Dr. Intern

Rate this book
As a surgical intern, my life is a relentless cycle of work and more work.

If I lose focus, even for one second, my career could be on the line.

So when my living situation unexpectedly changes, the last thing I need is the distraction of house hunting.

Which is why I don't hesitate to say yes when my best friend and esteemed surgeon, Dr. Parker Winters, comes to my rescue with an offer I can't refuse: A room in his luxurious penthouse, free of charge.

The only condition? Keep an eye on his little sister.

It sounds straightforward until I discover my new roommate is none other than the woman who's been haunting my thoughts since I first met her. The one who never called me back and is now utterly off-limits.

In the fiercely competitive field of orthopedics, I've learned to fight for what I want. But what if what I want most is the one thing I should avoid at all costs – my best friend’s sister?

Dr. Intern is the second book in the Midtown Memorial series following the staff/friends at an Atlanta hospital.

Beau is an orthopedic surgery intern and the best friend of Parker, the hero from Dr. Resident. Claire is Parker's sister. In Dr. Resident, we learned that Claire's mother had cancer, which led to her death early on in this book. Claire was her caregiver in the end stages so her mother's death hit her the hardest. Prior to this, Claire and Beau had a one night stand and don't see or realize who the other is until the funeral. Claire is spiraling, and Beau needs a place to stay so Parker asks him to move into the spare room in his old condo to keep an eye on Claire. Of course, this only leads them to dancing around their chemistry until they pick up where their one night stand left off.

This author's books feel like Grey's Anatomy, in that the sex and light drama is fun to read. The friend group is supportive of each other, but also the author uses her background as a nurse to ensure that the hospital setting and the characters' jobs feel realistic. I'm a sucker for an author doing their research!

I will say I wanted to throw my Kindle across the room with the way the book ended because I flipped the page expecting more, but it is clearly a cliffhanger and reintroduction to an old character that we won't learn more about until the next book!

TROPES: medical romance, surgeon hero, roommates/forced proximity, brother's best friend, Atlanta-based, one night stand

Firstly, the difference in the first and second of these books is WILD. Secondly, I loved this. Solid 4.5 ⭐️ from me!

This story follows Beau (the med student from book 1) and Claire (Parker’s sister). They meet one night and hook up not knowing who each other are. They see each other again months later — long story short, they end up roommates and we all know what happens then, don’t we?

Ok I loves this for a lot of reasons. Mainly because I’m so proud of Lexie and the story she wrote. It was emotional, romantic AF, and the characters were SO relatable it’s not even funny. I don’t think I’ve ever read a character that I’ve gone “yup, I am her and she is me” the way I did with Claire. Kudos, Lexie cos she was amazing. So was Beau, though. An “ortho bro” but so kind, caring and thoughtful. He communicated!!!!!! and always put Claire first. He never made her feel like a hassle or a drama and I loved that so much. They were absolute dynamite together. Despite the slow burn of this book, it was worth the wait because of the chemistry and genuine relationship they built.

I loved this a lot, and Im definitely excited to read the next one in the series! Walker intrigues me so I’ll happily stay in LexieLand!

PS - Parker, you’re still on my shit list.

When it comes to medical romances, I am PICKY. It's a very love/hate relationship. I work in Medicine so I love to see characters in that field and how it's portrayed in fiction (when done right). If portrayed inaccurately though, I just end up frustrated and it tends to ruin the whole story for me.

With this book, I discovered the key ingredient to getting it right: having an author that has worked in healthcare. Looking past the story for a moment (even though it was beyond great in itself), the portrayal and representation of healthcare workers in fiction was enough to read this book alone. It was spot on. Yes, we have lives beyond our job, but it would be a lie to not acknowledge that our careers can be a huge part of our lives for most of us.

Now onto the rest of my review because I could wax and wan about representation in Medicine for way too long. I loved everything about this story! I love how we explored more of Claire's family and got more information that I really wanted after reading the first novel. In fact, I loved how much background and development we got for ALL of the characters. It made all the difference and has me truly invested in each of their stories. Lexie, feel free to write a novel for each of them because I will eat them ALLLLL up.

The pièce de résistance was definitely, unsurprisingly, the romance between Beau and Claire. They both are such lovable characters on their own that you cannot help but root for them to end up together from the beginning. Their relationship and the development was absolutely perfect and the pacing was so well timed. There was not a moment where I thought the relationship was too rushed and alternatively, I also never got bored of them. Seriously. I could keep reading about these two for a lifetime.

