Hello #6

Hello Heartbreaker

Rate this book
The first time I see the love of my life since he broke my heart, I’m holding a pair of hair clippers. Bad idea.

His butchered haircut wasn’t entirely my fault, but now I’m questioning my decision to move back to my small hometown.

After years of working in the city and getting nowhere, I was given the opportunity of a lifetime, a chance to buy my own salon. All I have to do is prove to the current owner that I'm committed to the salon and Cottonwood Falls. Also located in Cottonwood Falls? Rhett Griffen, the one who broke my heart beyond repair all those years ago.

Rhett is hot as sin, and he knows it. Unfortunately, so does every other female in town. And while I was reeling from our breakup and working on my career, he was having the time of his life and not spending a second thinking about me.

But it’s been over a decade since then. I won’t let the playboy who turned my heart to stone be the one who keeps my dreams from coming true.

Even if he looks better than he did all those years ago.

Even if he’s determined to make it up to me and coaches his niece’s little league team like he has a secret heart of gold.

So I'll focus on my career and stay away from my first love, because second chances are only for the people who don't remember how much it hurt the first time around.

Hello Heartbreaker is a second chance romance with a reformed player, a determined curvy heroine, and enough spice to fill the whole cabinet ;).

My favorite stories are the ones that make you laugh, cry, and feel. In all of my books, you’ll find amazing curvy women, heartwarming moments, and plenty of laughter.

I currently live in Colorado where I watch way too many rom coms, chase my three boys up the mountains (huffing and puffing), and write books for lovely readers like you.

This is Rhett’s story; brother to Liv (Hello Doctor), Gage (Hello Billionaire) and Tyler (Confessions of the Funny Fat Friend) from previous books that you don’t need to read to follow along.

First, it must be stated because I feel like this book really brushes this off like it wasn’t a big deal; the reason Maggie was devastated at the break-up. Maggie just graduated high school (18) with plans to go to cosmetology school and Rhett, not sure what his plans were tbh, was 20 years old and proposed to Maggie with plans to follow her wherever she wanted to go for their future; Maggie decline his proposal because she was unsure it was the right thing for them to do and she needed time to think. Rhett is so distraught by Maggie’s answer he goes and fucks another girl in his house, which is where Maggie catches him when she decided to tell him that she changed her mind and wanted to marry him. So Rhett cheated on Maggie within an hour after saying he wanted to spend his life her.

So fast forward 14 years later and Maggie is back in town with her bestie, Cam, and suddenly everyone wants her to take Rhett back because he has changed. He honestly came into her salon to get a haircut on her first day with the intent of winning her back and let’s just say she wasn’t open to it.

Unfortunately, the book goes downhill right from the start and she’s already falling over herself to get to him by like chapter 5 and they are dating by chapter 8. Then there’s this whole back and forth whether she forgives/believes in Rhett for the entire book. Maggie has issues because her mother abandoned her and then there’s just so much going on including with her bestie, Cam.

Honestly, the drama and some things I considered a bit cruel felt endless, but I just couldn’t handle the repetitiveness and the fact that everyone made it seem like Rhett was the victim; don’t get me wrong I was not a fan of Maggie either, but why was she constantly apologizing when he didn’t once, he said he felt bad and had been waiting for her, but I don’t recall an actual apology.

Then the money for the salon, money for her dad’s house and the money for the land; it’s like they created a new problem every four chapters.

I understand wanting to earn something yourself, but driving yourself into the ground or losing your one true love seems kind of like big sacrifices when you can just take the gift that is ALREADY yours from your grandfather or your brother; I'm looking at you Rhett.

ARC Review

I personally love when an author makes you want to shake some sense into one of their characters, haha. I was very excited to read about Rhett and Maggie because Rhett has always added some extra giggles in the previous Hello books with his charm and potty mouth. I wasn't disappointed!

There are some very swoon-worthy moments and some good laughs. The heart that these books have, is just amazing. I want to live in Cottonwood Falls and go to the salon, the diner, and the rodeos. I read them so slowly just to enjoy the world.

If you read the previous books, you can definitely see the changes/growth Rhett has made over time. In this book he really puts his money where his mouth is. But it's all without losing his charm and him really showcasing his love for Maggie. I loved it!

