I loved this story. I loved the characters, their intense longing for one another, and their desire for something more. Chase and Emmett have a complicated situation at the beginning of their story, which is further complicated after the five-year jump. This is a forbidden romance on many levels and I enjoyed how neither knew the true extent of the other's feelings until almost too late.

Chasing You is a mildly angsty second chance, age/gap romance that I couldn't get enough of. The characters are absolutely smitten with each other in an adorable way. There was a bit of concern regarding the status of their HEA, but I loved how everything turned out.

Overall this is a great novella that focuses on a complicated love story between Cash and Emmett, who have a complicated story, but their love for one another is so pure and sweet I couldn't get enough.

Cannot wait for more from this author. Fantastic debut!!!

I enjoyed this book a lot.

Chasing You is the debut novel of Felicity Snow and I was pleasantly surprised with it. Emmet and Cash were such a delight. 🤤

First, it's important to mention that this book has a bit of a taboo touch (Emmet is the teacher of Cash and falls in love with him when he is still in high school and 18 years old.) Nothing happens then of course and we are transported to five years later soon after that.

Cash returns to his hometown after getting his degree. He has dreams to chase and is determined to get them. Emmett on the other hand has "forgotten" about Cash and is now engaged. The moment he sees him all the feelings he thought were long gone surface. The situation gets even more complicated when they need to work together.

Chasing You is a beautiful second-chance romance, full of intense longing that will make you glued to your Kindle because you NEED to see these two together. It's full of forbidden feelings, intense emotions, tears, love, dreams, and two people who are irrevocably in love with each other.

Keep in mind the book has:
- a bit of taboo touch
- cheating (emotional and mild physical; not between the two MCs)

The reason I lowered my rating is mainly because the beginning was too sudden like I was dropped in the middle of a book where I already should know the characters. I also don't usually read from this point of view so it took me a bit of time to get used to it (but that's on me, not the book). And I would have loved to see more of them together at the end (even though I realise this is a novella).

Overall, I enjoyed Emmett and Cash a lot. Cash was such a sweetheart! I'm looking forward to more books by Felicity Snow.

*I received a complimentary copy of this book, and this is my honest opinion.*

Overall Opinion
Anyone who knows me knows I love a teacher/student romance and when I saw this book was coming out, I jumped at the chance to read and review it! Being a novella, it ran pretty quickly and I ate it up in one sitting, but the story itself wasn't rushed and was paced perfectly. We meet Cash and Emmett while Cash is still Emmett student, both crushing hard on one another but unaware of the others feelings. From the beginning the pining is intense and swoon-worthy, and when they rekindle 5 years later, Emmett is engaged and planning on marrying in 3 months, despite all the feelings that come crashing back. Now coworkers, they are forced to spend more and more time together, leading to more pining and emotions that dont seem to go away. Despite the context, the angst level is low, and the writing flows perfectly, leaving you wishing the story never ended. I thoroughly enjoyed this novella and cannot wait for what the future holds for the author.

Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Steam: 🔥🔥
Angst: 🥺

Main Tropes:

💙 Teacher/student
💙 Age-gap (minor)
💙 Second Chance
💙 Gay/Bi-sexual awakening

This was a very cute and well-written story from a debuting author. A forbidden crush which gets a second chance 5 years later.

What I really loved was the thorough character development through the Dual POV and the gradual portraying of their love story. It was very touching to follow this at first insta-attraction and then the real, deep love between the two MCs.

Eventhough, the story was low angst, there were at least two scenes, where I had to bring out the tissues 🥺🥺

I’m expecting great things in the future for this new, interesting voice in MM Romance.

Unfortunately this just didn’t work for me. The story is shorter in length so I felt like there wasn’t much character development. We had these two men who were attracted to each other when Cash was a senior in high school and Emmett was his 26 year old teacher. They “fall in love” at that time but I didn’t totally believe they could have had such deep feelings for each other then. Cash was way too young to truly understand love and there wasn’t enough of the author delving into how they fell in love. Instead we are told they spend time in school together talking and also volunteer once a week somewhere. I think the story would have benefited from more in depth conversations to bridge the age gap at that time because even though it’s not a huge age difference once their older the maturity of a man in his mid-twenties is very different than a young man of 18.

