Ever since Juniper Hawkins came to Cambio Springs to visit her big brother, strange things keep happening. Not the least was running into the man who'd almost made her change her wandering ways. Dust Born by Elizabeth Hunter
Cambio Springs series #4. Paranormal shifter mystery and romance. Can be read as a stand-alone but better as part of the series.
Sean Quinn has been called back to Cambio Springs to take care of family. While he doesn’t want the responsibility, but must step up. He’s here for the kids. He was there for their future. Having Juni in town is such a distraction. He’s always been drawn to her but his extra nine years puts her at a disadvantage in his eyes. He’s always walked away and left her with kisses and nothing more.
Secrets in Cambio Springs have a way of exploding at the worst times. Juniper Hawkins loves visiting with her half brother and her new niece and nephews. She knows there is some weird wonderfulness that is just out of her reach in Cambio Springs. Maybe it’s Sean. Maybe it’s something else.

Welcome back to the rural small town of Cambio Springs, CA where shifters range from bear to snake, and everything in between. Where secrets and the past have a way of undermining the best of intentions.
It’s a slow burn for Juni and Sean as he works through his family issues as well as his own emotional worries and history.
There is an inherent danger in the desert town and Sean, Caleb, Ollie and others fight to save themselves, their town and their way of life, as they open their arms to more lost souls.
Found and made family is the very best kind.
Jena and Caleb trying to keep the family secrets from Juni is amusing. Especially with toddler Becca clearly giving things away. Juni’s life view is about to change.

"We may be more... creative than the rest of those shifters, but this is our home and we're not giving up one inch to the warmbloods just because we're different."

Go Quinns you are all some frigging awesome!

I have waited six years for this book and I had lost all hope then there was a sliver of hope when it would be a serial with the newsletter and then the anouncement came that it would be a full book. Six years I waited. Six! It was worth the wait. So worth it!

Cambio Springs has been one of my favourite shifter series because there are all different types of shifters here and it was just so interesting in how it all came to be. I got to admit I wasn't sure about Sean's book not because I wasn't intrigued by him but for the type of shifter he is. But I take it all back and eat crow and say his shifting skills are frigging awesome.

Sean has come back to Cambio Springs to look after his clan, he doesn't want to but he feels he has no choice as the only Quinn on the straight and narrow was murdered. He does the right thing but also gives up a lot at the same time.

Juniper Hawkins is visiting her brother Caleb in Cambio Springs and my my the world is small because Sean and Juni know one another. They have been working on photography projects throughout the world together but Sean could never get to close to Juni because of his past. He does everything to try and avoid Juni but Cambio Springs isn't big and with the same friends they can't help but run into one another.

“Dude,” Sean said. “If you could give me a ride, that would be—”
“Oh perfect.” Ollie hit his shoulder. “Check out who just came in. Destiny is on your side, Quinn.”
Sean turned and blinked.

She wasn’t destiny; she was disaster.

Juniper Hawkins was standing at the bar, holding a couple bags of what looked like takeout. She’d had blue streaks yesterday, but today they’d changed to gold and red. She walked toward the bar, her steps light and her smile wide. Colorful tattoos decorated her tan arms, and her hair was pulled up into a messy bun.

She was so fucking cute he wanted to bite her.

“Sean Quinn, you still can’t hold your liquor.” Juni cocked her head at him, her smile never wavering. “Ollie, do I need to pour this one into bed?”

“If you could drop him at his place, you’d be doing me a favor.”

“No.” Sean pointed at her food. “You’re heading home. To eat.”

“It’s fine,” Juni said. “Jena and Caleb are gone, so I’m being the lazy auntie. I can drop you off. After all” —her smile turned from bright to mischievous— “we are neighbors now.”

This is a 100% slowburn romance but I loved it. I loved how they confessed their love for one another and then they got together. The plot was good and loved the outcome of how things worked out. Ms. Hunter has outdone herself again. It was such a pleasure to be in this world again. I hope we get to see more of Cambio Springs. My ideas are (please make a note EH!)

- Maggie & Fergus get a novella.
- Willow gets a book
- The Las Vegas branch get a series.

Just saying bear it in mind pls!

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

I read the first three books of this series a while ago - this novel has been postponed for years afterwards. So I admit that I had trouble remembering all the players and the key arc. I thought the book was enjoyable nonetheless. Because I loved the characters!

Yes, Sean Quinn and Juniper Hawkins were fun to read.