This was such an enjoyable and fun read while it also captured some pretty intense emotions surrounding grief and loss. I can't wait to read more from this world and these characters.

I was ecstatic to meet bad boy Beau after he made his appearance in Dr. Resident, and lemme tell you—it was MY pleasure 😂

Who doesn’t love a good roommates to lovers?! Or a book that reminds you of your real boyfriend 👀 Fr though, the similarities between Beau and my bf were sendingggg me

✅ 6’4”
✅ southern accent
✅ loves beef jerky & writing me notes
✅ met on a dating app

And a Love Island reference?!!! I literally would have finished this book sooner if I wasn’t so busy tuning in every night 🫣 (sorry Lexie for getting you hooked on this season… except I’m not sorry 😘)

I cannot WAIT to meet Dr. Walker and learn more about Morgan, esp because she reminds me of the bestie we all need in our lives :,))

Ps- Did you know anytime you purchase one of Lexie’s books, it goes towards her research for her future books? Iykyk 😏

If you’re looking for a cute, steamy read with Grey’s anatomy vibes, this is it.

This started good and fast paced but then sizzled out to be a slow burn. I liked all the characters but sometimes felt a little lost having not read the first book.

The communication between the MCs in this book was great. The book also gave real insight into what working in the medical field is like.

I felt like the overall “plot” fell flat and was too exaggerated throughout the book. I did find myself bored at the halfway mark.

Thank you to Lexie Woods for an ARC of her second book. I utterly adored her first book & loved this one too! Her writing style is just so relatable & engaging to me. She must be right about my age because her social media references are spot on with mine so it feels like inside jokes with a friend. This one was a bit more of a slow burn but when the 🌶️ hit, it hit! There were many twists & turns I didn’t see coming plus the dirty talk from Beau 🥵 That man!! His insistence on her taking lead in her own pleasure was 🎯 & his patience & gentle love of her from the start were endearing.

Overall an excellent read if you live medical books, romance, spice, medical themed smut 😏 & sexy banter. Add in brother’s best friend & “touch her & die” tropes & this one is a winner!!

Let me just start off by saying this….if you name your FMC Claire you’re gonna get extra points from me. Some might say that’s an unfair bias. I DON’T CARE. I LOVE FEELING LIKE THE WORLD REVOLVES AROUND ME. I’M A SAGITTARIUS.

I just love when I read the second book an author has ever written and it completely blows me away. Dr. Intern did that. This book kept me up far too late and coming back for more throughout the whole story.

I absolutely fell in love with Claire and Beau. Their connection, their banter, their spice, their communication. Their relationship and journey to be together was absolutely beautiful and I loved every second of it. Reading how Claire navigated her loss while also finding herself I related to SO deeply. And while I don’t have diabetes, Beau’s feeling of inadequacy and not wanting special treatment resonated with me was well. Getting more of Parker, Cassidy and Morgan made the whole book and everyones relationship feel so well rounded.

As an avid Grey’s Anatomy watcher and a full time medical assistant IRL this book had me laughing out loud, kicking my feet, and blushing.
Also, a FMC who survives off of diet coke is a girl after my own heart.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A huge shout out to Lexie Woods for this one, thank you so much for allowing me this ARC to review. I will 10000% be waiting with bated breath for Dr. Fellow coming in the fall.
The scene at the end??? I am dying to know what happens next. Will Dr. Fellow be a redemption novel?!

All I am going to say, I love all of Beau's nicknames but my favorite has to be Bondage Beau. And let me tell you it's a nickname that he truly lives up to...

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 --> rounded up to 5⭐️

Dr. Beau Buffington is a surgical intern at Midtown Memorial who lives, eat and breathes medicine. When he finds himself homeless, his best friend and fellow surgical attending Dr. Parker Winters offers him to stay at his old condo. The only catch is, Parker asks him to keep an eye on his little sister. Sounds easy right? That is until Beau discovers that his new roommate is Claire, the woman he took home one night and can't stop thinking about. Claire is off-limits and he should avoid her at all costs. But what happens when they give into their temptations? Will Parker accept their relationship?

💭 My Thoughts: I am going to honest with you, as a nurse, I stay clear of ALL medical romances. I just find it hard to read something that I live on a daily basis and have it not represented accurately. With that being said, I LOVE Lexie's books! What I love most? She's a fellow RN and writes REALISTIC medical romances. Not only is the medicine real, but so are a lot of the scenarios that these physicians find themselves is. So if you want a peak into what hospital life is like, do yourself a favor and read one of Lexie's books!

