This made me CRY!!!! I absolutely loved the content this book covered--some insanely heart-wrenching topics from the perspective of gospel women including rape, mental health, infertility, birth, death, so many questions. I didn't agree with some of the more potentially political stances she took that were sprinkled in here. Regardless, she shares the heart behind them BEAUTIFULLY, and I think it's important to read. She DOES take some creative routes for these women, which makes me curious about some of the research process she does. But I rarely weep over books. I wept over this. Hearing the depth of God's heart for women was stunning and beautiful. The liturgies really do beautiful work in body and spirit. It's rare to see embodied spirituality, and I loved it. Such a beautiful book overall. Recommend heavily for women wanting to dive deeper into an imaginative space with God.

Creative choices in regards to the writing of this book which leads me to want to know more about her research process. All in all I loved it!

This is a phenomenal book that gives voice to the women of my faith and the world. Every person will benefit from reading these Biblical women’s stories, deepening understanding and love for all. The liturgies included are a great way to worship, meditate, and pray. These stories have broadened my understanding of God and God’s love for us all. Read it right away, and then again and again! Great gift!!!

Poignant and challenging, this book is both a primer in women's roles throughout scripture *and* a deep dive on their impact.

Not what I was expecting at all ............

Beautifully written but short, the author takes large liberties with Biblical stories some of which is ok and some maybe not so much. Very political as well which I found disappointing. Will definitely challenge you and make you think.

It is a liturgical book with prayers, songs, and group ideas alongside the stories. I appreciated the organizations mentioned but the format just is not what I was looking for.

Not one I can highly recommend, if you read it just know you may disagree on several fronts but use it to consider why.

Blessed Are The Women is a beautiful, powerful, wise book that the world needs. Mckeever-Burgett skillfully weaves her own lived experience (as pastor/mother/activist/woman) with prayers, poetry, descriptions of justice work in communities, and creative narratives of women in the Gospels telling their stories. Elizabeth, Mary, Anna, Mary Magdalene and the other women (who are unnamed in the Bible) become three-dimensional humans with past hurts, courageous hearts, and future dreams. The women of the New Testament claim their voices and speak truth to the experiences of women today with poignancy and clarity.

After many years of feeling disillusioned by the masculine-language prescribed to God and the sexism in churches, I am grateful for the ways I felt seen and nourished by this book. I'm confident that this book will be a healing, inspiring companion to girls, women, and all humans seeking connection to a God who is deeply loving, nurturing, and inclusive.

Great Book for Groups and Sunday School Classes
Over the years I have belonged to Sunday School classes and various church-related Study Groups. Claire McKeever-Burgett's BLESSED ARE the WOMEN makes an excellent book for this purpose. The study guides and suggested questions that accompany the stories and scriptures turn this meaningful scriptural storybook into a resource text that can be used again and again.

An incredibly creative and ambitious book celebrating the stories of women of the gospel and their relationship with Jesus. The author gives voice to these very important women while sharing her own story.