Our girl Maggie here is lovely. But boy can she hold a grudge. I can't say how I'd be in their situation, but over time I definitely wanted to shake some sense into her. She is dedicated, hardworking, and definitely loving. It was great to watch her open up and walk a more forgiving path with Rhett.

A lot happens in this book, but it all flows pretty well. Another great read from Kelsie Hoss overall. I'm so excited to read about Knox when his book comes out next!

Both mcs are pretty annoying, I kept chanting “go to therapy” throughout most of the book. Still, some parts were quite sweet. But the whole bs about twin flames? I’m surprised I didn’t dnf the book the first time it was mentioned..

Holy hotness! I received a advance copy of this book and I was so excited to read it. It hit my email at 2pm and by 12:30 am I had finished the book! It was such a quick and oh so good read.

Reading Rhett changing his ways to be the man that Mags needed/wanted was so heartwarming. They had a history and he was determined to not let it repeat itself. He was a charmer, and you could feel the love he had always had for Maggie.

Maggie had her reservations with the one who broke her heart but in the end she got the happily ever after that she deserved.

Another fantastic read by Kelsie Hoss! I couldn't put it down!

This was a rough read. I really wanted to like it and had liked Rhett in the other books. Maggie was awful, doubting and judgmental at every turn, the plot got super repetitive and kept having something happen and then resolve it every couple chapters. I have the next book on my TBR but honestly, I’m kinda over it.

I was curious about how Rhett's Happily Ever After would come to pass, especially considering the constant mention of his playboy ways in the previous books.

The plot made sense, although Magnolia (and her dad) irritated me a couple of times. I'm not saying she was wrong about her feelings; it just seemed to take her a bit too long for some self-reflection.

This book had a lot of ups and downs, pulled at your heartstrings, but also made you warm and fuzzy. I did not like that the MFC complained about the past ALOT! I understand where the MFC is coming from however it seemed redundant and to hard on the MMC.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was lucky enough to get and advance copy and for that I’m really grateful. I loved this book just like I do the other two books, Rhett and Magnolia started as teenager sweethearts then heartbreak made them part,
14yrs later Magnolia is back in cottonwood falls to take over and further her career as a hair stylist etc and Rhett turns up and gets slightly maimed by her as she’s still so cut up over what happened 14yrs ago, Rhett tells her he’s a changed man and wants a second and last chance to prove that to her but she can’t let go just yet, I love that existing characters from other books make there presence to throughout the book Kelsie is a great author and I would highly recommend 🥰

When I'm not sure whether to give the book a try after reading the summary, I look down to the comments and see if the majority of people loved it. I'll read the 5 and 4 star reviews and see if anything will intrigue me enough to read the book. This time, the first review was a one star and a spoiler warning - I gave in and decided this one isn't for me.

I can get behind second chance romance but not when the first time around ended because of one person cheating on the other. I don't want them to have a HEA.

However, after reading a longer one star review that told me what happened to end that relationship, I was curious to read that particular scene. I thought it will be a flashback in a prologue kind of beginning or a detailed description from at least one of the characters. Instead, it was a sentence in chapter 8, I think. I couldn't go further than chapter 11.

Maybe if I were a different person myself, one who could somehow forgive a cheater or someone who thinks a relationship can go on after infidelity. I'm not, I'm an absolute hater of cheating and antisupporter of people who remain together after one cheats on the other. This book was just ridiculous and I can say that about the whole book having read only one fifth of it. With how many chapters there were, you'd think it will go slower, there will be hate and groveling, etc. Instead, they see each other after fourteen years in the first chapter, go out in the third/fourth, in the ninth or tenth there's a scene I would think happens in a cliche teen flick, and the whole time, everyone acts as if the cheater never did anything wrong.

It seems many people know what Rhett was unfaithful and everyone knows he playboyed it hard (I made it a verb). He himself is brave to say "I fucked many women, Mags, but only made love to you". I gall of him to use those words in a conversation about his infidelity and Maggie telling him how hurt she is and reluctant to give it another try. But maybe he realizes what every reader of this book does - Maggie may very well have split personalities.

[a long speech about hurting and never wanting to be with him again]...“It’s been so long. I don’t want to go back there. I don’t want to hurt like that again.”