Now that we got that out of the way, let's talk about Dr. Intern. Now I loved Parker in Dr. Resident. He is such a grumpy a-hole but that's what I loved most and I didn't know if he could be topped. But then Lexie said, hold my margarita and let me give you Beau Buffington! Beau definitely gave Parker a run for his money. Beau couldn't be anymore different than Parker but that's why I loved him! Beau is such a southern gentleman but don't let that fool you, he lives up to all of his nicknames. This man will bring you home a kitten as a peace offering and then strip you naked and tie you up while at a party. The mouth on this man 🥵🥵🥵

Now let's talk about Claire. I loved Claire! Claire is so authentically herself. Some may categorize her as too much but that's why we love her. She drives her big brother Parker crazy but that's what Beau loves most about her. But Claire is suffering from grief in this book. After recently loosing her mom, she can't seem to get back to her old self until Beau re-enters her life as her new roommate. This man was gentle with her. Helping her through her grief and then helping her explore her new found sexual freedom, this man was PERFECT for her!

As a nurse and someone who is part of the dead parents club, I just want to say I feel like Lexie did an amazing job at showcasing the many different stages of grief and what it is like to live with a chronic illness. I love to see these elements represented in books accurately. It's refreshing to see.

So do I recommend Dr. Intern? Yes! Listen if you read ANY medical romances, please do yourself a favor and read the Midtown Memorial series by Lexie Woods. It is the most accurate work of fiction I have read. Not only does she accurately portray medicine but she also adds her nurse humor, which if you have a nurse in your life, you know we have a dark sense of humor. Also she likes her BD$M k!nk which I am here for!

This is the spicy asf greys anatomy we all wanted! Lexie hit the right vein with Beau and Claire. Their chemistry is off the charts right from the beginning.

They happen to meet on a dating app, decide what the hell, lets meet up and see if this plays out well in real life. Once they get to talking or basically bantering back and forth, Beau actually thinks with his big brain instead of his "little" brain, just kidding, kinda. He thinks this woman is going to be making me fall to my knees and worship at her feet in more ways than one.

It gets cut short before they get to bang it out. Then everything comes crumbling down for both of them.

Claire and her family go through a tragedy. She's left wondering where does she take her life from here if she isn't taking care of someone else?

Beau, the hot orthopedic resident, living his dreams each day to become his most successful self all while dealing with his diabetes, then his parents decide to sell the place hes staying, hes left looking for a place to rent, in comes his best friend, Parker, who offers him a place but theres more to it, hes not sure if he can control himself for very long.

Will they realize how much more life has to offer while falling into bed with each other?

I will say it's best to read this series in order, but i didn't realize that until i was already finished, oops. But there wasn't much confusion with the other back stories.

This book had me smiling, teary, giggling and fanning my face. I loved Beau and Claire instantly, right from the moment she skipped towards him in a bar, to the friendship they built, their banter and verbal sparring, the mutual pining, the handwritten notes and the open and honest communication between them. I was not prepared for the slow burn of this but the way it was built up kept me completely hooked. And once that spice hit? It was 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐮𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐂𝐘!

𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: medical romance, brothers best friend, roommates, chronic illness rep, he falls first, one night stand, secret relationship, no third act breakup.

Claire is strong, witty and resilient. I could totally relate to her sarcastic way of dealing with situations and her overall chaotic personality. She was going through so much and my heart ached for her, the way she never felt like she fit, never felt like enough and then there was her grief. It was palpable through the pages and was handled so beautifully, it had me teary.

But then there’s Beau. He was the perfect combination of McDreamy and McSteamy. He fell hard and fast for Claire and I loved how steadfast he was in those feelings and the way he not only told her, but showed her with his actions. His patience and unwavering reassurance, support and encouragement of Claire was 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠. I loved the beautiful friendship between them, that then blossomed so effortlessly into something deeper. Then bad boy Beau would come out and I was fanning myself because THIS MAN 🥵🔥

I really enjoyed seeing Parker and Cassidy throughout this and getting more bits of their story. The dynamic and banter between them all is so fun and I adored Claire’s friendship with Cass. The way that I GASPED at the ending of this. I am looking forward to seeing who’s up next while crossing everything we get Walker.