The story then jumps ahead 5 years and Emmett is engaged to a woman named Harper. Cash comes back to town still in love with Emmett and wants to follow his dream of pursuing that love. He is crushed to find out that Emmett is engaged and tears ensue. There were a lot of tears in this book. I love when men are open with their emotions but these characters cried a lot.

Cash starts working at the same school as Emmett and they both still “love” each other but Emmett is getting married in mere weeks. They go on a school trip to Washington DC and room together and of course there’s only one bed. That scenario fell flat because nothing happened besides more crying and pining between the men. I was hoping for some sexual tension or lovely bonding but there was just more telling and not enough showing.

Cash finally tells Emmett he loves him on his Emmett’s wedding day then he leaves to fly to California for a new beginning. Emmett tells him he can’t call off the wedding and hurt Harper but that is what he does. We never get more on that, just a quick explanation that Harper’s family and friends are still a angry year later.

There could have been more development at this point of the men starting a relationship but there isn’t, the author closes with an epilogue where they are already married and everything is perfect.

This was just too short in my opinion for the story to be fully told. I skimmed pages because it was not holding my attention. If you like extra sweetness and want a short read then this may be for you. The author has a nice writing style and I would read another book of theirs but hopefully it will be a more in depth story.

This novella is packed full of emotions! The pining 😩 it kept them pages turning!! I love this little book, go give it a read.

Cash is in his last year at school, he’s in love with his history teacher, but he knows nothing will happy between them, but it don’t stop him from longing to be with him. So after some advice given by Emmett as he leaves for college “Chase your dreams”, he does just that. He becomes a teacher himself and is now back in the town he grew up in, he has one more dream to get.
Emmett.
But he’s engaged……….

Emmett knows he shouldn’t have these feeling for his student and it’s very hard to keep them hidden, but he’s off to college soon so he’ll be able to move on with his life. 5 years later he’s engaged to be married but the return of Cash who is now a man brings all them feelings back. All he has to do is ignore them again.
Easy right……

I loved the emotions in the book, even though it’s short you feel them, it feels real and your routing for these two, I did expect more of the cheating element physically, but it was just emotional till near the end but don’t let it put you off it’s a great read. These men had a great connection and neither was in to to hurt anyone but sometimes you just need to put yourself first.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC for Chasing You, I read this book in less than 24 hours.
The story tells us how Emmett and Cash first meet, Cash is in awe with his teacher and has had a crush on him since day one but never thought he had a chance with his sexy teacher.
The story has a timeline where they guys don’t see each other for 5 years as Cash is away at university studying to become a teacher, they stumble into each other at a coffee shop and the attraction rekindles.
There’s not much drama so it makes it a nice easy read with a well deserved happy ending.
I look forward to reading more from this author 💕

I loved the blurb for this book and I knew I had to read it. This is an amazing debut book from the author and I can't wait for their future books.

Emmett is a high school history teacher. He met Cash when he became his student and he was instantly attracted to the young man. The more time they spent together, the more his feelings grew. What he didn't know is that Cash felt the same.

It is 5 years later and Cash is back in town. He gets shocked when he finds out that Emmett is engaged to be married in 3 months. The attraction is still burning bright between them and refused to go out!

I loved all the pinning and my heart broke for them, especially Cash. He returned to win Emmett, but only ended up with a river full of tears. They are thrown into close proximity when Emmett comes to work at the school for a few months. They keep getting thrown together and even more so on a school trip.

They both struggled so much and we got to see that more so when we see things in Emmetts' pov. There are some very sad moments and your heart breaks for everyone concerned.

It may be a novella, but it doesn't feel rushed. The pacing is great and we get all the background info we need to make this believable. You felt their feelings for each other, jump from the page. You feel their emotions with them and feel all their ups and downs. It may not be filled with sex scenes, but this book doesn't need that, it does amazing with the spicy scenes we get. You feel the sexual tension and how close to the edge the are.