He reached across the table, holding my hand. “Please,” he breathed.

And that word, his touch, was my undoing. I looked into his hazel eyes, unable to look away. “Okay.”

Yeah, okay, I suddenly feel 180 degrees different, Rhett. What was I mad about again? - I imagine this is what Mags thought to herself it that moment.

So, the heroine did that, the hero is barely sorry for what he did then and he obviously loved Maggie very much because "a week ago he would have shown a good time go any girl but now, only Mags". I mean, if that doesn't say he's been pining for you for over a decade and will never cheat again, maybe his pushing you to move quicker with him will. Why are you walking away from him after a dance, Magnolia? He's telling you you're his future so... Copy and paste 'a week ago he would have shown a good time go any girl'. Marry him, Magnolia, quick.

Worst even, her best friend seems to be rooting for Rhett, phoning him from Maggie's mobile and squealing when they made a plan to go on a date. It has been fourteen years but I have a feeling dear Camryn would wave a hand at his cheating after a couple months and cheer for her bestie to give him another chance. And Rhett's friend deducts he has it bad for Maggie because Rhett said no thanks to one woman who asked him for a dance and *wink* *wink*. What else would say he's madly in love than choosing not to sleep with A woman?!

I gave this book a chance when I knew I shouldn't have so joke's on me. I won't even try to figure out whether it was a Ross and Rachel "we were on a break" type of situation because I know it wasn't. You don't propose marriage to the person you say you love and then go fuck someone else because you're heartbroken she said no (mind you she just finished high school and he was basically just trying to hang onto her because he had no direction in life, as if he couldn't follow her without a ring on her finger). I will never give this book a second chance and I don't know what Kelsie Hoss thought and felt when she wrote it but I'm sure our opinions on these things are capital D different.

This story didn't work for me. I didnt care for the Mag character, I understand being hurt and anger but she took it to far. I felt Rhett deserved better. I think Cams assessment of Mag was right on point even though it was expressed in anger. This story was a little boring for me. I kept expecting something exciting to happen.

I rarely get frustrated with a book but Maggie had me so angry for so much of the book. A lot of her words and behavior would have been expected by someone younger. More naive. But a 30ish, independent business owner has to have more sense than this to be able to operate.

There’s a point in the book when *something else* goes wrong and I thought “DEAR GOD MAKE IT STOP”. Like, can we just stop with the obstacles? There’s no shame in ending the book at 300 pages versus 400.

Oh, and the idea that she would go to someone other than Rhett for help and he would just laugh it off was super unbelievable. I cannot come up with a scenario where I tell my partner I don’t want their help but then go to someone in their circle BEHIND THEIR BACK and then pat myself on the back for being brave enough to ask for help. And they’re totally ok with it. Just no.

I could have overlooked all of the bad and given it 2⭐️ if it weren’t for the problems with continuity. On more than one occasion, we’re given conflicting information just a paragraph or two away. Made it hard for me to read because I kept flipping back to verify what I was reading. If that kind of stuff doesn’t bother you, then you’ll eat this book up.

I also can’t help but feel from the first book it just continues to get repetitive. Like I’m just reading the same thing over and over again just with different names.

Maggie was one of the worst heroines I've ever read in a book. I loathed her. She had no redeeming qualities for 90% of the book. She grows a pair at the end of the book, but by then, I was over her. She didn't want to give Rhett the benefit of the doubt for quite a while and kept comparing his currently honorable actions with those of a 15 years old barely adult Rhett. He did nothing but prove himself over and over again. Her best friend was right, she needed to grow up. So glad to be done with this book.

Such a wonderful book, absolutely loved it! All of the Hello series books are amazing, all characters so well written, lots of humour, the romance is swoon worthy, the right amount of spice.
Although some of the reviewers haven't liked this book due to cheating....well, all is not as it seems dear readers, so you should read the whole book before judging it!
Highly recommended

2.5 stars; I had to push through to finish this book. I couldn’t connect with this couple and it seemed very juvenile they way they behaved. The story didn’t have much substance and I could t stay interested in it. Just not my fav by this author.

It felt like it was unnecessarily long and a lot of drama but quickly resolved.

*ARC Review* Release Date 10/27

Third in the "Hello" series, we return to the town of Cottonwood Falls and the Griffen Family. This time for Rhett's Story. Small Town Life. Big City Problems.