Dr. Intern was medical romance perfection - Beau is the golden retriever MMC that we all adore. He’s got it bad for our FMC, Claire.

Claire is such a relatable character. I absolutely adored her strength and resilience following a traumatic event and her connection with Beau is to dieeee for.

I also love that we still got a peek into Parker and Cassidy, the main characters from the first book, Dr. Resident.

I found myself laughing, kicking my feet, smiling, giggling, and tearing up throughout the book. If you read Dr. Resident, you know Lexie knows how to write the spiiiiice, and she gave it to us again in Beau and Claire’s story!

I got an ARC copy of this book to write an honest review.

This book is 🔥🔥🔥 Honestly, watch your Kindles 🙈 And if you read the paperback, pay more attention, because paper and fire aren't a good combination 😎
The spice already starts in chapter ONE!!! But Beau and Claire had really bad timing when they met each other 😢 So after chapter one, it gets a little slow until it hits again and WOW.
Beau isn't that mega dom but he knows what he wants. And because he loves bóndàge it gets a little rough but not too much (just if you aren't into BD$M in books). And he is everything. Honestly. How can a man be so perfect? Oh, yes, I forgot, he is just fictional 😭😭😭 But he comes definitely in my "Hall of Fame" for book boyfriends 🤩
I love that Parker (Claire's brother) and Cassidy (Parker's fiancèe) are very present in this book. But god... why does Parker have to be so shitty 🤬 He just found the love of his life and they are planning their wedding but... 🤬🤬🤬
A little hint about the end of this book. It doesn't have a real HEA, and it has a cliffhanger, but not about the relationship between Beau and Claire. I won't say more 🤐 Just, it still is a cute end for the lovebirds and I think there is a huge hint about book 3 😱 And I need it NOW!!!!!!

My cinnamon roll!!! Beau and Type 1 rep!!!
First off, Ms. Lexie this is more of your angsty and slow burn compared to Dr. Resident. Also I wanted to punch Parker a couple of times in this book. I'm just saying.
Also, no. I was not ready for the beginning of the book, and poor Claire. But let me just say Claire is such the typical middle wild child and I'm here for it. But once Beau has his hands on her, I volunteer to trade places!

Dr. Intern follows Beau's story after Dr. Resident. The once flirtatious playboy is working hard in his program but when the wildflower Claire pops in his life, he's not ready. Claire fights through her grief and wondering what life will have in store for her.

Now, Beau is quite sminkyyy but I think Parker still has him beat. This series has been my favorite to read as a medical social worker! It just goes to show the right person is writing the right story!

Now for Dr. Fellow.

ARC REVIEW

The Doctor will see you now .....

Damn straight the Doctor will see me if he's anything like big boy Beau.

Lexi smashed it once again. I thought her debut, Dr. Resident, was amazing. Dr. Intern was just as amazing.

Beau is the embodiment of a gentleman in the streets and a freak in the sheets. I loved both his sweet and dirty side. As he said, he's just a heathen with a hammer 😏

This story was soooo freaking good. So, this one follows Claire, Parker's sister, and Beau, Parker's best friend, who we saw a bit of in the first book. Beau and Claire meet at the beginning of the story and have a failed one night stand via a dating app. A weekish later, they run into each other again and are surprised by their connection to Parker. Eventually, Beau and Claire end up being roommates when he mentions to Parker that he needs a place to stay.

Beau's awareness of Claire is everything. The way he is so attentive of her by leaving her notes, getting her to talk about her emotions, knowing when to and not to push, and "helping" her in the bedroom, is EVERYTHING. I love that we get both a charming and filthy side to Beau.

And Claire is such an amazing FMC. She's witty and sassy, knows how to tease and get under Beau's skin but also a bit uncomfortable with her emotions at times. I felt very connected to Claire. It's the first time I felt like I saw a lot of myself in a character.

Overall, such an amazing read. Can't wait for the next one!!!!

Claire is so unapologetically herself and it really made me love her in this book, especially seeing her growth as she works through the grief of losing her mom. Beau is so kind and patient and those sweet notes - omg I was swooning! And the spice - that NYE scene HOLY SMOKES.

