exchange for an honest review on my blog and social media-all opinions are my own.
The pages in this book are brilliant in color and instantly gravitate your attention to the illustrations, which is very important to a child who is trying to imagine the Bible. The Rhyming that went into these Bible Stories is Amazing and I don't believe I would have the talent to write these as well as the Kelly Pulley did. With that said, I think many children will love these Bible Stories because they can relate, laugh and treasure the rhymes. I think this type of Bible Stories book will help children remember Bible Stories and making going to bed enjoyable. As an adult, I love thought these were funny and I can't wait to curl up with a child to read these fun stories.
This treasury of Bible Stories is a gorgeous, collection of rhyming stories sure to delight young children. It's fun, colourful illustrations and rhyming text are well done. There are20 stories included, which is more than I expected. I absolutely love it and so do my kids, ages 2 - 10. This will be an often used storybook. This is the best collection of Bible stories I've seen yet!
I received this book from David C Cook and Litfuse in exchange for an honest review. My opinion is my own.
This book is beautiful, not only are the pictures bright, and colorful, they have great detail that draw you in. The rhyming stories are a fun way to tell children Bible precepts. My granddaughter, Nani read some of the book and my husband read to our granddaughter, Lily and she loved the stories. I highly recommend it!
This was a fun book to read and look at. I liked how the pictures were inviting to little kids. The way the stories were written were also written for kids to enjoy. Since these are written so well it is easier to read aloud to little ones. I mailed my copy to my four year old nephew and he was so excited to get it. What a great gift this would make for the little ones in your life.
*I received a free copy of this book through Goodreads First Reads in exchange for an honest review.*
This book of popular Bible stories is incredible and engaging for young readers and old alike. I love reading the stories to my son, and I'm sure he'll only enjoy them more as he grows in understanding. The illustrations are wonderful, and the rhymes fun. Beautiful book!
