The Chaos Clock: Tales of Cosmic Aether is an anthology with 13 fantastic authors collaborating who have cleverly woven a fusion of cosmic horror and steampunk.

Just look at the wonderful cover which promises to reveal all the unknown, dire and devilish secrets inside. Each author brings their own uniqueness, their own twists, their own quirks, their own passion to the table and do it so credibly.
Each story brings cosmic horror, eldritch menace, destruction, chaos, mayhem, and madness which is exciting because you never know what you are going to get and that adds to the anticipation of things to come. Each story is as intriguing as it is engrossing and will have you on the edge each and every time.

First, a huge thank you to NeoParadoxa for sending me an e-book copy of The Chaos Clock in exchange for an honest review, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Second, the cover art for The Chaos Clock is incredibly eye-catching. It immediately drew me in and intrigued me, it's stunning, well done! Oh and the illustration in the book! I wasn't expecting that and it gave me a little jump scare, loved it! Another thing that intrigued me was that this book is an anthology. Although I typically don't read steampunk, I do enjoy horror and thought I'd try something new and I am so glad I did.
Overall, I would rate this book a 4/5 stars. I enjoyed the thirteen authors' different writing styles. Some of my favourite short stories were, The Thirteenth Hour by Hildy Silverman, The Last Flight of the One-Eyed Jack by F.R. Michaels, Saving Time by Jody Lynn Nye, and The Eye at the Center of Existence Never Blinks by Maxwell I. Gold. Additionally, I thought that this anthology was a great fusion of horror and steampunk, well done!

This book had multiple writers who each wrote a chapter to the story. Each chapter was a short story about different characters that meld into one story. It's not the type of book I would usually choose to read. It was creative and interesting.

This book had 14 different stories that kept me entertained and thoroughly enjoyed. Each story had its own little spin, but all had the same concepts around time. Some stories were dark in nature, horrifying, to a fantasy world, the paranormal or the unknown, to sci-fi, that it wouldn’t matter what your favorite is there is something in here that you would thoroughly enjoy. The stories each were a different world that really made you feel the story, the twists and turns in some holds you close and won’t let go. The worlds in each one were interesting on their own, and the story lines of each were easy to follow. Each story had its own mystery element and the thought of unknown to it, that for being short stories im always amazed at how much plot, development twists and turns, mystery, and the story itself can be packed into the small number of pages. One after the other my attention was held by each and every one of these stories.

Not gonna lie, the cover of this one pulled me in instantly, but the synopsis of the anthology made me too curious I had to find out what was inside. While I love works and shows inspired by HP Lovecraft and HG Wells, I have never personally read any of their work or anything like their work until now. This book is composed of fourteen stories by a total of thirteen authors. One key backbone across them all, time.
The steampunk and clocks pull everything together flawlessly to fully immerse you in each of the stories. While they are in this anthology, they are not continuations of each other they all have their unique voice. I don’t usually take my time with anthologies, I tend to devour them quickly, but this one really makes you take a moment to think about the depth of the stories and keeps you coming back to see what’s next. I hope to see more from this group of incredible authors and their visions.

Enter a fantastical world filled with many original stories that make you think, feel, and wonder. Time moves for all beings, but while reading these stories I felt like time stood still. I got lost in each story and loved every one of them. Each tone, theme, and character were all uniquely different and displayed each author's talents. I can’t even pick a favorite story because they all touched on so many different things! I wish I could rewind time and read it again because I truly enjoyed the steampunk and horror aspects!! I highly recommend giving this anthology The Chaos Clock a read if you have the time.

This is an awesome collection of short stories that all share a similar theme: time. For anyone who loves steampunk and the like will appreciate this anthology. Admittedly, I am not too familiar with the writings of H.P. Lovecraft or H.G. Wells, but I may be after reading this. I found this to be entertaining and definitely intriguing. I love the late 19th/early 20th century Industrial Revolution era when inventing and creating were so prevalent. Each story is engrossing, and I wanted to spend a great deal more pages intertwined in each of their worlds. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to spark their creative energy and travel across time and space.