-Forced proximity
-Bondage/kinky

Dr. Intern by Lexie Woods is a steamy and emotional medical romance that takes readers into the fast-paced world of hospital life and complicated relationships. Dr. Beau Buffington is an orthopedic intern at Midtown Memorial Hospital, whose demanding schedule leaves little room for anything outside of work. Known for his flings and carefree lifestyle, Beau isn’t looking for anything serious when he matches with a beautiful brunette named Claire on a dating app. The two share a night together, but his focus on his career keeps him from reaching out to arrange a second date. Claire Winters, the free-spirited and fun-loving sister of Dr. Parker Winters (Beau’s best friend), has recently moved to Atlanta to be closer to her family. When Beau and Claire run into each other again, they realize they’re more connected than they initially thought. Knowing that a relationship could create tension with Parker, they try to keep things professional, but fate has other plans. Beau needs a place to live, and Parker, unaware of their previous encounter, offers his condo—with the condition that Beau has to live with Claire.

As Beau and Claire spend more time together, their undeniable chemistry deepens into something real. However, their blossoming relationship must remain a secret out of fear of Parker’s disapproval. When their romance is finally exposed, Parker’s anger threatens to tear them apart. He gives Beau an ultimatum—break up with Claire or risk having his secret about a past medical issue exposed to the hospital, which could ruin his career. Beau’s willingness to sacrifice his job and friendship with Parker for the chance to be with Claire showcases the depth of his feelings, leading to an emotional climax. One of the standout elements of this story is Claire’s relatability. She is often labeled as “too much” by those around her, a sentiment that resonates with readers who have felt judged or out of place in their own families or communities. Her struggles to stay true to herself despite societal expectations make her a strong and engaging character. However, Beau is hiding a significant secret—he has Type 1 diabetes, a condition he’s kept from his colleagues for fear of being perceived as weak in the high-stakes world of medicine. Managing his sugar levels while working long, grueling hours at the hospital adds another layer of complexity to Beau’s life. Beau, must also confront his fear of emotional vulnerability as his connection with Claire forces him to reevaluate his priorities.

In conclusion, I gave this book 5 stars because Lexie Woods' background as a nurse adds an element of authenticity to the medical drama that unfolds in Dr. Intern. The novel offers a compelling look into the high-stress, high-stakes environment of hospital life, particularly the difficulties faced by interns like Beau. The interconnectedness of this story with characters from Dr. Resident is a nice touch, giving readers a sense of continuity and depth within the world Woods has created. Dr. Intern combines heartfelt romance, medical realism, and personal growth in a story that will appeal to fans of hospital dramas and contemporary romance alike. Woods crafts characters that are both flawed and endearing, and the tension between love, friendship, and professional ambition keeps readers hooked until the final page.

ARC Review. Honest opinion only.

Tropes to expect here:
-Medical Romance
-Ortho Bro x Best Friends Sister
-Diabetes Type 1 Rep
-He Falls First
-Handwritten Notes
-Spicy Lessons

Having read Dr. Resident fairly recently, I have been waiting with bated breath for the arrival of Dr. Intern. Book 2 in the Midtown Memorial series follows Dr Beau Buffington - Ortho Bro and best friend of Dr Parker Winters, the MMC in Book 1 - and Claire Winters - yes, she is Parker's sister!

Beau & Claire meet on a dating app and hit it off immediately, progressing to an uexpected night of passion back at Beau's place. Until they get interrupted by Beau's hospital pager which abruptly ends their night and they are each others "one that got away". A slew of unfortunate events follows, Claire is living alone in Parker's city condo and Beau needs somewhere to live... cue Parker and his wonderful brain offering Beau a place to stay so someone can keep an eye on his beloved sister. HA! Joke is on you Parker!

Claire is probably the one and only FMC I wholeheartedly resonate with on multiple levels. Although she's a little sass-pot on the outside, always making jokes and sarcastic comments, internally she's battling low self-esteem and therefore isn't too great at expressing her feelings and desires. Beau made it his mission to build her confidence and self-worth, and to let her know that he would always care for and accept her just as she is; his "pretty girl".

Beau and his multiple personalities (Bad Boy Beau, Bondage Beau, Ballsy Beau and so on) were just perfection to me, but Boyfriend Beau was my absolute one true love. Sorry not sorry to my husband. The way Beau devoted himself to Claire and her journey, despite already being pulled in a million directions by his job, had me in a chokehold. And let's not even start on the spiciness of this man; his mouth, his kink, his utter deliciousness. MY GOLLY GOSH!

I did find myself wishing we had some more insight into Beau's family and his trip to Texas with Claire, but I'm not letting that change my opinion of this book as a whole. Having read the first book and feeling like I know the way Lexie works - watch her throw a swerve on me now - I am looking forward to learning more about Beau in the next instalment of Midtown Memorial.