Rhett Griffen is a hot, happy go lucky, roll with the punches, always up for a good time Bull Riding Rancher with a hot head attitude and a stubborn, independent streak a mile wide.

Magnolia "Maggie" Gibson is a plus size hairstylist. Guarded. Kind of lost & unsure. The one that got away. The one that haunts his dreams...

High School Sweethearts with a long life ahead of them, when one little word ("No") changes everything...

14 years have passed & Maggie finds herself returning to her hometown in hopes of completing a dream of hers in owning her very own salon. Faced with Rhett all these years later, old feelings resurface and not the sunshine and roses kind. Hurt, Anger, Betrayal. You name it, she feels it, and Rhett is determined to get one more chance with her.

It starts a little slow. Maggie pushes back at every turn. Unforgiving and unable to fully trust that Rhett has truly changed.

Rhett has lived with so much regret and spent years just trying to survive without her. A lot of women & good times... trying to chase away the shame and the memories that are Maggie. Only problem? There's only ONE Maggie and a health scare forces him to realize he needs to change his ways and become a better man and sets his sites on making things right with Mags.

Their chemistry wasn't as explosive as I hoped it would be. As it should have been, based on Rhett's personality in the other books in this series. But it was sweet. I was hoping Maggie would have been a little more feisty, but she seemed extremely unsure of herself, extremely jealous and could hold a grudge like no other. Yes, she had her reasons, but eventually enough is enough. Kids make dumb decisions and dumb decisions were made on both of their parts. Adults learn from it and grow, but part of me wonders why Maggie was so stuck in the past unwilling to move on.

I expected a little more from Rhett's story. He had a desperation to him that I wasn't expecting. Not so much a vulnerability but a desperation that if Maggie couldn't forgive him then his life was over. He deserved better.

Ultimately, through more trials and tribulations these two found their happily ever after. I love how Maggie found her confidence through loving & letting go of old hurts. I love how Rhett never let her feel less than beautiful. Less than his everything. And what was stored in his garage? Perfection... 🥰

I love how Kelsie portrays plus sized women in her books. Yes, we all have that vulnerability, but we too are fierce and fabulous 😉💋 I'm looking forward to Knox's story next.

Oy! Spoilers ahead!!

Ok so the story was good. Kelsie’s writing is superb as always. I just had issues with the characters.

Rhett was a bit of a manipulative gaslighter. I didn’t like how he forced her hand. Either be with me the way I want right now or we cannot go any further. She was entitled to her feelings. It wasn’t like he called her a nasty name. He slept with another woman after she freaked about his marriage proposal. She lost her mother the year before and had a panic attack. His response was to immediately grab another woman, sleep with her all night and answer the door to Mags while half naked with the other woman standing behind him holding a sheet over her naked body. I don’t care that it was years before. You cannot get over that kind of hurt especially when your own mom walked out on your family. Sorry, I just wasn’t feeling him. I didn’t see how he was doing better and being more mature when he basically pulled the same stunt to her when she didn’t want to go to his weekly family dinner. It felt like she was forced into it when she clearly wasn’t ready.

Mags was a pushover. She had just told Rhett that she was afraid of being hurt again so she didn’t want to give him a second chance but bowed down because he looked at her and said PLEASE. Girl, what?! She rolled over for everyone except her dad. Don’t get me started on her friend Cam. Where was the loyalty? I’m sorry, but her hurtful comments were unnecessary and judgmental. Mags didn’t judge her for jumping into bed with someone and getting knocked up. Then when she made decisions that concerned Mags without talking with her she insulted her versus owning her selfishness. Yes, she was pregnant and scared but Mags deserved better. She also never apologized for her hurtful words. Ugh. I could never trust Rhett again because at the first sign of trouble he slept with another woman and was still dealing with that woman years later. How could I ever believe that you would be faithful?

The story was great. I know I’ve fussed during this review but that’s how you know a story is good. Y’all, I felt real emotion reading this story. Read it. You will love it. I appear to be in the minority with my feelings, but I stand by them. Mags deserved so much better.

Magnolia “Maggie” Gibson is back in her small town of Cottonwood Falls. She wants to buy the salon, but she has to show the owner that she’s capable of running it on her own. The problem is that her ex, who broke her heart years ago, is in town, and he can’t stay away from her.

