2.75 stars Have you ever read a book that gave you the impression that the author didn't actually enjoy writing it? Like everything is straightforward, just rattling off a chain of events until they finally just get it all down in words? That's what I got from this book. There was no build up to anything, not even milestones within the relationship. Major plot points were revealed nonchalantly in conversation. I literally felt like the author was in a marathon to make it to the finish line of just getting this story out there. I'm not saying that's necessarily bad, but I suppose I just didn't see the point in telling it in the first place if that's the case.
Just a few things so potential readers know what they're getting into.
* Heroine: Mia, 21 * Hero: Dante, 35 * This is insta-love or insta-lust, however way you want to look at it, but they jump right in. There is no build-up, they don't get to know each other. Within the span of like 3 pages he's proposed (first time seeing the girl in 4 years mind you and they didn't know each other prior to that meeting either so essentially strangers from the start, though you could argue that at least they knew of each others' existence), she's moved in, and they're banging by the side of the pool. * Even though the pregnancy is revealed in the SECOND line of the blurb, it takes until about 56% of the way in the story for the heroine, Mia, to be/find out she's pregnant and it takes our Hero, Dante, even longer to find out * There are some unexplained questions lingering upon completion of this story for me. Why did Dante's father want him to specifically marry Mia? What had Dante convinced that Mia's father was responsible for the deaths of his parents? What made Mia's family and father such an enemy in their past? What was going on with the Gallo family? * Oh and if you hate the miscommunication or just lack thereof trope, you're probably going to be a little annoyed by this book.
All in all, I finished it. It was a quick, easy read. It somewhat entertained me, but it was lacking some key elements that could have made it so much better. Primarily heart and feeling. There was no real passion in this book and it suffered because of it.
This was a fast read, not as Mafia as other books I’ve read. Some scratch head moments with Mia, Some questions as to how Dante is a Capo when he acts / reacts like he does.
Read moments that have it potential, but for me a short on the mark.
This read was, well, just ok. Readers often need to suspend their disbelief, but I found I couldn’t really do that with this story. Just too unrealistic, imo. 3 stars.
Convinced that the Lorenzo's are behind the murder of his father, Dante Ricci sets out to extract his revenge. But he needs proof. When his father's will reveals he wishes Dante to marry Lorenzo's only daughter and heir, Mia, Dante sees an opportunity to get close and finally get the evidence he needs to declare war and wipe out the Lorenzo family once and for all.
It was supposed to be a means to an end. Purely convenient and (for Dante) a marriage in name only.
But Mia Lorenzo isn't what he expects and when she sets out to make a husband out of Dante, he really doesn't stand a chance :)
This mafia romance has the token violence, intrigue and wise guy cracks. Dante goes in with his eyes wide open, he doesn't have any plans to fall for his wife and tries hard to keep an emotional distance between them. Constantly reminding himself that he feels nothing, that he can't get attached and how their marriage had only one purpose, justifying his revenge. At the same time, Mia, completely clueless to her husband's ulterior motives, sets out to make her dreams of a family and loving husband, a reality.
There is a common enemy neither suspects that plays a large part of their reluctant (on Dante's part) emotional relationship that adds some action and mystery to the story. It's a Mafia read more on the gritty side than fluff. Could have used a bit more romance between the MCs, especially once Mia finds out what Dante had planned all along, but the ending wraps it all up with a cute reconciliation and epilogue.

Dante is the new Capo of the Ricci family after his father Enzo was just murdered and he believes his killer is Luca Lorenzo. In his father’s will there is a section stating his wishes and one wish is for his son Dante to marry Luca’s daughter Mia. Dante sees this as his way to get closer to Luca to avenge his father’s death. Mia was 17 when she first met Dante and he was 31 and he saved her life when bullets started flying but 4 years later when he visits Luca to discuss the marriage he sees a beautifully grown woman now that Mia is 21. She agrees to marry Dante as she has secretly been in love with him since he saved her life. Ok so something I didn’t like about this book. I get Mia’s jealousy due to Dante’s reputation but her age showed in just how immature she was especially in not talking her thoughts and fears out with him. I didn’t like Dante for what he is doing to Mia for revenge and using her like that. When they are together they make a great couple and I just wanted Dante to tell her how he was feeling but how can she keep the information she heard about who killed his parents from him. That shows just how immature and weak she really is, she knows who Dante is and what he does just like her father is so a real mafia princess wouldn’t keep quiet on that information and telling herself it’s so he wouldn’t get hurt…. Ok I get that but after she found out the killer was already dead why didn’t she say anything then?? In this lifestyle she knows information can kill and lack of passing on information could hurt people which she found out the hard way.
Lots of drama in this story! Dante is the Copado and his father was just killed. Dante knows that Luca Lorenzo (another Copado) is responsible. Mia is the daughter of Luca; she is around 21/22 and has been sheltered ever since she was in a shootout when she weas 17. Dante is the one who saved her, and she has been in love with him ever since. Looking for revenge, Dante decides to follow through with his father’s wishes for him to marry Mia.
Speeding things along, Mia moves in with Dante. She tells him that she will not put up with him cheating on her and that she hopes that one day he can grow to love her. She is very insecure as most “wise guys” have mistresses and she does not want that for her life. From the beginning she keeps thinking that Dante is cheating on her – I got a little tired of her whining about him cheating when Dante was not. Things do heat up with Dante and Mia and everything is hot and heavy. Dante seems to be getting closer to Mia than he planned. When Mia is kidnapped, Dante once again saves her and he is hurt in the process. While she was kidnapped, she finds out some information about Dante’s parents and who really killed them. She keeps this from him because she doesn’t want him to start anything and get hurt again in the process.
Had there been better communication, maybe things would not have unfolded as they did. Mia finds out what Dante is up to and leaves him along with his unborn child. Will Dante be able to get back in Mia’s good graces? He knows she is the one – will he choose Life over Death and Love over Hate?