Honourable mention to my favourite side character, Frosty. I'm allergic to cats in real life, so I won't ever be trying to get my own Frosty, but you will always have a place in my book loving heart.

BE WARNED
Lexie snuck in a little cliffhanger at the end of this book that had me throwing my kindle across the sofa. I'm still mad at her about it.

Lexie, thank you so much for trusting me with an ARC for Dr. Intern. You are a superstar, and I am so proud of you and what you achieved with this one. You're gonna go far little one 💕

The story starts with Claire, who finds herself in Atlanta with her ailing mother. The pain of her mother's passing leaves Claire adrift, struggling to navigate her emotions and find her footing in a world without her. Enter Beau, an Orthopedic Surgeon intern and the BFF of Claire's brother Parker. His arrival in Claire's life brings unexpected sparks, igniting a flame of attraction that neither of them can ignore.
Claire's character resonated with me deeply. Her love for Bravo reality shows and her struggle with expressing her feelings made her feel like a kindred spirit. And Beau... He's everything I could ask for in a MMC - smart, funny, charismatic, and incredibly attractive. His appreciation for Claire's quirks and his unwavering support for her journey of self-discovery warmed my heart.
One of the highlights of the story was Claire's growth. From being consumed by her role as a caregiver to her sick mother to finding her own identity, her transformation felt raw and authentic. I found myself cheering her on every step of the way, celebrating her victories and empathizing with her struggles.
The chemistry between Claire and Beau sizzled off the page, filling the air with tension and anticipation. And let's not forget Claire's hilarious nicknames for Beau - each one elicited a laugh from me, adding a delightful layer of humor to the story.
As someone who works in a hospital myself, I appreciated the authenticity of the setting and the insights into hospital life. Woods's attention to detail brought the bustling world of Midtown Memorial to life, making me feel like I was right there alongside the characters.
And that cliffhanger ending... it left me on the edge of my seat, eagerly awaiting the next installment in the series. I can't wait to see where Woods takes us next with Dr. Fellow.
Dr. Intern, the second installment of the Midtown Memorial Series, is a standalone novel that I highly recommend reading after the first book, Dr. Resident. From the moment I delved into its pages, I was utterly captivated. This series has nestled itself into a special place in my heart, and Dr. Intern only solidified my adoration for Lexie Woods as an author.

✨ brothers best friend
✨ forced proximity x roommates
✨ he falls first
✨ medical romance

Beau an orthopedic surgical interns life is medicine. His focus is the most important thing to his career and maintaining his type 1 diabetes, 120 hour work weeks and studying. But when he needs a place to stay, his best friend Dr Parker Winters offers up his condo. But there’s a catch, his little sister is staying there. Beau decides it’s the perfect idea. Living free near the hospital and getting the girl he can’t get out of his head to talk to him again. Claire Winters has been through a lot the past couple months and she’s just trying to get through everyday, until her brothers best friend moves in after never calling her back, leaving notes and fresh made coffee and making her feel things she swore she’d never feel for him.

Beau Buffington 🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️ I adored every single second of this story. Getting glimpses of these characters is Dr. Resident between surgical resident Parker Winters and ER nurse Cassidy did not prepare me for how much Beau and Claire were going to steal my heart. I devoured this book in 4 hours unable to put it down. Beau and Claire share one night with each other that gets interrupted not knowing they’ll ever see each other again until they find out who each other are but even knowing Parker will never be okay with it can’t change how they feel.

The forced proximity and roommates was by far the best part of this story. Every moment they spent together in the condo was so tension filled you couldn’t wait until they finally gave in. Beau was so patient and caring and put Claire feelings and pleasure before anything else. He wanted everything with her but at her pace. This even gave me moments of “JUST DO IT ALREADY” but the pace of this story was absolutely perfect between the two of them.

Claire has a lot to figure out about herself. Healing from a tragedy and figuring out what her future holds now. I love watching Claire blossom into this story. She starts off unsure and towards the end Beau helps her become the best version of herself by simply encouraging her to be exactly who she is. Reminding her can never be too much.

Big Bad Beau 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

A brother’s best friend romance between sunshine/sunshine characters.

This is a panty-melting, dirty talking, k!nky book that reminded me why phone seggs exist.