Rhett Griffen is a playboy, and everyone knows it. But when he sees Maggie again, he just wants a second chance with her. He tries his best to prove to her that he’s no longer the POS he was when they were younger, but it’s hard when everyone talks about how he always has another woman in his bed.

I probably should have realized that the reason he broke Maggie’s heart was because he cheated. His reason was stupid. And Maggie refused to give in for a very short time, then it seemed like she instantly forgave him. But when she’d hear other women talking about him, then she’d go back to pushing him away. She was indecisive and kept going back and forth. Personally, I felt like Rhett needed to do more groveling BEFORE Maggie forgave him. I don’t know what it was, but I couldn’t connect with these characters at all.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy second chance romance. But the initial break up has to be for a good reason. And if Maggie hadn’t been so back and forth over whether to forgive Rhett and/or trust him, then I wouldn’t have been so irritated with her. .

About the Book:
Magnolia + Rhett were high school sweethearts and right before graduation, he proposed to her, but she said no because she wasn’t ready. She went back to him later that day to tell him she changed her mind, but unfortunately he was drowning in his sorrows in the worst way possible. 14 years later, Magnolia returns home to her small town where she can’t help but run into Rhett. Neither of them have truly moved on from one another, but Magnolia is so afraid to fall for Rhett once again and get her heart broken. But Rhett is determined to do EVERYTHING + ANYTHING to make her give him one more chance.

What I Loved:
OH. MY. GOD. Kelsie killed it with this book! ❤️‍🔥

Wow! Talk about all the freaking emotions brought out from reading their story. 😍

I loved this second chance romance. Rhett literally worshipped the ground Magnolia walked on. He was so determined to make it up to her all those years ago and try to convince her to give him a second chance.

Magnolia was so heartbroken the first time that she was so scared. I could feel the emotions she was going through and ugh! It was so beautiful to see it all. 🥹

And when they finally get together? HOT DAMN 🔥 Rhett with his dirty mouth and all those spicy scenes, I was here for it!

If you love a second chance romance with a dirty talking + groveling hero, you NEED to read this! 🔥

Kelsie Hoss has brought us another fantastic story! 🤗

📚While Hello Heartbreaker can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the Confessions books first, followed by the first two Hello books! You get all of the background information and get to know Rhett! I have been so looking forward to his story! 🤠

While I can usually relate to Kelsie's FMCs, in this book, I mostly felt connected to Rhett. I absolutely love his character and would choose him as a friend any day of the week! 💙 Maggie is great, but I did have trouble reading some of her chapters because I couldn't relate to the things she struggles with.

✒️Kelsie writes her background characters in a way that draws you in and makes you hope that they all get their own book!

Favorite Quotes:

“I couldn’t change it,” he said. “Not when I was hoping you’d call.”
💗“You know how Livvy and Mags have bigger bodies, but Tessa’s mom is skinny? Or how your daddy is tall and Mindy’s dad is short?” She nodded. “They’re all different. Not better.”
🚫"You can’t take you away from me.”

Thank you so much to Kelsie Hoss for allowing me to read an ARC of this book! 📖

Kelsie has a way of writing stories that are so heartwarming yet tug at our heartstrings just the same. Hello Heartbreaker is no exception. This is the third installment in this series and just when I think I have a new favorite, the next story blows it out of the park!

Rhett and Maggie’s past was rocky to say the least. When Maggie, fresh out of high school says no to Rhett’s marriage proposal, he does the unthinkable. When the shock wears off and she returns to him to say yes, she is met by him and another woman. Regret immediately sets in with Rhett and Maggie is left hurt and angry.

Fifteen years later, they are brought together living in the same small town that they had grown up in. They both have grown older but have they truly grown and learned from their mistakes? Can Maggie learn to forgive and let go of the grudges that hold her in place?

This story will have you laughing, crying, holding your breath and rooting for the second chance love that these characters are given. I am absolutely loving the group of characters within this Hello series. Kelsie puts her heart and soul in to writing these books and it is truly apparent with every book I read. I can’t wait for Hello Tease!