So Dante, the Capo to the Italian Mafia, agrees to marry Mia (the daughter of another Capo). While others think its a marriage of alliance, Dante is doing it to avenge the death of his father who he believes was killed by Mia's father. But he falls in love with her, which he didn't plan on happening. After Mia is kidnapped, by a rival, she learns that Vincenzo (the man who is behind her kidnapping) was the actually one that killed Dante's parents. Dante finds and recues her quickly (that same day). A couple of days later she finds out that she is pregnant and when she tells him he freaks out and leaves (but comes back).
Mia's father ends up killing Vincenzo and all his men. Mia learns about Dante's plot to kill her father and after she tells Dante that it was Vincenzo that killed his parents she leaves him and go back home. After a night of drinking Dante goes to her the falling morning and apologizes and she takes him back.
This book was kind of different from the mafia books that I read. For one thing, Dante was really emotional. Most men in the mafia do not show their feelings and Dante cried at his father's funeral, he also came apart after getting shot and when Mia left him. He was not so hardcore to me. And Mia took him back really quick after he apologized for plotting to kill her father. I guess thats love for you!! But it was a good book.

Right before I listened to this audiobook, I listened to Secret Mafia Daddy. Between the two, I thought I'd like that one better. But it turns out I liked this one much better.
Dante's mother was murdered and he suspected Luca Lorenzo, but there was no proof and his father told him to let it go. When his father was murdered, he was determined to get his proof and his revenge. His father's will expressed his wish that he marry Luca's daughter Mia, and Dante sees it as a perfect opportunity to put his plans in motion. Mia has idolized Dante ever since he took a bullet for her four years earlier and is shocked at the proposal. But her father agrees it's a good match, and she is still very attracted to him and accepts. Mia is twenty-one and her age shows. She can be immature and made some stupid decisions. Dante is surprised at how beautiful Mia became since he last saw her, and despite his plans, is attracted to her. The story had danger and suspense. Was Luca Lorenzo responsible for his parents' death? If not, will he discover the truth? And will Mia and her father learn of Dante's suspicions and plan of revenge against them?
I listened to this audiobook narrated by Ryder Wolfe and Serena Moon. Both were good and their voices suited their individual characters. I just wish each narrator voiced all the male and female lines instead of each one narrating the entire chapter regardless of who's speaking.
This is the first book I've read in the Mafia sub-genre. I wasn't sure how I would like it even though I have loved all the mafia type TV shows and movies...but I couldn't put this book down! You can't help but find Dante to be so intriguing...I wanted him to be my boyfriend! Ha ha... well my husband is Italian so I guess that's my type. I was rooting for Mia and for their relationship to work out. Despite the world she grew up in she's a kind and lovable character who just wants to earn Dante's love and affection. She's been sheltered from most of the ins and outs of the mafioso world but she seems to still find the danger a little bit attractive when it comes to Dante. Dante has an agenda from the beginning and is trying to maintain his tough exterior and ignore his developing feelings but it comes off as cold at times and makes Mia wonder if he'll ever love her. As vulnerable as Mia may seem we find out that she's a headstrong woman when she needs to be. Additionally, there are some pretty hot and steamy scenes in here!!.