👩🏻‍⚕️🧑🏽‍⚕️🩺🏥💊💉 👩🏻‍⚕️🧑🏽‍⚕️🩺🏥💊💉 👩🏻‍⚕️🧑🏽‍⚕️🩺🏥💊💉

In terms of explicitness I give this book 🌶️🌶️ out of 5. I like that it wasn’t super explicit but it wasn’t very vanilla. There weren’t a lot of scenes but quality was 🫠🫠🫠. I was fanning myself and I was squirming! That’s a great sign!

I’m the type of person who likes it when sex drives the plot versus like you know having sex just to be there. I like that the plot really focuses on the relationship that was growing between the two characters. I love how Beau and Claire were free to be themselves around each others and how they both found peace with each other. I also love how Lexie Woods was able to add sexual tension without the extra seggs scenes. The scenes were there to drive the plot and story versus just having them in the book just to have them.

I like how they’re both sunshine-sunshine character. There’s a lot going on with the characters and what they go through despite their personalities. This book is a sequel to Dr. Resident and you can read this as a stand-alone. It does however references characters of the first book a bit because of their relationships with the characters of this book.

A couple things I’d wish was different in the book are:

• I do kinda wish there was more background for Beau? I feel like his character could have been built up more, especially with his relationship with his DM1. I feel like it was just glazed over? It was touched upon, he has/had issues with it, but I could have used more.

• I wish I could have read Claire’s journey with grief. There were some, but not a lot. Again, kinda felt like the topic was touched upon but could have delved deeper.

In general, i do recommend this book. I really enjoyed it and the dirty talk is 💯

So I went into this book blind, having not read the first in series, Dr. Resident. Oh boy, was I in for a BIG surprise! Lexie did not hold back in this book 🥵 I loved Dr. Intern and couldn't help but devour it.

The story follows Dr. Beau Buffington and Claire, who meet up after being matched on a dating app. Sparks fly between them, but when things start getting hot and heavy, Beau is paged for an urgent case at the hospital. However, when they don't hear back from one other, they put it down as 'the one who got away'...
Months later, Beau's living arrangements change and he urgently needs a place to stay. His bestie, Parker suggests staying at his old condo rent free, in exchange for keeping an eye out for his sister, who is also currently staying there. Fate must have other plans when Beau moves in and realises his new roomie in none other than yep... you guessed it... Claire 👀

I could resonate quite a lot with Claire. Although loyal, sassy and funny, she's not great at expressing her emotions and desires. Lacking self esteem, she's always wondering if she's just "too much". I like how she found a friend in Beau, who in return was so patient and encouraging towards her. The fact he accepted her as she was - to hold nothing back and be unapologetically her...🫠🫠 Be still my heart 💗

I mean seriously, could Beau have been any more perfect in this book? We had so many versions him - Bad boy Beau, Big boy Beau, Bondage Beau, B*tch Boy Beau (to name a few!), but my absolute fave was Boyfriend Beau 🫠 honestly, not only was he super sweet and attentive with Claire, he sure had a wicked mouth to match 🔥🌶️ 🥵 Together, they were just simply EVERY.THING! 🫶🏻

I seriously cannot wait for more in the Midtown Memorial series. Dr. Fellow... I'll be ready for you!! 😎

Thank you to Lexie for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Do you like medical drama shows ie Grey's Anatomy? If you do, then let me introduce you to Lexie Woods and The Midtown Memorial Series!

Swipe to see some of my favorite quotes ➡️

This is book 2 in that series and it follows Beau and Claire. We meet both characters in book 1 (Dr. Resident), but you can read this book without reading that one, but you should definitely read book 1! Beau is an orthopedic intern at the hospital and Claire is the little sister of his best friend, although neither knows that when they first meet.

When Beau needs a place to live, his best friend Parker recommends his condo that he is no longer living in. The only catch, Claire is currently living there and Parker wants Beau to keep an eye on his little sister. Now Beau is living with temptation and the one girl he wants but now she is off limits.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I read the majority of it in one day. Claire is kind of lost at the moment, she is dealing with the grief of losing her mother and feeling like she doesn't fit in with her family of doctors. Claire is definitely more of a free spirit, I LOVED her character. She was funny and sweet and vulnerable and her banter with Beau was excellent.

Beau is the very definition of a cinnamon roll. There are lots of notes, and coffee mugs and seeing Claire as she is. He is really great at communicating and is patient with and teaches Claire how to communicate her feelings. Beau has Type 1 diabetes and there is great representation in this book. And I am not sure how Lexie managed to make giving insulin both sweet and sexy, it's a gift!