This book does deal with cheating, mainly emotional, but there is scene with a tiny bit more

Tropes: Teacher/Student, Second Chance, Small Age-Gap, Close Proximity, Only One Bed

A debut from this author that I found myself intrigued to read as for the majority, one of the MC's is in a relationship.
Emmett meets Cash as his teacher when Cash is a senior. There's the forbidden aspect of the relationship at that time and then the story skips five years when Cash moves back to town but then Emmett is engaged to be married, where he struggles with what he feels he should do against what he truly wants.
My heart did go out to both men as you can really feel the emotional aspects from both when coming from each POV. It is a shorter story but it is fast paced so we move through things rather quickly. That doesn't stop you from feeling the tension and yearning that they have for each other. It is, overall a sweet story with an age gap element (eight years) as Emmett battles with himself over following his heart for the young man he fell in love with who left and is now back in town, with the same pull that draws Emmett to him. Cash dreamt of coming back and being able to finally ask Emmett out, no longer his student and on equal ground. I was surprised with how emotional things got for him, especially when he shares a moment of time when he was away at college and when he looks to his parents for comfort.
There's a lot packed into this short story but it's very worth reading and a wonderful debut from Felicity Snow. I wasn't too sure how I'd fare with a character still being in a relationship but it all works out for the best in the end.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

A Joyfully Jay review.

3 stars

Emmett and Cash start off as teacher and student when Cash is a senior and is 18 years old, but there is no romantic relationship at all while Cash is in school. Emmett is a mentor to Cash and someone that Cash can talk to about coming out, but Emmett does wish the timing was different and there are also signs that Cash is crushing on Emmett. When Cash returns five years after high school, his dream is to be with Emmett. Cash never counted on the fact that Emmett would be involved, but Emmett is engaged to a woman with his wedding quickly coming up.

Cash is also a teacher now and gets hired at his former school where Emmett still works. This puts the men in close proximity and the pining is intense. This is a novella, so time is of the essence here. I didn’t feel it was at all necessary for the story to have Emmett to have a fiancé. She wasn’t an overly developed character and there were plenty of areas of conflict to draw upon without adding this in.

My biggest issue with this book was the pacing and the fact that the characters were incredibly two dimensional. There is hardly any relationship or character development because of that. In the first chapter we get thrown into what feels like the middle of the book. After that there are multiple time jumps and the whole book felt more like a summary than a complete novel.

Lots of telling, very little showing. Lots of mentions of things that could potentially create angst and tension but it's never fully explored enough so I was disappointed by that. I feel like that's one of the main things that attract people to a forbidden romance novel. Also don't think it's common for people to need reading glasses at 26? It felt like that was only added to emphasize their age difference.

There were more smaller details and scenes that didn't add up or felt unnecessary so ultimately this and the other points I mentioned earlier greatly affected my rating.

I received this book as an ARC reader.

This sweet, adorable MM romance is a slow burn with all the angst you could want. Forbidden love meets close proximity with a dash of second chance romance. I devoured every moment of Cash and Emmett’s instant chemistry that lasted years of them being apart. I can’t say enough good things about this book. Felicity Snow really brought the sweetness of budding romance and the sticky heat of long denied lust.

“You were the dream I wanted to chase.”

Chasing You, the debut MM novella by Felicity Snow, was wonderful. So much emotion was packed into 10 chapters (plus an epilogue)!

Highlights:
🧡student/teacher
🧡second chance
🧡one bed
🧡forced proximity
🧡pining, so much pining

This novella tells the story of Emmett and Cash, who meet when Cash is a Senior in High School at the school Emmett teaches at. Nothing physical happens when Cash is a student, however, a definite bond is formed between the two. The novella flashes forward 5 years with Cash returning to his hometown after finishing college, ready to pursue his dream of a potential life with Emmett….I’m going to stop there, because I don’t want to give any spoilers. Just know that these guys deserved their HEA and it was beautiful! 🧡🧡

Favorite quote:
“…he shut his eyes tightly as more tears fell. Tears of longing and want. Of guilt and regret, shame and hurt. God, he didn’t know what he was doing anymore. Nothing in his life made sense.” 🥺🥺

Content warning: cheating, emotional and some physical

What a great debut MM romance novella from the author. I was captivated by both Emmett and Cash, and I am craving more from these two wonderful MCs. 😉🧡

Chasing You is the debut novella of Felicity Snow and it was a beautiful story filled with emotion.

I am impressed by the amount of backstory about the two MCs that the author was able to insert into her novella. It made a big difference to be able to dive deeper into the minds of the characters. To feel as if you were reading a full length novel instead of a novella.