Another amazing book by Kelsie Hoss. Before reading this one, I highly recommend you read the other two in this series even though this can be read as a stand-alone. I think I have wanted Rhett's book the most, and it did not disappoint. Here are just a few of my highlights that do not contain spoilers.

“I don’t understand you early birds, but my inner night owl salutes you.”

Rhonda turned and stared at me like I’d kicked a kitten. “Language, dear.”

“If you want to ch*ke me, you need to buy me dinner first,”

This girl was going to rule the world or burn it down one day; there was no in-between.

“You, me, dinner? That math equals date.”

“I’m kidnapped. I think I have time for the villain’s monologue.”

“You know, fear is just excitement’s ugly cousin.”

“You got a three-legged dog and named her Eileen.”

I love these two and I can't wait for the next book because Hello, more of these men falling head over heels for a plus sized FMC and more of the previous couples that you just can't get enough of. I highly recommend this book as well as the rest of the series.

I received this ARC for this book and OH MYLANTA my heart! This is the third installment of the Hello series. It follows Rhett and Magnolia. They were high school sweethearts but a mistake made by Rhett they haven't spoken to each other in 15 years. When Magnolia "Mags" returns home to Cottonwood Falls to buy Rhonda's salon and one of her first clients is none other than Rhett. This is definitely a story of learning forgiveness. Magnolia forgiving the people that hurt her on her terms and her not running away when people make mistakes. This story had me laughing, fanning myself, and crying through all of it. I love how the author has a message to the readers intertwined into the story. It definitely made me want to call my mother (if you know you know). The side story of Cam and Cooper was sweet. Everything will work out in the end if you just believe and trust in your heart. I would love to know more about Agatha and Gray...silver fox yes please!! I definitely feel at home in Cottonwood Falls and can not wait to return!

Rhett and Magnolia’s story is so beautiful.

Rhett made the biggest mistake of his life and lost the one woman he truly loved. Upon hearing that she is back after all these years, Rhett makes it his mission to win Magnolia’s heart once again. Her insecurities and fears of the past repeating itself does not make it easy for him to prove to Mags that he is a better man than the Rhett she once knew.

When Magnolia returns to Cottonwood Falls she wonders if/when she’ll see Rhett, the one who broke her heart years ago. When she does it is at the town salon, one she hopes to soon own. It's her first day, he is her first client and she purposefully botches his haircut.

They do in fact rekindle their love and the spice throughout!?!? Whew!! Hot, hot, hot! But, when her world crumbles into itself Mags is in fight or flight mode. Torn between her dreams, her family, and her love, she must find a way to hold onto them all.

If you enjoy second chance romance, curvy heroines, spice and laughter you’re sure to enjoy this book!

Kelsie for the win! #HelloHeartbreaker💔

Another great addition to the Hello Series. I love how Kelsie does the curvy girl representation in this series.

Rhett and Mags 🥰🥰 - High school loves who let miscommunication and a mistake break them apart. I love how she didn’t let him off the hook so easy. She made him work for her and prove to her she’s worth it. The personal growth in Mags and Rhett was good to see.

Small Town, Best Friends to Lovers 🥰🥰 - I’m a sucker for small town, best friends to lovers, second chance and a loving family. The relationships with the side characters were fun to see and eye opening in some parts.

Finally I get to picture ME in these books 🥰🥰 - The Curvy Girl representation is awesome. I love being able to connect with these FMCs. I love being able to see me in these beautiful love stories.

Hello Kelsie, you knocked it out of the park again. Hoping for a Latin Curvy Girl up next (hehehe)!

Rhett and Maggie were high school sweethearts. Rhett proposed and Maggie scared said no. Rhett was devastated and thought they were over and sought comfort in another woman meanwhile Maggie returned to say yes and caught them. Devastated she left town with her best friend. Years later she returns to town planning to buy the local hair salon. Neither one of them has gotten over the other. But Maggie does not forgive easily not her mother for leaving or Rhett for breaking her heart and his ladies man reputation doesn’t help. He sets out to prove to her he’s a different person. But there are a lot of obstacles thrown at this couple & I mean a lot. But the main obstacle is Maggie herself. Can she learn to forgive not only Rhett but others in her life and move on from the past. I really loved Rhett he tries so hard but I had to admit I got frustrated with Maggie a lot. But I loved their story.