The spice was also very good! Beau is the sweetest character, but he also has the filthiest mouth and I. Loved. Every. Minute. Claire hasn't really explored her sexuality and Beau guides her through that exploration and it is hot 🔥.

CLAIRE AND BEAU🥵🥵🥵
NEW BOOK BOYFRIEND 🚨

Beau is a surgical intern for orthopedics and his living situation changes unexpectedly. His best friend and esteemed surgeon Dr. Parker Winters comes to his rescue with an offer. He can’t refuse a room in his luxurious penthouse free of charge. He needs to keep an eye on Parker’s little sister.

Claire is a wealthy, sassy, funny, beautiful girl that has a lot to give to people but is not confident enough to show them who she really is. She has always been the black sheep of the family and at times feels very alone Claire is a caregiver a lover, and a thoughtful person.

Also, can we talk about Frosty!!?!🐈

I do not want to give up many spoilers, but I will tell you that I was giddy, had heart palpitations, yelling, kicking my feet, and felt that I was there with them at times. Also, I really enjoyed seeing Cassidy and Parker’s relationship grow and I loved that Claire and Beau took exstreme baby steps. THE ENDING 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

THE NOTES BEAU WROTE 🥹🥹
Taylor Swift references
BRAVO SHOWS
Mugs of affection 🥰

There are many scenes that are going to live rent free in my head but THE BEDSHEET Bondage-great scene and when he they learn more about each other on their condo floor😂 IYKYK

Favorite quote : “Beau kept trying to establish himself as the alpha male in the house, only to be hilariously outmaneuvered by a tiny, mischievous kitten”

*ARC-thank you Lexie for the book. I’m amazed how great it was and so proud of you🥰

I really enjoyed Dr. Intern! This book was an emotional roller coaster dealing with grief, secrets, and finding your place in the world, and in your own family.

Beau and Claire were a great match. I love how both of them were sunshiny characters, but that Claire was still a little bit of a brat to Beau. You have to find ways to rile your man up right? And Beau knew exactly what she was trying to accomplish with her attitude and sassyness. I loved the little notes that he left her every morning, and how he showed Claire how to help with treating his diabetes. They were just a really well matched couple. I appreciated how they were close in age as well. The spice was really good, and I loved the scene at the hospital and during the party! Not gonna lie, that party scene had me laughing to myself. Poor Claire!

I do wish we got to see more of Claire and Beau as an out and about couple, and not just keeping things to their apartment. I would've loved have seen them on their trip to Texas together. More background information on Beau would've been nice as well. Since Claire was in the first book, I feel like we already had a good understanding of her background and personality. Beau was too but I feel like there's still a lot more to learn about this Southern hottie.

It was great seeing Parker and Cassidy again! Even if Parker was a giant ass near the end, but that's why I love him. I really like the friendship that Cassidy and Claire are building. I hope we get to see more of that in the next book.

And I can't end this review without going WTF about that ending?! Ugh, I need to know what the hell is going on! Way to keep me hooked Lexie!

3 ⭐️ 3.5 🌶

The first few chapters in this book get off to a fast start and jump right into major events. I liked that Beau is all sexy on the outside and cinnamon roll on the inside and Claire wears her heart on her sleeve and so much smarter than people give her credit for, especially her family. Beau was solidly in Claire's corner when it seemed like most people in her life weren't.

The forced proximity was funny and full of so much sexual build up and the brothers best friend added another layer. Also, Beau is a type 1 diabetic and I appreciate that the author did a good job of accurately describing the nuances of the technology used as well as symptoms.

Everything was going good until I came to the point where Beau wants Claire to explore her own sexuality and learn about herself before they do more... which ok, I get he wants her to be confident in asking what for what she likes... but this just went on for too many chapters to the point I was skimming to get back to the main plot again.

Don't get me wrong, the spice is hot and I liked the story overall but the teaching/self learning went on for too long. Unfortunaltey the last 30% of the book really fell flat for me. The third act drama that was being built up was resolved in all of 2 minutes... and other major events like Claire meeting Beau's family was completely skipped over except for a vague mention.

While I appreciate that there was a lot of character growth throughout the book from Claire and Beau as well Claire's brother Parker I lost interest about half way through.

Check the TW's as this story deals with grief and loss of a parent and sibling.