The Chaos Clock: Tales of Cosmic Aether is a wonderfully well written multi-author anthology. Right away I want to mention how much I love the cover, just a stunning work of art that absolutely snatches your attention. Each of these stories will do the same, grab your attention and absolutely not let go. Each one is different and unique, with each following the concept of time in beautiful, interesting, and some odd ways. I thoroughly enjoyed reading each one, and had trouble trying to put it down!

This is a collection of short stories. Each of the short stories centers on the theme of time/ space. Each story is set in the late nineteenth to early twentieth centuries. It was a time when people were able to experience and begin to understand many wonderful inventions. Perhaps, readers may be meant to glean that humans are not meant to know everything, that some mystery must remain in the universe. The short story format allows readers to reflect upon what they have ingested.

With some darker tones, horror, dystopian elements, steampunk, fantasy, sci-fi. paranormal, some zany characters, a few quirky storyline, dramatic developments, twisty vibes, and plenty of mysterious- the collection is bound to hold your attention.

You know what i really love? Anthologies? And what I love even more? Sci fi anthologies. It took me a while to read this book because i wanted to go slow and really enjoy every story. This books deserves to be compared to HP Lovecraft and HG Wells. The stories was so atmospheric and the feeling of doom was like a big cloud through all of the stories. Even though they are different writers, it all came together so good like it was written from one person.

The Chaos Clock is made up of 14 short stories about time and clocks. I really enjoyed the concept and ideas that went into this anthology, and how each story is remarkably unique from the others. I really loved the steampunk vibes and how each author was able to capture their own take on the power of time. This can be a bit of a slower read if you do not enjoy similar writings of HP Lovecraft or HG Wells (both of which I respect and enjoy). This is one you can read straight through or pick and choose your way around the book, and I hope more anthologies are to follow! The stories included are:

This is a unique collection of short stories by 13 different authors. Most of these authors were new to me and it was a pleasure to read their stories. Each story is different and unique in their own way but they all are thought provoking . Each story is to do with time and the effect this has on our life's and the dangers that happen when we try to control or change time.
All the stories deal with chaos, destruction and madness. It gives you an insight into the danger that could happen if we were to give into the madness.
Some of the stories I found a little hard to get into at first but I am so glad I kept reading else I would have missed out on some amazing stories.
This is definatley a book you could settle down with a lose yourself and lose hours of the day as the stories twist and turn. I couldn't put it down the stories were so gripping.
I will definitely be keeping my eye on some of the authors in this anthology to see what else they produce.
If you love stories that are so thought provoking that they mess with your mind, contain twist and turns that you don't see coming and keeps you hooked for hours then this is definately the collection for you. There is something for everyone in this anthology.

Who doesn't love running across an anthology of stories where you feel as though you are running out of time?
This collection of stories edited by Ms. Ackley-McPhail was an intriguing and engaging read. It was enjoyable to pick up and read a few at a time (usually before bed). I was drawn to this book because of the cover and the name but I stayed through the end because each work within was unique and worth the read.
I probably read this book over the course of about a week. Since each story is separate, you don't have to rush towards the end and it's a book I kind of want to pick up in physical form so I can tab my favorites.

The Chaos Clock is a steampunk anthology, collecting short stories from a variety of authors focusing on the theme of time and clocks. It’s a great way to sample different authors and enjoy thrilling and original stories.
One of my favourites is The Last Flight of the One-Eyed Jack. I love stories with pirate ships in the sky and this one has a loveable cast of characters on an intriguing quest.
I liked the epistolary form of The Birth of Mechanical Things, where we only get to see one side of the story and imagine what is happening to the other characters.
There are plenty of diverse characters in these stories, including characters with steampunk prosthetic limbs such as the lighthouse keeper in Lighthouse at the Edge of Time.
This collection gets five stars from me! It’s perfect for steampunk fans who want bite-sized stories that will fuel their imaginations!