Loved the dual narration of Ryder Wolfe and Serena Moon

Mafia Boss's Surprise Baby by Kira Cole is an age gap arranged marriage romance story about Mia Lorenzo and Dante Ricci.
Dante's parents were both murdered and he believes Luca Lorenzo is responsible. When he finds his father's will and it says he would like Dante to marry Luca Lorenzo's daughter Mia, he decides to arrange the marriage with the intention of seeking revenge for what was done to his family.
Dante has a reputation as a womanizer, so he needs to convince Mia that he is going be faithful. Mia is a romantic and has been in love with Dante since she was seventeen. She is hoping that even though it is not a love match, that Dante will grow to love her.
This mafia love story is filled with action, danger and drama. I really enjoyed reading Dante and Mia's story. I will say that I wish Mia had made Dante grovel a little more at the end, but I am happy they got their HEA.

What's that saying: keep your friends close and your enemies closer? Dante Ricci takes that to heart. He is convinced that the Lorenzo family was responsible for the death of his father. Dante's father's will spells out that he wants him to marry the daughter of the Lorenzos, so Dante sees it as a way to get close to the family to find the proof that he needs for revenge. It's going to be a marriage in name only and he can get what he needs and get out. The only flaw in his plan is that he did not plan for Mia Lorenzo. She's aware that her husband to be isn't all into the marriage (even if she doesn't know why). She's made it her mission to make her husband fall.
While this story isn't light and fluffy (because it is at it's core a mafia story) there are definitely romantic elements. And watching the unsuspecting alpha male fall for the girl is always entertaining. The characters act and react appropriately. Don't be surprised if you get attached, too.
I actually enjoyed this novel. It's not real dark or overly spicy (there's definitely spice), it has the perfect MMC, and I adored the FMC.
Dante is the new Capo of his famiglia after the recent murder of his father. Dante will avenge his father's murder. When he reads his fathers will, he reads that one of his wishes is for him to marry the young daughter of his fathers rival, the man he knows murdered his father. 4 years ago, he saved Mia's life, but he hasnt seen her since. He decides he will marry Mia to get close to her father and avenge his father. Too bad Mia is all he never knew he wanted but can't let that get in the way of vengeance.
Mia has loved Dante since he took a bullet for her when she was 17. When he tells her father he wants to marry her to fulfill his fathers last wishes, she hopes that he will eventually fall in love with her too. The chemistry is there, but she can tell he's holding something back.
Good mafia story! It starts out that Dante gets close to Mia so he can get revenge on the death of his parents, thinking it was her father that did it but it takes Mia being kidnapped before he fines out who did it.He doesn't fine out right away and he stills plan to kill his father-in-law but he keeps putting it off.Mia has a secret for him and she finally tells him but she thinks he didn't take it well and because he was hurt when he went b to recuse Mia she doesn't want to tell him who was behind the killing of his parents and that puts a split between them.He finally realized that he does love Mia and they talk and b they give it another chance at happiness! See commutation is a must in marriage, especially in this one where love was one sided!

OMG! Wow, I was absolutely anxious to read this book it had me hooked from the start, the story kept on giving you more the characters were really captivating. This story was about Mia and Dante, the first time Mia seen him was when he saved her she was seventeen and had a crush on him, now at twenty-one she still kept thinking about him. Dante wants revenge for the deaths of his parents, when he read the will his father had one wish that he was to marry "Mia" Dante couldn't believe his father's wish. Now Dante was excited that he had a way of getting close to the person that killed his parents.

Dante Ricci is on a mission to avenge his parents’ murders at the hands of Luca Lorenzo. His plan: Marry Luca’s daughter Mia and use her to get close enough to kill him, then dump Mia. But as with many plans, this one goes awry, as he struggles not to fall for the woman he was just supposed to use. The situation gets more complicated when he learns there’s a baby on the way. Dante faces a choice: Choose loving Mia or hating Luca.
Dante and Mia were a great couple. She’d loved him for years and managed to wiggle herself right into his heart pretty quickly. We watched them both grow as individuals and together. And their steamy scenes were hottt! The epilogue was so sweet.
Highly recommend.

Dante was confusing. He started off this whole thing as revenge but his behavior towards Mia in the beginning didn't make sense. He hadn't developed any feelings for her yet he was tender and affectionate towards her. For someone who hates her and her family for what he thinks they did, he has a weird way of showing he doesn't care - especially for a hardened mafia capo. It didn't make sense for the character. Mia's constant questioning of his fidelity started to get annoying after the second time. The whole mess with the fathers didn't make sense because Dante thought her father killed his parents with no proof whatsoever. His own men turned on him and he was none the wiser - it's been happening for years apparently. Mia forgave him too quickly, he needed to grovel a lot more.
Dante's father dies and he knows that someone killed him. His father's last wish is for him to marry Mia and its works in Dante's plan because he thinks her father is responsible for his father's death. However, he never expected his attraction for her to be as strong as it is. Mia believes that love can gown between them during their marriage. Yet she doesn't know that he had an ulterior motive for being with her. Will Dante realize is love for Mia before its too late? Can she forgive him for his deceit?
This is an amazing story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