Sure, Sean suffered from martyrdom ... trying to throw everything away (his career, possible relationship with Juni) because he felt that he HAD to be responsible for all the snake-shifters Quinns in Cambio Springs after the previous leader, his older cousin Marcus Quinn, was murdered (it was in one of the earlier books, forgot which one). BUT, I thought Juniper challenged him on that and the rest of the Cambio Springs residents who also Sean's friends did too.

Juniper was such a cool girl! I mean, she saw Sean turning into reptiles - well yes, she fainted at first - but she accepted the truth of Cambio Springs calmly after that. Her anger was more towards the secrets that Sean and her brother kept from her, which was understandable. She rocked!

Anyway, yes, I enjoyed the relationship and romance. And the mystery, along with the climax fight, was AWESOME (PS: Mariana Cordova was bad-ass )

So fun to be able to dive back into this amazing fictional world. I originally read the first 3 books years ago and adored them. But this time, being a little older I deeply connected with this crew. The community, friendships and lifestyle of these characters is inspirational. We are so lucky to be able to have one more story and get Sean’s HEA.

This shifter world is so unique and the blend in with native mythology vibe has me immediately wanting to reread! Poor Sean. We’ve been seeing him for years, struggling to not be held back by the negative reputation of his extended family, running from the Springs only to be pulled back by unwanted responsibility that sits heavily on his shoulders. Thank goodness for his lifetime friendships that never stop rooting for him with encouragement. I loved seeing him on the pages of Waking Hearts, Ollie and Allie’s story. How he endlessly flirted with Allie knowing he was giving her a much needed confidence boost as well as manipulate Ollie into making his move. He’s smart, and has a huge heart though he’s convinced himself that by leaving the springs to pursue his career and because of is last name that he is no good and has nothing to offer. Thank heavens for Juni who is the Yin to his Yang. I adore her unapologetic brightness, the sunshine she so willingly shines on Sean if only he will take it. Her thirst for adventure is both of their saving grace.

This series adds a new element to the Springs that opens the door for its future generations. I truly enjoyed seeing this thread that started a few books ago come to the front and finally find its resolution. As with all of the mysteries Ms. Hunter writes, this one kept me guessing and anticipating until the end! This story truly had it all, secrets, adventure, romance, action, history and inspiring friendships. I can not wait until I can start from the beginning with Jena and Caleb and see it straight through to the end with Sean and Juni’s story and be able to see the brilliant storyline written into the background of all of the books that comes to a head in Dust Born. These books would be a fabulous read for anyone who love Paranormal Womens Fiction (PWF) it certainly fits the bill and makes my over 40s heart happy!

I love this so much! This series has been such a fave of mine, and Sean’s story did not disappoint.
Sean is a fun, adventure loving, happy guy in his group of friends. Beneath that is a loyal and caring man who feels responsible for his family’s future.

His relationship with Juni was just beautiful to read. Going from new coworkers, finding a deep respect for each other that grew into undeniable strong feelings.

Juni is definitely a kindred spirit. Letting go of her past and making a life for herself travelling the world. She is very open to good things and doesn’t hesitate to let Sean in. When Juni arrives in Cambio Springs to visit her brother, more than a year after Sean said goodbye, she holds out the hope that he might let her in.

But things are very tense for the shifters and their families in the Springs. The man that has been threatening them all is still hiding in the shadows with his followers. Things heat up and Juni soon discovers the danger to her family and Sean, and she very much wants to help. Despite Sean wanting to keep her away from it all. They work so well together that it very quickly translated from their professional work to working to protect the springs.

Seeing the different relationships develop, and an already tight community come together to protect what was there and grow even more, was really beautiful. Sean had a lot of family issues to deal with, and I really enjoyed how it all played out. This series really had a strong theme of community and family that continued throughout this book too. I loved everything about it.

So very happy to finally have Sean and Juni’s story. I absolutely love them together. And we also have the mystery of Lobo solved and wrapped up. I’m sad that this brings the series to an end but maybe one day we’ll get another short story, hopefully Maggie and Fergus ;-)

Loved!!!!

Great series! I loved that Sean got his happy ending with the woman he loves.

Sean Quinn, photographer and the new leader of the Snake Clan, has been trying to change the future of the young Quinn's. The Quinn's have had a history of crime in the past, Sean has been trying to change the future for the next generation. After his cousin, Marcus, was murdered Sean came home to run the clan. But with Lobo threatening the borders of the Springs, stealing the water, the Elders refuse to talk about the past that involves the elusive man/wolf; changes need to be made.