The Chaos Clock: Tales of Cosmic Aether edited by Danielle Ackley-McPhail . This is a wonderful anthology of steampunk, thrilling stories. There are 13 different stories by 13 different authors and they are all really good. They are short stories full of destruction, mayhem and secrets. There is horror, dystopian, fantasy and sci-fi. One of my favorite stories was the Lighthouse at the Edge of Time by Teel James Glenn. It included a Lighthouse Keeper with a steampunk prosthetic limbs that was so cool to read about. These books will keep you entertained for hours and keep you on your toes throughout. This anthology will keep you busy reading for days and it took me a week to finish it. This book is filled with wonderful authors and stories that will stay in your mind for a while, which I consider to be a great read!

What an incredible anthology! This collection of steampunk horror tales is by far one of the most gripping and interesting reads of the year for me. The cover was intriguing and drew me in without fail. I picked it up without reading the synopsis but once I did, I knew I had to dive in immediately. After opening the first page, I realized that there was no turning back. I lost an entire day devouring this absolutely magnificent collection. You could absolutely read a story and put it down for another time, but I have no self-control! Phenomenally unique stories that have a common theme, but all differ from each other. I don’t think I can pick a favorite because they were all exceptional. I highly recommend picking this up if you enjoy the Lovecraft and Wells vibes!

When I saw a new book by Danielle Ackley-McPhail, I picked it up to read without hesitating. So it was a pleasant surprised to find this actually be a collection of steampunk themed books, all with a common theme of time. It was delightful to discover each new story, and new author for the most part, as I made my way through this book.
I thought this collection of stories all molded together really well. It is a more unusual genre to write about and yet each author added to it beautifully. Each of these stories was unique, interesting to read and thoroughly enjoyable. I had already added a few more authors to me “to be read” list.

I normally prefer stories that are much longer and filled with more information, but this anthology was concise and allowed the reader to feel satisfied. Some anthologies are disjointed and you can easily get confused by the change from one story to the other, but this anthology is refreshingly cohesive and transitions beautifully. Though I've never read any Lovecraft or Wells, this anthology definitely reflects references I've heard before with great twists! These stories will give you full-body shivers, have the hairs on the back of your neck standing up, and make you question time. I love the horror and chaos of these pieces and thoroughly enjoyed the thrills each offered!

A well-crafted anthology from 13 different authors. Each was so unique, yet they all collectively blended together with a theme of Time. I was just too hard to pick a favorite, all so different but so very good. You will truly get lost in these quirky stories. Each I believe has something for everyone to enjoy in some way. Some are dark, horror, paranormal, steampunk, dystopian, pirates, lighthouses mayhem and much much more. Definitely grab this book up. I think it is one I will read more than once.

This is not my usual read, but I enjoyed the collection of short works. It’s always a gamble when you pick up a collection like this, so it’s a treat when it turns out to be good.
There are thirteen stories included, but three that intrigued me were: On the Face of It by Danielle Ackley-McPhail, Lighthouse at the Edge of Time by Teel James Glenn, and Accelerando by James Chambers.

An excellent collection of creepy, Lovecraftian inspired steampunk where the stories range from chilling to tragic and never disappoint. If you like your fiction on the weird occult horror side, then this is the book for you.
I enjoyed all the stories, and liked the thread of a time theme that ran through the book, and while some stories were more delightfully disturbing than others, they all had an excellent creepy vibe. I highly recommend the book.

This novel is a steampunk anthology with a variety of authors focusing on the theme of time and clocks. Each of these stories were unique and interesting to read. The authors did a great job of capturing the steampunk aesthetic and creating stories that were both entertaining and thought-provoking.

This is an amazing anthology of stories that make you use your brain I was left thinking and wondering about many of these stories. They were quite fascinating and intriguing to me. I don't think I've read science fiction in a while that's been quite so captivating to the mind. I sat and read this late into the night. I found it a really enthralling read.

What a fun anthology of short stories! Ackley-McPhail has put together a fun and thought provoking anthology. Each author's story is unique but all are told with a steampunk theme. The anthology delves into the chaos, horror, and power of time. I felt like even though all the stories were unique they flowed well together.