There was a ton of pining and questioning in Chasing You. Especially for Emmett who had some heavy decisions to make. I really liked his character arc which brings us back to one essential thing, which is the importance of living your life based on prioritizing your own happiness.

There was so much love between Emmett and Cash, whether they were together or apart. That's one of the things I liked most about Chasing You, that there was so much emotion in such a short story.

Please be aware that there is cheating in this book. It's mostly emotional cheating, but it takes up a lot of space in the story. I found it very delicately addressed by the author and you could tell that Emmett was far from at peace with his thoughts about Cash.

I recommend Chasing You without hesitation. I can't wait to see what Felicity Snow has in store for us next.

What a sweet novella this was, especially for a debut. I freakin' adored Cash and Emmett. I'm a true sucker for not only the student/teacher trope, but mutual pining. I die for mutual pining. This is a relatively light-hearted, quick read that doesn't have tons of angst. It's all about second chances and finally getting the one that nearly got away. And though this is a student/teacher trope, this is completely age appropriate.

Wonderful read!

This one was just ok for me. I was a bit bothered by the student/teacher of it all, which I usually am not. I think because the author kept referring to Emmett's feelings for Cash when he was still in high school it started to feel a little creepy. Nothing happened at that time, the story jumps 5 years, but it still bothered me some. I really did enjoy the characters and their story had potential but it was just too short to get invested enough. The bonus story on the author's website did help, but I just felt like the book needed to be longer for me to really understand their connection.

"As out as one can be, I think. My family knows. My friends know. I'm not saying it's all been sunshine and roses, but along the way I realized it was harder to hide my true self than it was to be honest, especially anytime I found myself interested in a guy. And the person I was really hurting in the end, was me, and it wasn't worth it. If I told people and they couldn't accept it, that was on them. And yeah, it hurt, when the friends or family I thought or hoped would stand by me didn't, but ultimately it was okay in the end because I was my authentic self, and that made me happier than my relationships with them.
"You'll find your tribe, Cash, and it might not be the people you thought it would be. And there will be a grieving period if you lose people, but there are people out there who will love you and support you, too, and you will also find tremendous freedom in living your own life as your truest self with someone that you love."

Emmett sighed. He knew in his mind and his heart that he had the best reason ever for not sharing a bed with Cash, but once again he couldn't tell the other man that. If I share a bed with you, I'm afraid I'll never be satisfied waking up next to Harper again, Cash. That's why.

“Dance with me,” Emmett said. Cash’s cheeks pinked even more as he placed his hand in Emmett’s and they stood, stepping a little ways away from the fire-pit, but still within its warmth. Emmett took Cash into his arms, and they swayed, their cheeks pressed together.
“Thank you,” Cash whispered softly into Emmett’s ear after a moment.
“For what?” Emmett asked, pulling away slightly and looking Cash in the eyes.
“For everything,” Cash said, and he was getting misty-eyed now. “For believing in us. For chasing me. For sharing this with me. I’m honored to be here with you.”
Emmett’s heart felt like it was about to leap out of his chest. “Shit.” He felt his own eyes watering. He gripped Cash’s face in both of his hands and kissed him hard. “You are worth every tear. Every difficult conversation I’ve had to have, every unkind word or disapproving look. I will always chase you. And there is no one I’d rather share this with more than you.” He pressed a kiss to Cash’s nose and they continued to dance.

What a great start as an author for Felicity Snow! This book is wonderful - such an exploration of emotions and vulnerabilities! I loved it!

Cash and Emmett were once teacher and student (separated by only 8 years). Five years later, Cash returns to town to follow the dream he has held of being with the one man he's ever loved only to find him engaged to a woman, Harper. Heartbreak ensues for Cash - while Emmett is struggling with his reemerging attraction to Cash.

I was nervous going into this story knowing that there was a love triangle and cheating possibility as Emmett is engaged to Harper and their wedding is only 3 months away. TW: if you cannot stand cheating of ANY kind, then might be best to avoid this book as there is some emotional cheating (more of an internal struggle) and a tiny, minuscule moment of physical cheating .