Juniper Hawkins, is also a photographer who has been working with Sean off and on for years. She's in love with the guarded man who refuses to commit to anything with her. He kisses her stupid and leaves town time and time again. When she comes to the Springs to visit her older brother, Caleb, Jena's husband she never expected to see him living there.

When the truth about the Springs and Sean is accidentally revealed to Juni after Sean is nearly killed, she takes it in stride. Sean realizes that he's in love with Juni and wants a life with her. With Willow's help, the group realizes that Lobo and his shifters want the water from the Springs and the town for drugs. They refuse to let that happen. But they also need to let the other shifters know that they are welcome to the water. It belongs to them as well; trying to fix past mistakes.

Juni insists on meeting Lobo himself innocently to take pictures of his new resort in Vegas. But that backfires spectacularly. Now the Springs is in lockdown, and Alex, Ted, Allie, Jena, Ollie, and Sean are expecting a big fight on their hands.

But when Lobo's cousin, a cat shifter who doesn't agree with his plan sides with the residents of the Springs, could peace be found?

A must read!!

4.5 hearts

The  Cambio Springs series is my favorite of all the wonderful Elizabeth Hunter series.  It is a  paranormal romance with each book featuring the romance of a new couple.  There are a few things in the "government" of the town and some enemies which are sort of an overall story arc.

Dust Born is the final book in the series and long awaited by fans.  I just purchased all the previous books on audio but didn't get to reread them before reading, sadly.  I'll do a reread all together at some point as I just love them so much.

There was a focus on the Quinn family but also lots of interaction with all the groups in town.  Partly because Juni is the sister of Caleb. Partly because of the overall story arc of the attacking enemies and where did these shifters come from?

Sean was torn between staying in Cambio Springs to support his crazy family as he felt he should or traveling to continue his exceptional career as a travel photographer.  He doesn't feel he's good enough for Juni.  He has some personal growth in accepting things about his family and community and himself.

Juni doesn't know about Cambio Springs and all its secrets, even spending the summer here to see her nephews and niece.   But when things hit the fan, she jumps right into to save Sean and her brother.   The reason things got so bad is sad.   I enjoyed a satisfying conclusion where they were good to each other.

This is my first book from the "Cambio Springs" series. I've not read the previous ones, but I really liked Juni and Sean's story.

Juniper returns to Cambio Springs to visit her brother and his family. But there she meets Sean, who she met 3 years ago. She had some moments with him, but then he suddenly left with a single note. There was no chance for them not to meet each other again in such a small town.

This is my first book from the "Cambio Springs" series. I've not read the previous ones, but I really liked Juni and Sean's story.

He is home, because he needs to help his family and take care of the danger surrounding them, but he easily gets distracted by Juni's presence. She, on the other hand, has very strong feelings towards him, but is confused by the mixed signals he sends her way. But wanting it or not, at one point, they start working together to help their families and the town.

I love how good Sean and Juni were towards each other. Even though there was a certain confusion, they were still attracted to each other. I loved how she left the town for a bit and tried to get over him. I know, it is a bit stupid of me, but I wanted him to fight for her. But he gets into an accident and she comes back to town. The funny thing is how she found out about Sean's secret 😁.

Thankfully, Sean needed a little push and fear towards Juni to realize they belonged together and he wanted to be with her. We get to see some hot scenes between them, which I loved 🔥🔥🔥.

I was so happy that he finally saw she was his soulmate and together they could finally start travelling the world as a couple.

The Epilogue was so cute and sweet and I loved it as well.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading Sean and Juni's story.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC from Elizabeth Hunter and the Valentine Pr team. Thank you for letting me enjoy this read!!

So, this is book 4 of the Cambio Spring series but it can definitely be read without reading the other three books. I will say that this book is my first Shifter read. So i did get confused during some parts when they shifted into their animal state. But overall it was a fun read and such an interesting love story.
Sean comes back to Cambio Springs to help his clan (which are snakes) but when he returned, Juniper Hawkins also comes to town to visit her brother. Those two knew each other before hand because of work. Once she’s in town you can definitely feel the tension because he is hiding things from her. Those were the reasons they couldn’t be together before coming back to town. We get go into detail as to what is happening in this town and all of the different clans. Those that were banished are causing trouble and the clans that are still in town have to protect eachother and their families.
I truly did enjoy this book and how it all played out.