Well… It wasn’t that bad but I wouldn’t say it was good.
Things were pretty much all on the surface that the storyline fell so flat and underdeveloped, with lots of details that were unrealistic and didn’t really connect to each other; there was no build up, no climax whatsoever, added in the insta-love, which was one of my biggest icks ever btw, man I couldn’t feel anything other than cringe.
But on the bright side, the cover was so pretty tho, which was why I picked this up in the first place lol. Never judge a book by its cover, such a shame I guess…
Mia and Dante come from different Mafia families, their fathers are the leaders for their respective families. Dante’s father dies, and his last wish was for Dante to marry Mia. Dante, scheming, decides to do just that, but as a way to get closer to her father. (evil cackle here) He believes Mia’s father is responsible for his parents deaths and wants revenge. Mia is a warm hearted lady, and happily goes into the marriage, and falls in love with Dante. He does not plan on falling in love with his wife, but does. I truly enjoyed this story. It was well written. I really liked the characters. The narration was excellent. I received a free copy of this audiobook from BookSprout and am voluntarily leaving my review.
My first experience with Kira Cole and I liked(ish) it. The story had all the requisite circumstances a story with these tropes should have and the characters were portrayed as they should have been for their age, but nothing in this story wow’d me. It wasn’t unique in any way. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but for me, it was just there. I listened to it and I didn’t not like it but I wish it had more depth or even some element of surprise for the reader, and by reader I mean me. *shrug* This was also my first experience with both narrators, and they were pretty good in my opinion. Serena Moon and Ryder Wolfe played their parts really well but when it came to playing others, they fell a little short.
This was a short book, and maybe that plays a part, but the beginning (really the first third of the book) felt so fast it was like a whole section of the book was missing. The characters went from essentially having never met to instantly acting like a couple who'd been together for months or even really years. It was just a bit hard to believe, considering the circumstances around their relationship and who they were. It was kind of an act on one side, too, but also not. I also did not like Mia. She's quite possibly the most immature and childish 21 year old. I know she's still younger, but seriously. All in all, this wasn't the worst book I've read, but i didn't like the characters much, and there just wasn't much substance, so it really wasn't that interesting to me.
Mafia Boss’s Surprise Baby is an emotionally riveting tale with complex main characters, stunning supporting characters, and the intense world of the mafia lifestyle. The female lead is essentially the spoiled, sometimes clueless daughter of a mafia boss, who has been hopelessly pining after the mafia boss of a rival family. Chaos ensues in both their worlds when Dante takes her as his bride, and watching them navigate the trials and pitfalls is by turns hilarious, intense, and frustrating. The author has woven an interesting plot with some surprises along the way.

Miscommunication and misunderstanding before the HEA
Dante takes a bullet for Mia when she's 17, and she falls in love with him. Four years later, Dante's father is killed, and it's his wish that Dante marry Mia. It sets up the perfect opportunity for Dante to kill the man he thinks killed his parents.
There was miscommunication and misunderstanding throughout this book. The flow of what was happening seemed almost fast forward/abbreviated, which made it feel more like observing the book from a distance rather than being involved in it.
Really enjoyed the writing, draws you in from the start in a way that makes it easy to empathise with the characters. Would have given 5 stars but I felt that the main female character was depicted as quite mature for her age but then she reacts to something (no spoilers) in a really immature way that led to a completely unnecessary situation developing that could have been sorted very quickly. Apart from that it was a great read and I really liked the characters. Will look forward to more books from this author.

Dante wants revenge and he thinks Mia's father is the one responsible for his father's death. To get his revenge he goes after Mia and gets her to marry him all the while setting up his revenge but what he wasn't expecting was for Mia's demeanor to rub off on him or the fact that he may be wrong about her father being responsible for the death of his father. This action-packed story is filled with twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat to see how it will all end.

Loved this story. When Dante married Mia in an arranged marriage, it was for all the wrong reasons. This had loads of drama, danger, suspense and the usual Mafia intensity. I liked the slow build romance also and there were a few times I was wanting to skip ahead to see when the beans were spilled. But held off. Dante and Mia did have great chemistry and they really worked well together. Well done and a really great read!!.

Dante wants nothing more than to avenge his father's death and he is determined that the killer is Luca, Mia's father. When his father's last with is that he marry Mia, well what better way to get close to the man. I love how this story doesn't start out with them as enemies. They fight a little, but it is more of a possessive thing. The way they fight it is clear that their love is growing daily. I love this author and can't wait for more of her books, Everyone is an absolute page turner.