Even given my avoidance of cheating in books, I will report that I was pleasantly surprised at how well the love triangle push/pull was handled in this novella. Emmett shares his feelings with the reader freely, so we can easily see how much he is struggling with his returned feelings for Cash vs. his established ones with Harper. The realism of the feelings is what makes this book so strong - it's hard to be angry at Emmett or Cash for their feelings because we can see how genuine they are - and how confused they are by them. They reestablish their friendship first, but no longer in a teacher/student environment, but as peers and equals. That's important to get past the old dynamic and find out who each other is as a potential counterpart for life. These two are a great match!

The story carries on nicely and keeps readers engaged - I wanted to know what was going to happen! I loved certain added details such as the students at school's interpretation of their friendship. Really added value to the story. The only piece I felt was missing was the reaction of Harper about Cash and Emmett - I felt that as a reader we deserved to know her reaction, and she deserved her chance to share it too! I would have liked to see more of the remorse Emmett had to have dealt with during and after that conversation.

A great read, 4/5 stars, and I'll certainly be on the lookout for more from Felicity Snow!

I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Emmett and Cash were such a great couple to start with as a debut novel.

Emmett is a high school teacher, bisexual, handsome and has a problematic crush on Cash.
Cash is a high school senior, gay, handsome and has a problematic crush on Emmett.
What makes their mutual crushes problematic? Emmett is Cash’s teacher, a confidant of sorts and the first person Cash comes out to.
Cash graduates high school and goes off to college. Emmett is both sad and relieved at not seeing Cash’s handsome face every day, but knows it is for the best. 5 years later Emmett is engaged to a woman, still teaching at the high school and happily planning his wedding. After the first day of school, Emmett heads to his favourite coffee shop where he is surprised to see Cash. Even more surprising is that Emmett still seems to have feelings for his former student. When Emmett mentions being engaged, Cash looks devastated, but covers it well.

When Cash shows up at school as a new teacher the following day, Emmett realizes that his life just became very difficult. The two men come to an unspoken agreement to be friends, with their more-than-friends feelings hidden from one another. As they grow closer, Emmett’s wedding grows closer and closer.

Will Emmett choose to marry Harper, his fiancée, or will he and Cash admit to being in love and spend their lives together?

I received a complimentary copy of this book and, as always, my review is unpaid and honest.

I was given an ARC of Chasing You in exchange for my honest review.

Chasing You is the debut novella for Felicity Snow.

Teacher/student? Only One Bed? SIGN ME UP!

Awwww man. All the feels! Felicity Snow's debut novella is PACKED with pinning and longing and tingles. I devoured this book in one sitting (it is quite short after all, being a novella) and I am now very excited to read more! Obviously, knowing the TWs is very important before diving in so please check them out.

Cash was the star for me. I felt so close to him. Such a mature young man. And I loved how his story turned out, how he was able to chase his dreams and go for what he wanted. Emmett... dear Emmett. I can't even imagine being that much emotionally confused. We all knew his choices would have a great impact on the people around him. I particularly liked when the author gave us a little bit of insights into his inner-monologue, because sometimes I wished we were able to dive even more into Emmett and Cash's head.

I haven't read that many cheating trope books but I felt like this one was very well done, by focusing on the MCs' story instead of trying to make us dislike/like the other person in the triangle. Kudos to that here! I loved how Felicity was able to focus on the main couple only and give the side characters just enough attention as to not "bother" the main plotline. It was perfect!

One last thing I loved with this novella is the humour. It was all so well-balanced. Not too much angst and a wonderful HEA. That epilogue was PERFECT. This story was everything I needed and wanted.

Low Angst

Trigger and Content Warnings: Cheating (emotional and mild physical)

SPOILERS (but not really when you consider the summary 😂)
Another lovely short and sweet novella!
I devoured this in less than 2 hours after work and it was a fantastic way to spend the evening.

Cash and Emmett have the sweetest dynamic and great banter - I really wish this book was twice as long to experience more of it. I would have loved to read more about their reconnection and the classic montage/hijinks I am sure occurred during their weeks together at the school. Let me read about alllllll the pining from both sides please! We gotta work for this second chance!

I do appreciate the majority of the story takes place after Cash has graduated and returned as a colleague rather than while he was at school. It made the relationship and endgame feel realistic without the ick sometimes associated with teacher/student introductions.