BTW this book came out today go check it out🤗

I’ll be honest, going into this book I fully intended to read the first three…but absolutely did not and I was just fine. However, with that being said I do now want to pick up the previous 3 to get more backstory on the inner workings of Sean Quinn and the rest of Cambio Springs.

This book series reminds me a lot of my favorite witchy series by Lana Harper- meaning they all intermix but you can read them as standalones which to me is is an amazing quality to have in a series! Juni is the perfect FMC, Sean is the brooding, tortured MMC; and you get soooo much slow burn romance from these two without debilitating yourself of the actual plot line. It was fast paced and kept my interest as well. Thank you to Valentine PR and Elizabeth Hunter to allow me to read an ARC prior to release on 10/24!

Before I go into my review,
You do not have to read the rest of the series to read this one! (But you’ll definitely want to after 🤭)

I just recently started reading more shifters books and this was the most unique one yet. I devoured it like a veggie omelet with cheese ;)

Without even reading the rest of the series, I got to see a glimpse of what Sean has had to go through, throughout his life and it’s truly incredible the character development he has gone through to overcome all that’s been thrown his way. Juni is the perfect match for this. She only wants what’s best for him and it’s shown the entire time.

Adventures• Mystery• Shifters• Romance 🤌🏻🤌🏻

I will now be going back and reading the rest of the series because what the hell have I been missing out on?!

I've long said that I'm not a fan of shifter stories, and must admit that I haven't read the other Cambio Springs books. However, I was given a chance to read this early for an honest review and I was hesitant... but I freaking LOVED this story!!! I should have known Elizabeth Hunter would have done shifters "her" way and crafted great characters in a fantastic story.

If you're also hesitant about shifters, do NOT be hesitant about this book. It's a wonderful read and a page turner, plus you can jump in here and not feel like you missed anything. Though I challenge you to not go back and read the others if you love this one!!

Joy

I am a huge fan of these books and this was the perfect way to experience Sean and Juni's story. There is an excellent balance of fun and suspense and I couldn't put the book down once I started it.

Ms Hunter's talent for building tangible fantasy settings hidden amongst the mundane world really shines in this small desert town.

Highly recommend

Sean always intrigued me .. I am definitely a reptile person.. and I absolutely love Juni!! Their story was tangled up with so many different feelings and obstacles but together they fought for each other and their life.
This book has everything You could want danger, romance, loyalty and commitment. An amazing story in an amazing series. It will be one I add to my collection!!

Finally Ms Hunter brings Sean and Juni's story to completion. Some of us have been waiting and hoping and wishing, and yay dreams can come true!
I strongly recommend that you read the previous three novels before this one, but you also need to read Strange Dreams which is an anthology of short prequels.
Sean Quinn is the bad boy of Cambio Springs who gained a reputation as a hot kisser at school but then left his desert home and family to find success as an international photographer.
Juniper Hawkins is his sometime assistant in exotic locations all over the globe, but the last place Sean expected to see her was his hometown where the townsfolk turn into various forms of fur or feather on a full moon, or at any other time if the need arises.
This has been a highly underrated series that needs more attention so go get it!

Yay we got Sean and Juni’s story. Thank you so much Ms Hunter.
It was really nice to go back to Cambio springs. I’m not really into shifter books but this series I make an exception for because I love the family/community vibe that always seems to be a theme throughout all the books.

A wonderful read

So glad the author decided to revisit this series. No matter how different, strange or exotic the characters, the pervading atmosphere is always about love and people working together to create a better place.
Sean and Juni are very appealing, smart, sassy, sexy and sensitive they are the perfect match but it is their understanding of home that endears them most to the reader.
Hunter is a master of connection. Whether we believe in the fantasy world is irrelevant to the fact we believe in her people and their courage to do what needs to be done. Hence accepting vampires and shapeshifters is easy.

The long-awaited conclusion to the Cambio Springs series! I was really excited to get my hands on an early copy. I have been very curious about both Sean and Juni’s story, and the mystery we were teased at the end of Waking Hearts: after generations of believing they were the only shapeshifters, Cambio Springs residents have learned there are others out there after all. Unfortunately these other shifters (or at least their leader) seem to have a grudge against Cambio. Sins of the past? Is the town’s origin story not as simple as it seems? If this is some long-lost branch of Cambio residents, why do even the elders seem to have no memory of them?