My only gripe is the wedding day dash which is always so stressful for me, purely because all I can think about is the Friends episode where Ross says the wrong name. Totally a me thing but I always prefer the break up to occur at least a few months out from the wedding so the fallout isn't as chaotic and there is the chance for closure in the epilogue. But that is definitely one of my reading quirks than a slight against Felicity's writing!

All in all a strong first novella from Felicity and I am very excited to see what adventure her next book takes us on!

As this is the first book by this author, I must say that I am pleasantly surprised. It is a sweet story, and despite being short, it is full of emotions.

Emmett and Cash met when Cash was still younger and Emmett his teacher. They were both in love with each other, even though it was something they both hid. Despite the age difference and Cash being a student and Emmett his teacher, they shared a certain friendship, and it was Emmett who advised him to be true to himself and follow his dreams.

Cash left for college, to do exactly as Emmett had advised, but after five years he's back to pursue his most cherished dream, only to find that he's back too late... Or is he still on time?

I loved the story and I knew it was going to be short, but I have to say, I would have liked more. Now, that's not a criticism. It's just that I think that if it had expanded a little more in some parts, it would be a GREAT book. For example:

(Maybe SPOILERS)

- Something about their lives during those 5 years apart, talking about Cash's hard times, and how Emmett decided to marry Harper, (because I don't think it was really out of love, although he did care deeply for her, but because of an unconscious desire of his father's approval)
- Harper's reaction when he finally talks to her. I would have liked to see how he assumed his true feelings in front of her. Etc etc.

Despite that, it is a story that I recommend. It is proof that when someone begins to accept themselves, to dream and pursue those dreams while remaining faithful to their truth, great things happen.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

Chasing You is Felicity Snow’s debut novella. I would never have guessed it was her debut if she hadn’t openly disclosed it on her social media.

O.M.G! I was supposed to be working, but my mind kept going back to Cash and Emmett. Emmett and Cash first meet when Cash is a senior in high school, and Emmett is one of his teachers. Fast forward to Cash moving back to town after graduating from university, and we start getting to the meaty part of the story.

The attraction is still there, but Emmett is engaged to be married to a woman. Felicity does an amazing job of describing the inner turmoil Emmett feels after seeing Cash again after five years. There is so much pining going on for one another. Everything comes to a head when they both chaperone a school field trip and lo and behold, the hotel made a mistake and booked them in a room with just one bed. I’m a sucker for forced proximity and their awareness of each other was everything I could have hoped for. I appreciated the epilogue with a glimpse into their future. Yes, they get a happily ever after. 💞

For being a novella, I became very emotionally invested in Cash and Emmett. I appreciated the depth of the character development. Even the supporting characters like Cash’s parents were fleshed out. Speaking of which, I loved how supportive Cash’s parents were! Once you read the book, you’ll realize how fitting the cover design is too.

I highly recommend giving Chasing You a read once it releases on Valentine’s Day.

This book needed to percolate. Do you know what I mean? I know I liked the story and I really liked Emmett and Cash. Sometimes though, my words just don’t come out easily. Why? Usually it’s when I’m full of emotions about the story. I want to make sure the review says what I feel when I read the story.

Poor Emmett guilted himself silly! As a teacher, there are certain things you don’t do, having a crush on a student is thing number one. These feelings were so difficult for him because they were taboo from the get and I don’t think Emmett really understood how to deal with them in a healthy manner given his own upbringing. Fast forward a few years, his crush is back and working with him, but Emmett’s now engaged to a woman named Harper. He has feelings for someone other than his fiancée and yet he never acts on them, and he never voices them to Cash. He tries to move forward but how can he when he knows that his heart is once again beating for Cash? Will he walk down aisle toward Harper or will he run toward the only person he’s ever really loved?

There’s so much emotion to this book. The constant pull of live, shame and guilt that Emmett felt. His inability to make a decision for his own happiness rather than the happiness of others. The bravery that it took for Cash to step up and point blank say I love you, choose me, love me. Wow! This is Felicity Snow’s debut novella. It leaves me looking forward to what she will write next. Oh and she left me even more eager to go back to Washington DC to see how much the city has changed since I lived there. 😊