This being Cambio, set aside any ideas of gritty, chest-pounding shapeshifter story stereotypes; it keeps to the slightly cozy small town vibes that I’ve enjoyed in the rest of the series. Mystery aside, the meat of the story focuses on the community and the characters’ lives: Sean, who is on the brink of giving up his life dreams, but can’t justify doing anything else but step in to care for the long-neglected kids of his family. Juni, in town briefly but still caught up in the web of secrets, and not quite willing to give up on the man she might love. The town, as a whole, having to reconsider how it builds in ostracizing narratives within and without itself.

The only critique (if it can be called that) I have is that I think this book works better as a sequel to Waking Hearts, instead of as a standalone, and I would strongly recommend people read Waking Hearts first. A lot of the urgency and sense of threat I felt concerning Lobo and his mystery shifters was informed by the events/murder mystery of Waking Hearts; without it, the “villain action and consequence” in Dust Born alone might not have made as much sense.

That being said: I think fans of this series will really enjoy this conclusion! (And honestly - for anyone who has never been sure about shapeshifter books, I will always recommend this series.)

I am late with my review...when you get under the weather, you just can't wax effusive over your books adequately. And I want to wax...I have not read the previous books in the Cambio Springs series I just never have gotten to them, so jumping into book four was not jarring or left me feeling lost. Elizabeth deftly wove the previous characters into this unusual town, and a new reader immediately feels like they fit in. It was a fantastic story about Sean and Juni. Sean is a shifter of the town's shifters, and he's returned to "manage" the family. He doesn't want to be there, but he wants the young cousins to have a better life than he did, so he's returned to guide them to a better path. Juni is visiting her brother and sister-in-law and doesn't know about the town's shifter population. Throughout this well-paced, engrossing book (Elizabeth only writes the engrossing kind), we learn a lot about the history of Cambio Springs and what has brought it to this point. Tied in with the world of tourist photography that Sean and Juni are professionals at, mixed in with mystery and an unseen but violent adversary, Dust Born brings all this together in an exciting climax and conclusion with so many ways it could continue if Elizabeth chooses to revisit this unusual desert town. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I highly recommend it.

oooh what a gem this was! years in the making, literally and figuratively and boy, did miss Hunter deliver. nothing more then a masterpiece.
As we read this series, we know something is off and this book reveals it all, the good, the bad and the ugly.
Sean has fought his attraction for juni for decades, the young woman first assigned to him as an assistent. he tried hard to keep her in the friend zon, yet he slipped up and Juni soaked up every ounce she got from him.
Back in Cambio springs juni hopes he'll see the light and give them an honest chance. but we know men? they're not always the brightest crayon in the box and sean is no different, stubborn with a capital S.
that is until their search put him in life treathening danger and all he mumrers is Juni. and thus we start the final part of their story, no more secrets, everything out in the open.
and not just their secrets also those in Cambio Springs as we spurt our way to a big finale.
i had to interupt reading because i was hit with the man flu (i felt that bad, i know....)
but once i picked up the book again, i finnished it in one sitting. i simply adored the back and forth and when Sean went all in, priceless.
if you are alongtime lover of the Cambio springs Series, you have to get this one, it's a must read and you meet all of the gang from the previous books.

I fell in love with the residents of Cambio Springs when I first read the previous books a few years ago, but I just needed to know what happened with Sean and Juni, who is this Lobo character, and how is he tied to the Springs! Dust born was everything I had hoped for and more!

There are so many things I loved about this book, but the themes surrounding family really stood out to me. Found family, dysfunctional families of origin, forgiveness, secrets, and trust all come together to create a captivating story that I couldn’t put down.

Ending the cycle of addiction and trauma for the younger members of his family and providing them with opportunities for their future, is Sean’s focus as he takes over leadership of the Quinn family, but does he need to take on total responsibility himself? There is a difference between making sacrifices for those we love and full on martyrdom.

Juni is a free spirited travel photographer with her own family trauma in her past. She is much stronger, and open to the impossible, than Sean expects. She is just what Sean needs, even if he thinks he can’t have her. The big reveal scene where Juni finds out that Sean is a snake shifter and her confrontation with him over keeping it a secret is priceless! Her parting comment is perfection!

With plenty of action, a mystery dating back to the founding of Cambio Springs, challenging the biases and preconceived ideas about the roles of each clan, together with a romance that delivers both tears and smiles, Dust Born is the perfect finale to the Cambio Springs series.

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to review an advance copy of Dust Born.

This book is unlike any shifter book you have read before! This is not a wolf, bear, bird shifter story and I am so happy for it. A new and interesting twist on the shifter scene that I didn’t know i needed!

Sean is from a small town where his family is known as the troublemakers, AKA whitetrash. He is a world renowned photographer yet, when his family needs him to step up and lead them, he puts everything to the side and returns to the town he never wanted to live in again.

Juniper, aka Juni, is a free spirited woman who landed in Cambio Springs to get to know the brother she never knew she had. She has made a life for herself as a wanderer and a photographer. What she didn’t expect was Sean to be there as well, and the towns secrets to be so intriguing.

I like these MCs. They both had some sucky stuff happen in their lives that made them who they are. However, Juni really came out on top. She is well adjusted and not afraid to put herself out there. Her character personality was charismatic, innocent, yet wickedly witty. Sean has some more healing to do but he is a good man. Once he gets his head out of his a….. then things become infinitely better.

The story was great and I especially loved the epilogue. It was one of the rare ones that left me feeling satisfied and happy. I’m sad to leave Cambio Springs but the beautifully wrapped bow on top was perfect.

An excellent end to an excellent paranormal romance series. The overarching plot finally comes to a head here, with a truly well-done reveal. You could guess where it was going, but when you do finally find out, it feels like a light bulb turning on! I'll miss Cambio Springs, and I hope that one day Elizabeth Hunter peeks her head back into this world and gives me more stories!

Unfortunately, this romance was my least favorite of the series simply bc up until the previous book, we'd only HEARD of Sean, and not seen him. There wasn't enough background development there for you to really fall in love with him. Same with Juni -- she wasn't even MENTIONED in the other books. This romance felt like an afterthought compared to the other three books in this series where we knew both characters (minus Caleb) quite a bit before romance started up.

But despite not being the biggest fan of the romance in Dust Born, the rest of the story does make up for it. The story is finished out in a very nicely rounded way, and leaves no loose threads or plot holes. All in all, I highly recommend picking up this series, especially if you're a fan of paranormal romance. Four stars out of five for Dust Born!

It’s been a long time (7 or 8 years?) since we had an edition to the Cambio Springs series. Although I didn’t remember all the characters and pairings all that well, I fell back easily into the shifter world that Hunter has built. It’s a unique series and I always love her writing.

I have 2 tiny mild objections:
1) with this story in particular, I really don’t like overprotective older brothers challenging or threatening the love interest of their *adult* younger sisters (and actually, I don’t care if the sister is younger or older, it really is unnecessary).
2) with the series in general, not an objection really, but I just with it was a different setting then the dessert. Just a personal preference. Would love if it was set somewhere completely different like in PNW or like Nova Scotia (don’t ask me how that popped in my head) or some other foreign country that had more interesting natural characteristics. But I know that just my personal tastes, so I’m not taking any stars away for that.

Overall, great characters, great backstory, interesting magical world, and strong writing. Edited to add that I love these new covers!

A fantastic return to Cambio Springs as former bad boy Sean Quinn reluctantly returns home to take his place as head of his family. It’s the last thing he wants to do but he knows he’s the only thing standing between his younger cousins ending up falling into lives of crime. The last person he expected to see was fellow photographer Juniper Hawkins, his sometimes lover who he’d left behind in Asia knowing he could never ask the free spirit that was Juni to settle for domesticity in his remote, desert hometown.

With a strong storyline involving a long-standing mystery that went back to the times of the founding fathers of Cambio Springs that resulted in a centuries in the making grudge and a villain intent on revenge, Dust Born was a fresh take on a shifter romance with a variety of shifters living together and intermarrying even though there was style a hierarchy with the reptiles being bottom of the heap. I loved Sean and Juni together as a couple where their relationship seemed so natural even though he’d run out on her and I enjoyed the large cast of secondary characters who ultimately came together in defence of their hometown. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about a snake shifter but that played an integral part to the plot but please no spider shifters ever. I definitely draw the line there!

Love this series, and the Quinn family story is a great addition. The H and h have been in love for years but kept a friend zone because of his 'issues'. She had stopped hoping for more and then they are in the right place, right time to show her strengths. She challenged him and that was the turning point for her kindness - it forced a change on the whole society. Only issue for me was alliteration - Juni and Jenna - ugh!
